    I like the idea that Termina is a future Hyrule, tough I'm not sure of your placement of it in the timeline. It might make more sense to put it after Spirit Tracks, that way the change of religion and government makes more sense. The Terminians might be the people of New Hyrule re-discovering old Hyule and founding the kingdom of Ikana in opposition to the the new Hyrule kingdom. Hell, the ninjas sent against the Ikana kingdom could be a detachment of Sheika's and the four giant might me what's left of the guardian spirits in old Hyrule. Termina could also be it's own branch in the timeline opening new possibilities.

This would explain why things from Ocarina child-Link appears here. Take this for example, the guards in Clocktown are Hyrule guards, they have the royal family insignias on their armor. Perhaps sleeping in the Temple of Time gave Link visions of the future.

    I feel like this theory relies on a whole lot of speculation, and has too many holes. It was an interesting theory though, and well made video.
    If Termina was Hyrule from a different time, I'd actually put it pre-SS. The west is the ocean, and MM Great Bay Temple has very similar music to SS Pirate Hideout (also located in the northeast ocean, if I remember correctly.) Also, the weird statue in Stone Tower Temple is in the Fire Temple of SS, implying communication between the two people who built the structures.
    We know that pre-SS, the people had better technology, just like in Termina. The land also would not have been named Hyrule yet.
    People looking similar would be the reverse of your theory. Instead of being descendants, they would be ancestors.
    I think it would have to be quite a long time before Demise's attack, since technology in MM isn't quite to SS Lanayru standards yet.
    This theory is not without holes either. Zora's are implied to have began in SS, so them existing before might be a little weird. Hylia is also never mentioned, despite seeming to be a big part of pre-SS Hyrule (unless she's the goddess of time...)

    • @tamorcetold
      @tamorcetold 2 года назад +15

      @@goopi_eh Gladly!
      In Skyward Sword, there is an unconfirmed timeline split. In one timeline, Demise was defeated in the future by Link's use of the Triforce and the Statue of the Goddess crushing the Imprisoned. In the other timeline, Demise is destroyed thousands of years early, allowed human to resettle the surface much earlier than in the main timeline. This is the timeline I will be focusing on; the one where Denise was defeated and humans resettled the surface early.
      Having immediately repopulated the surface after the events of the game, they would have begun taking measures to prevent the desertification of Lanayru using it's advanced technology at their disposal. In the game's opening cinematic, we hear that the demon hordes "choked the land's sweet springs." It's possible that monsters had somehow diverted the flow of water from the region, resulting in the desertification we see in Skyward Sword. Evidence of there being a blocked waterway can be seen in Breath of the wild. Looking at the Greudo canyon on the map, we can see that a nearby river is abruptly cut off, with the landscape implying that it once fed water into the region.
      Using Lanayru's advanced tech alongside manpower, the blockage could be reversed, and the region would remain saturated with water for centuries to come.
      As time passed, the technology began to degrade, however. Without the help of the people who created it, it could not be maintained. This would ultimately result in a rapid technological regression in the region, causing it to become more medieval than high-tech. The already existing circular stone structures in Lanayru could still be of use after the regression; as walls surrounding a town. The circular stone structures would be repurposed and gradually modified to become the walls of Clock Town.
      With me establishing that Clock Town sits at the center of the stone rings in Lanayru, everything else falls into place. The Greudo Canyon to the east will become Ikana Canyon, the Sand Sea to the west will become the Great Bay, and the Greudo Highlands to the north (as seen in BotW) will become Snowhead. The river running through the canyon would feed into an area south of Clock Town and transform it into a swamp.
      Voila! Termina!

