I can't tell you how grateful I am that you recorded this and uploaded it. It has helped me so much to finally learn the Small Paraclesis in English. Thank you!
Glory to God! That is the prayer book that I am reading from nine years later as I searched for an English version so I could follow along with the recording and the book.
Oh Light Bearing Heavenly Tabernacle pray unceasingly to your Son our Savior that He deliver us from our passions. Christ is in our midst! He is and ever shall be!
What does it mean to ask the mother of God to "Save us?" In America, save means salvation found in Christ Edit: Thanks for the Answers. I’ve since become a member of an Orthodox Church!
In the Orthodox Church we believe that the saints are those who are alive in Christ, even though they are now dead in the earthly sense. They are forever with Christ as we all hope to be one day. Of course salvation is through Christ, but just as we ask fellow Christians here on earth to pray for us, we can ask Christians who have passed from this earthly life to pray for us. The words "save us" here is not saying that the Mother of God can save us in place of Christ, but rather is a desperate cry for help. It is a way of expressing how deeply we need the aid of others who would pray for us. The scriptures and the long history of the Church teach us that the Mother of God has a special familial relationship with Jesus as his mother (think of Jesus looking down from the cross and making sure his mother is cared for in John 19:26-27). Additionally, the Miracle at Cana (John 2) shows that Jesus is willing to listen to the prayers (requests) of his mother. Thus, we cry, "Save us!" asking her to come to our aid as God's beloved mother and an exemplary saint united Christ for all eternity.

Grant Gombert thank you!
Through her prayers. She has a special boldness as Christ's Mother, and so we ask her to save us through her prayers.
