Im a native from Panajachel. It depends on your budget. If you wanna have a little luxury. I will recommed Hotel Atitlan for its gardens and sunsets. Close to there, is ecologic park Sanbuenaventura with ziplines. Butter fly observatory, and the chance to see spider monkeys and coaties. In Pana you got to visit circus bar at night and from Pana you can travel the little villages that you want. You can rent a bike and go to Santa Catarina Palopo and back or go to San Andres Semetabaj to the best observatory there is of the lake.
Hi, I'm planning to visit Guatemala on January, 2018 and would love to hear recommendation on which village/town to stay in during my visit to lake Atitlan. Right now I am considering Panjachel or Santiago Atitlan.
There are many (!!!!) places in the area that cover a wide spectrum of prices. We stayed at Hotel Atitlan in Sololá hotelatitlan.devsite-1.com/default-en.html It was a very good experience. Please note that the water taxi does not stop at the hotel; however, we got to know one of the water taxi drivers and he would come and pick us up from the hotel and take us to wherever we needed. Alternatively, you can walk to the nearest water taxi stop which is about 15 minutes walk. Enjoy your visit!
The hotel grounds (gardens as they call it) are fantastic and you have unobstructed view of and access to the water. The food at the restaurant is very good. The rooms are simple but they are clean and well maintained. Overall service is also outstanding.