Not only that but the clock tower he's located in is a place where time doesn't move so maybe he's a messenger of the Goddess of Time herself. I honestly think termina is actually an alternate reality or Links afterlife because when you break then Windwaker they are wondering why Link didn't return to protect them from Ganon. That fall that link takes at the begining of Majora's mask is very far and the fact that it is hard ground below when he wakes up leads me to think Termina was an afterlife for the child link. The reasoning for Termina could be alternate world is the portal there could be one way and Links unable to return which gives the cause for the Flood that happens in Windwaker.

    another point, the Deku Scrubs could be the transition between kokiri and the Koroks. the deku scrubs share the Deku part of their name with The Great Deku Tree and Deku Baba. Deku Babas appear to be already within the Kokiri forest and in the Lost woods before Ganandorf came, and the Deku Scrubs appear inside The Great Deku Tree, guarding Queen Ghoma. The term Deku therefore leads me to believe it is a term referring to forest spirits or creatures relating to the forest. The Great Deku tree may have turned the Kokiri to the Deku scrubs seen in Majora's Mask allowing them to be closer to The Deku Tree, the forest and further from Hylians, who have caused many atrocities. This can also explain the transformation to the Koroks, since Koroks can fly and so can Deku scrubs, Koroks appear to be made of wood as do Deku Scrubs. The only issue is the lack of The great Deku Tree, however, there are other guardian spirits missing from other areas as well, such as Lord Jabu Jabu, who may have evolved into something else in-between Jabun, therefore, it may be reasonable to suggest that the Great Deku Tree isn't absent entirely, we just don't see him. In the Wind Waker, The Great Deku Tree has his roots all over the seas, this may be an attempt to stay informed about the world so that the Koroks weren't aggressive to the new hero as was the case in Majora's Mask. The only issue I see with this entire Theory as a whole, is Link having memories of princess Zelda and having obtained the Ocarina of Time, yet that portal to Termina did lead to clock Town, where the God of Time is worshipped, and Ocarina of Time Link, is the Hero of Time- yet honestly I don't see why the Goddess would let Skull Kid and Majora back in time, only to let them back with Link unless the Skull Kid leading Link in the portal was the only way to get him to Termina.

    • @sylen2407
      @sylen2407 2 года назад +1

      Just to add, we know that The Great Deku Tree can turn some creatures into others, such is the case of turning people who get lost in The Lost Woods to Stalfos or Skull Kids, so it isn't impossible for this to happen.

    Windwaker is at most 200 years after OoT. We know that because Nintendo has stated that Windwaker was about the same time at Twilight Princess in a different timeline. So no way it’s wasn’t that long in between Links. Also Windwaker is in the timeline that Link stays as an adult, so it’s more likely that his story got told (crazy to think that the public would believe it lmao) or there is another event that occurred with adult OoT Link that’s not Majora’s Mask because it didn’t happen in the same timeline. It’s an interesting theory but a lot of it goes off of Majora’s Mask happening in the same timeline as Wind Waker which officially isn’t true.
    Another point: where’s the Great Deku tree? In Windwaker we get the same Great Deku tree (as a sapling) as the one in OoT due to he recognizes and mistakes Link as the Hero of Time.
    If you look at the map of OoT and Windwaker it’s very similar too. Although I do think maps aren’t the best way to connect Zelda games due to Nintendo changing maps due to gameplay and not lore.
    Again, interesting theory if the official timeline wasn’t released it might be a bit easier to connect the two.

      I understand what you're getting at here. I know that Nintendo have said that Windwaker has taken place around the same time as twilight princess however in my opinion that just feels a bit off. The legend at the beginning of Windwaker is presented as ancient legend. 200 years isn't a lot of time. Hyrule wouldn't have been forgotten in that time. Furthermore, my theory is saying that the portal is a portal between timelines. It would still work with the official timeline. With Adult link, Adult Link only existed until the end of oot. He's sent back in time, meaning there's actually no Link in the adult timeline. Allowing him to return in the future from the child timeline. Anyway this is just my wacky weird theory and my opinion. I'm glad you found it interesting anyway 👍

Furthermore, there's no Hyrule castle, no temple of time, no other landmark to suggest that you're in the same area. These are the biggest reasons people tend to think majora is a dream or alt reality. Personally I kinda like to think it was an alt reality, and not even the last one that the hero of time would see, as the next game in that branch of the official timeline (toilet princess) has the spector-gold-wolf-link with very drastically different armour and weapons from anything else you see in or around Hyrule castle. He's a stalfos pretty much. Almost like he got lost in the lost woods, ended up landing himself in several alt realities before he died in the woods, only to be resurrected as a stalfos until the twilight brought his spirit back and he was able to climb out of the lost woods and train the hero of toilets. This would also be why the first time you see him is the entrance to the lost woods. I like to think anyway. That's my head-canon.

