@Winston Dwayne thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Perfect timing , my 150 onions should be arriving soon, planting garlic- soft neck and we have been working our Dirt , We still have alot to prepare for , especially seasoned wood ...here in Montgomery County, Texas. They sell wet/ newly cut wood - NOTHING LIKE THE GREAT seasoned wood my Daddy brought over each year from McCalla, Alabama - I miss my dad a Vietnam Veteran qn our youngest & only Daughter April ann Ulrich age 19 . My heart is forever shattered but I must continue to keep their memoria alive. . Thank you Mr. Danny .my 150 onions from hoss should b conubg sin. Lol God bless u & Mrs. Wanda 🙏🏻
Y'all soil does a good job soaking in the rain. Here in north MS it takes days for our soil to dry enough to get back in the garden. Y'all have a Blessed Day!
Homegrown Country Homestead Yeah when i lived in central MS i had to ammend a lot of organic matter into the soil before i could plow after a rain. Thanks

You picked a really great tool from Hoss for your gardening Danny! I’d call you an expert with modifications of so many things you and Wanda do around your property. I appreciate you all sharing your experience and knowledge about these types of things you can do! 👍👍👍❤️
Thanks for the tips about the nitrogen for the onions Danny. I'm going to be adding them to my garden for the first time this year. It's amazing seeing stuff coming up already for y'all down south. Here in Connecticut I have a bit longer to wait before I can put stuff in the ground. I'll be starting some stuff indoors over the course of the next few weeks and I can't wait! I think we'll be starting to see things warming up soon. The spring birds have all been singing up a storm. That usually tells me that Spring like weather isn't far off. Here's to a great growing season for everyone!! - All the best. ~ Theresa
I wish you all the luck with your onions.... I have trouble myself growing them into good size bulbs... been learning a lot of tricks off here from different folks I’m gonna try this year
You can Mount 2 big funnels on the handlebars with plastic tubing that ends just behind the furrowed plows. Put a binder clip on the plastic tubing and put granular fertilizer in the funnels. As you make the furrows, open up the plastic tubes and let the fertilizer run automatically into the furrows.
I've heard that cutting the tops back help grow onion bulbs larger. My onions got left outside during our snow, nothing covering them and they are still coming up strong.
If you were going to fertilize a new plot that was just harrowed up, would you broadcast and then harrow in/lay out rows, or would you lay out rows and then fertilize only the rows that you will plant in? We have a double wheel hoe and I thought about just fertilizing the rows and tilling in with the wheel hoe cultivator and then coming back and laying out the row again or planting on top of where I tilled. Thoughts?
Matt Haywood I know you didn't ask me......onions and garlic HATE weed pressure! Fertilizer encourages weed growth. I never broadcast fertilizer in that type situation unless I'm using a "weed and feed", it wastes fertilizer and encourages weeds. I furrow, amend with compost, cover slightly and plant right there. Dixondale Farms (where Danny got his onions) has some great info on onion growing. They recommend a "weed and feed" which you do broadcast slightly. They also recommend double rowing your onions and digging a furrow between them to fertilize. I use that method. They do NOT recommend planting right on top of fertilizer. They offer all products. Good folks to work with too.
I would make the rows up then fertilize out to the side. Onions dont do well compeeting with weeds so broadcasting fertilize wastes fertilize and invites weeds to grow . Hope this helps Thanks
Mike Wilson To harvest seeds you need a fully mature and aged squash. Cut it open and put the seeds in a container of water after a few days all seeds that float to the top discard and seeds that sink take out and put on a paper towel and let dry for a few weeks. Then store in a dry container. Thanks
Muy bueno cuanto cuesta en dólares soy de Uruguay Canelones y si lo mandan saludos tengo una huerta muy grande y plantó mucho me gusta ésa herramienta No Contamina
Well, since you have weeds, tell me if you've ever tried this. Park your weeds in a bucket with a lid, or an old ice chest, whatever. Cover with water, close lid, and leave it stewing in the sun for a couple of weeks, maybe up to a month. Then, strain off some of the stinkin' water and dilute it a lot, like 10 or more cups of fresh water for each cup of stinkin' water. Use this to water around your plants. It has small amounts of other nutrients, but mostly it is a high nitrogen fertilizer, and it's free, and it's just as organic as your weeds are. You can toss the stinkin' solids in your compost - no waste. I've had good success with this, but if using around tomatoes, dilute it even more, or they will be extra green (experience speaking). Free stuff and experiments are two of my favorite things. --Brenda
6996katmom Not sure how you planted. But if you planted small bulbs they will go to seeds. To get good bulbs one needs to plant the sets.I made this mistake for years till i realized onions were a two year plant..Thanks
I always plant sets. I even bought the sets from Dixondale Farms once and they only grew as big as a golf ball. I also bought their fertilizer. I still try, but one day I will give up.

Very good video on Hoss tools at work. Been looking at Hoss tools for a while. Do you think it will work good in red clay? Thank You for the video.
Bushrod Clay needs to have organic matter tilled in before planting a garden. Then it should work fine. Thanks
Thanks. Last year i tried to grow oinions need that. Was wondering why my bulbs didnt really grow that well. Did you also do the garlic?
Dale Folck Yes i did the whole garden. Onions need nitrogen an water every 2 weeks till they mature then back off. Thanks
That's too easy! I guess you can use the same tool in many different applications which sounds good to me.
Thomas Whitten Yes it can be set up in a lot of different ways. I plan on showing them throughout the season. Thanks
That’s a nifty tool you got there Did you say Pulling weeds in February wow
Pinetar And Robyns Homestead Yeah its crazy isnt it weeds there everywhere. Thanks

Miah Crosby The ground needs to be tilled first then it works great the rest of the year. Thanks
Thanks for the info. Could you use rabbit manure instead of Blood Meal ? God bless!
PeeWee S Onions and garlic need high nitrogen during there early stages. Rabbit manure is not strong enough.THanks

hey good morning Danny I would like to hear your opinions on how the phases of the moon affects life on your homestead one of these mornings
I can never get my onions to grow good either. In fact, with this crazy weather, mine are not bulbing and are going to seed.

Hmm didnt know oinions needed so much fertilizers
Walt Lars They are heavy nitrogen feederes. Thanks
Man, my garlic is barely popping out of the ground right now!
Rabbit fertilizer does not produce weeds and its much better than any other litter. They eat pellets, no weeds
