The artist of the year speech makes me so emotional. When Jhope, Jimin, V and Suga spoke I was on the verge of tears and when Jin started talking I completely broke. I am so proud of the guys!! If you watch BTS festa 2018 you can tell there was something off and that they had lots of talks with each other. They've mentioned a lot of times. A lot of people speculate that it was because they blew up in 2017 all of sudden and they felt the pressure and the boys talked about not knowing their purpose anymore and how to handle it. Some fans also thought that particularly Taehyung and JK was going through tough times. Mainly bc V lost many ppl in his life like his grandma, friend that committed suicide and then his grandpa in 2018 (he was raised by his grandparents for 14 years). And with JK no one clearly knows but from an interview with a magazine jk said that he felt like he was spreading a bad atmosphere within the group and he felt so sad that he drank and cried alone till the members found out and cried with him. Jin mentioned in festa 2020 that jk during that time shut down and didn't talk to the members and that bc of that they had talks with him. 2018 in general was a tough year for each of the boys. They were mentally drained and felt a lot of pressure during that time. Thank god that time is gone and the boys seem to be shinning bright and being happy. Also Yoongi said that outro: tear was written during the time when they thought of disbanding. I always get emotional while watching them crying in this speech 🥺
it was indeed an emotional speech as the boys were near the end of their 7-years contract and they re-signed for another 7 year contract only for the ARMY's sake and not for the money anymore so let's wait for their comeback in 2025

I think I saw or read something where he said he was scolded for it afterwards. And they reached new heights in 2019 and after, even through the pandemic.