      @meerkatolive 2 года назад

      I know he's the same Link. I didn't say he wasn't. The theory is saying that Link traveled through a portal that led to a future adult timeline hyrule. For the landmarks, Hyrule changes across a lot of games. For example places like the temple of time aren't found in a link to the past. The castle in OOT was destroyed so it makes sense that wouldn't be there.
      But anyway that's my weird headcanon. I know it's not too likely but that's just what I like to believe. It's different than most interpretations I've seen.

      I know Majoras Mask is confirmed to be on the child timeline. The theory has nothing to do with that. The timeline shows a chronological set of events that players have to play the games through. Majoras mask comes off the timeline split from Ocarina of time in the child timeline. It starts with Link within that timeline. My theory is saying that the dimension Link travels to is the alternate Hyrule of windwaker which in the child timeline would be a different dimension as it follows different events and has a completely new history. Since Majoras comes off Child timeline events with Link becoming a child and searching for Navi, it would still be in the child timeline as it follows those events. I hope this clears some things up

    Your Theory is a lot more Interesting than Termina just being Another Dreamworld... 😒
    Termina just Relegated to being a Dreamworld is Just Stupid and it Invalidates Everything that was Set up for both the Hero of Twilight and Twilight Princess as a Whole. Because a Dreamworld has no Real Bearings in the Real World. Plus Dreamworlds just Suck in General for the Legend of Zelda, as the Entire Quest was just so Pointless in the End. What is it that Link Gains from the Dreamworlds? Absolutely Fucking Nothing. No Weapons or Items, not even Knowledge. The Feelings Link gets are not Real either. So Dreamworlds in Zelda are Pointless and Offer Nothing. Because Link is just Dreaming. Anyone can Dream of a Grand Adventure, especially if they have Lucid Dreams, that they can Influence.

    • @SourDohSteele
      @SourDohSteele 2 года назад +2

      A dreamworld is really the only logical explanation for Termina. Although I agree it's a boring theory, it's far easier to except than just about every other one I've heard.

    • @goopi_eh
      @goopi_eh 2 года назад

      Oh boy. Usually I understand the frustration with the "it was all a dream" approach, but in this particular case I can't help but disagree.
      First of all, neither Termina nor Koholint are strictly Link's dreams - it's a dream of a deity, Majora and Wind Fish respectively. Link doesn't "imagine" the adventures of MM or LA in a sense that he doesn't make up a story in his head and play-pretends - if Zelda was a sci-fi story, these imaginary realms would be a simulation, a Matrix if you will. Sure, there's a whole philosophical debate on whether or not a simulated life of this kind can be concidered real/valid/worthy of saving, but as far as the Zelda series is concerned, the dream worlds are real enough.
      Second off... Putting the validity of the events aside, do you really think that the only point of journey to Termina was to stop the moon? You're right in that the main problem with the "it was all a dream" stories is how it renders anything that happened meaningless and futile, but Majora's Mask evades this exact problem by giving Link a closure. Not to argue for the infamous "Termina represents the stages of grief" theory, but it's really an emotional journey in it's core. Link starts the adventure as a person who in a blink of an eye lost everything - any kind of home, all his friends, even his grip on what is and isn't real; he ends the journey knowing that there's always a possibility to make new meaningful connections with people and having a mental capacity to deal with the absurdity of the world (though he doesn't gain a place to call home, as indicated by him leaving Termina afterall). You literally said that that the outcome for an adventure like that would be gaining knowledge, why'd you dismiss a perfectly valid argument just because the events that lead to it didn’t happen at the same physical plane as Hyrule? You want a pointless dream adventure set in a Zelda universe - look at Phantom Hourglass: nothing gained, nothing lost, no influence on the world, and no emotional growth for anyone involved either.
      In my opinion, it's the literal reading that claims Termina to be a real place that cheapen the experience. It makes Link look like a mercenary with no life outside of heroic business - and for a character that traditionally symbolises the innocence and open-mindedness of youth that paves the way to changes in the world, being a mercenary paints quite a bleak picture. By design, Link (any Link) is a legend, a national hero: he appears as if from nowhere, does the world-saving miracle and vanishes from the public eye once the crisis is resolved; the second quest of any kind breaks this formula. Take the Oracle games, for example: there, Link from ALttP, already an established hero, is summoned by the Triforce to rescue Holodrum and Labrynna, which are known to be material places. What sense does it make for the Triforce to send Link, a citizen of Hyrule, to solve the problems of other sovereign countries? And what do these adventures say about Link as a character? It's not a story of the land that produced the hero, and it's not the former hero's personal journey anymore, it's a job; and by making Termina a real place you're making it a job, too. This is also why I have an issue with the Hero's Shade, but that's beside the point.
      ...There's also the thing about Termina being too different from Hyrule to tie it to the rest of the series in a believable, meaningful way. Sure, it's always fun to try, but for me it just doesn't make the cut.
      (Hope this didn’t come out too agressive or anything, I'm just a bit passionate about the series and analysing it!)

