  • After winning the NBA championship in 2004, the Pistons experienced a period of sustained success, but by the mid-2010s, the team's fortunes had declined. In an attempt to rebuild, the Pistons made a series of moves that failed to pay off, leaving them in a state of limbo.
    The team has struggled to develop young talent, failed to attract marquee free agents, and has been unable to compete for playoff spots in recent years. This has left many Pistons fans frustrated and longing for the team's return to its former glory.

    From 2009 until Troy Weaver arrived the Pistons were stuck in NBA purgatory. They weren't good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to land a top pick. Troy Weaver came in and blew the whole roster up and now 3 years later we have our franchise player (Cade) and 2 other really promising pieces to the core (Ivey and Duren). We will add another big piece in the draft this year. I much prefer what we're doing now vs what we did all those years before.

I've been a fan since the late 70's, witnessed the growth of the franchise through the 80's which includes 11 East Finals appearances, 5 NBA Finals appearances, and 3 NBA World Championships. Even when the team transitioned during the 90's it wasn't this bad. Troy Weaver says he wants to "Restore" the Pistons and build them into contenders again...Well, we're waiting. And waiting, and waiting, and waiting. SMH!

    Obviously getting Wemby would be huge for the team, but they've got a really good center in Duren, and their starting backcourt is locked up with Ivey and Cade. They just really need a great wing player, could be Brandon Miller

    • @gameknotz3602
      @gameknotz3602 Год назад +1

      Im fine with either Scoot or Miller tbh. They could realistically move Cade to the 3 which seems bad rn but Cade has the potential of becoming a great two-way player. We haven't seen him or Ivey play together yet so this is all speculation but I rn (Miller and Scoot) > Wemby for me.

    • @TrueGuardify
      @TrueGuardify Год назад +4

      #1 rule of nba draft is if there is an outrageous talent you pick them, position doesn't matter in this instance. Make Wemby and Duren compete against each other to stimulate growth and development, use the other one as a trade piece (if you can't play them together but Wemby can stretch the floor and shoot really well so I don't see why not).

    Currently on an 18 game losing streak as of typing this on Dec 7.2023 with no direction or promise upcoming especially with how Cade has looked recently. Troy Weaver will continue to have this team in the abyss as long as he's still the GM.

    I think it’s all been at the top with ownership. Bill Davidson made sure the team always had what they needed and wanted to be the best, but he unfortunately passed away and his family sold the team. Current ownership is too loyal to bad GMs, signs players who are not a good fit for too much money, and frankly don’t care about winning.

    Fun story: John Kuester was so toxic for the Pistons, when the team vets protested a lack of moves to improve the team, he only played 6 players (2 players who arrived late to shoot around also didn’t play should be stated,) and in said game, Kuester got ejected which drew laughs from the players.
    Absolute joke of a coach

    This team has had 0 continuity over the course of a 5+ year period. The coaching and GM switches, the rotating players. Their draft capital has always been spent on Size and Athleticism, not skill. 0 worthy point guards. At least they have Cade Cunningham, but there's nobody else on this roster I've seen worth holding on to. Jaden Ivy is nice, but hasn't done enough to prove himself. Marvin, Jalen and Wiseman are all competing against themselves. Pistons are in no-mans land.

    The problem why it took so long for Detroit to rebuild is they essentially built there team the same way 2004 Pistons were built that won a championship. Defensive guys that can't shoot.