      @meerkatolive 2 года назад

      I know they're in different timelines but the theory would still work with the timeline. The timeline is only the order of events in the series from Link's perspective and it splits off because of time travel shenanigans. I know the windwaker is in a different timeline but majoras mask would still be in the child timeline if my theory is right. Majoras mask is a continuation of the ending of Ocarina of time where Link goes back in time. It's a continuation of child timeline events. My theory is saying that the portal takes Link to the windwaker Hyrule. So it's the same world but since majoras mask is the continuation of child timeline events, its in the child timeline. Link only travels to a different world which happens to be the ancient windwaker world.

      @meerkatolive 2 года назад

      @@TrueKoalaKnight The medieval times were not that primitive. There are thousands of records from those times. Not only that 100 years is a really small time frame. Link has a grandma in Windwaker who looks to be at least 70. Her parents would've been born during the time of the flood so the story would've been passed by word of mouth and wouldn't be presented as an unknown ancient legend.

    • @TrueKoalaKnight
      @TrueKoalaKnight 2 года назад

      @@meerkatolive Yes, but we're talking about a post apocalyptic situation on top of a medieval setting. And word of mouth is a terrible way to preserve facts. The oral tradition is precisely why the historical accounts can easily become legend easily and in a short amount of time.

    • @meerkatolive
      @meerkatolive 2 года назад

      @TrueKoalaKnight It's not like the word of mouth would have come from generations ago. Link's grandma if windwaker was set 100 years afterwards would've been the child of a flood survivor. The time period isn't big enough for Hyrule to be completely forgotten. Also windwaker is too advanced to be considered medieval. There are coloured photographs and revolvers. A civilisation wouldn't be able to become that advanced a mere 100 years after an apocalypse. Not only that but there were survivors which means there would be things such as diary entries and historical records immediately following the disaster. By windwaker everything has been forgotten. No one even knows what happened to the kingdom. They don't seem to even know the world was flooded. Even in a primitive society, which even those from the medieval times were not, in 100 years such an event would not be forgotten at all.
      But anyway, it doesn't really matter when it's set. I just personally don't see it being 100 years afterwards. Thank you for playing devil's advocate, I like these sorts of conversations. It's good to get a different perspective on things

    I really don't think that this Theory adds up much at all. One of the points you bring up is the technology how the adult timeline appears to be much more technological then any other timeline but this simply isn't true. The Picto Box also exists in the Twilight Princess era as we see actual photographs in that world. Twilight Princess also gives us many mechanized contraptions that are operated with the spinner. The level of technology in The Legend of Zelda series always seems to refer back to a medieval type of Technology level possibly due to the curse of demise so the technology level really doesn't seem to add much of anything as more often than not high levels of Technology are seen as lost technology not unlike the technology scene in Horizon zero Dawn or Xenoblade Chronicles.
    I do agree with your point however that wind waker should take place thousands of years after Ocarina considering that the events of Ocarina are seen as ancient legend and myth and the modern hylians and people don't seem to have any memory or records of Hyrule or even the Triforce with the fish guide people even mispronouncing them as Triumph Forks.
