17:55 You mentioned about Hospitals in India not telling you the gender of the baby - Revealing/Detection of gender of the baby is BANNED in India by law. This was done as there were lot of girl children being aborted due to the desire to have a male child/heir to the family. This was affecting the sex ratio in the country.
However, while doing the sonography if it is seen/detected the parents will know but nothing is said out loud/confirmed by the doctor due to the law. Hope that helps understanding why they didn't tell you.

Nazar means sight. "Nazar na lage" phase means "don't get bad eye" of someone on something you are refering to (protect from evil). The child you said about getting black dot, is to protect from evil or bad energy.

    • @AO-xd2ml
      @AO-xd2ml 10 месяцев назад +17

Black dot makes you look "imperfect" and therefore less likely to be an object of envy.

About black applied on EYE LIDS:
First it makes eyes look brighter for onlookers.
USING MASKARA..KAAJAL.. EYELINER etc is nothing new and not restricted to India.EYE BLACK IS PURE CARBON MIXED IN HERBAL OIL ADDED BY CAMPHOR NATURAL( LIKE MENTHOL) which guards from eye infections.
BEST USE OF BLACK NEAR EYES ADDES TO ABILITY TO SEE BETTER..A SCIENTIFIC REASON WHY SPORTSMEN COPIED FROM MILITARY AND WHO COPIED IT FROM ANCIENT SOLDIERS.
MOST OF WESTERN SPORTS PERMIT USE OF DARK LINES UNDER EYES.

Your question about NAZAR, Drishti . Babies are decorated with black dot as on the forehead and checks. That is a belief that drives away bad influences or nazar.
Also women wear bindi, a red dot on the forehead. It is sort of decorative item which sometimes indicate the marital status of the woman.
Every culture has some beliefs and certain customs. I think, Iran too have some customs which others can’t understand. Like eating meat is foreign culture to Indians. Hence they add vegetarian tinge to every thing, like in India we have vegetarian pizza, vegetarian barbecue, vegetarian pulav etc.
Coming to carpets, India 90% of the country is temperate climate excepting Kashmir. In hot weather, dust is a menace. Olden days, there were no vacuum cleaners. Hence, the customs is to have a nice marble or granite floor and get it cleaned, mopped by the maid servant. Rich or poor, every body likes hard and clean floors.

Barbecue nation has paneer, mushroom, potato along with pineaple too for vegetarians. Yes vegetarians dont have much options like non veg and their price is also cheaper. Vegetarians are mainly for religious reasons. 😅. Nowadays, vegetarians have started eqting egg for protein. We can get Vitamians from fruits and vegetables easily. Protein from milk , paneer, dal, lentils, chickpeas, pulses and red beans. Shahid Kapoor bollywood actor, is a vegetarian. John abraham, a zoroastrian, bollywood actor is a vegetarian.

Regarding carpets -south, central and plains of North India are warm and hot so the carpets are not used often at home but if you go further north you will find carpets in most of the homes. ( I stay in Himalyan region and we have wall to wall carpets in most rooms)
Anyway I hope you enjoy your stay in india. One of my very good friends from college was an Iranian who used to make chelo kebabs for me.

I love iranian people. They are generally very cultured and well mannered. Their temperament of being hot headed probably comes from historical inter mixing of the DNA through centuries of racial intermingling with Greek, Sassanidian, Arabic snd Turkish, Afghan races. Today's Iranians are certainly not as pure as the original Zarathustrans who are perhaps not more than half a million world wide, totally. Their culture of fire worship has a lot of similarities with the vedic indian culture of performing Homa. Whenever you visit any temples in india you will observe a Agni kunda- fireplace- which is of high value where fire is worshipped. The concept of Avesta/ Ahura Mazda - fire God in Zarathustran thinking is similar to Agni- fire God amongst Hindus. The Persian fire ritual called Yasna is similar to old Indian vedic tradition of Yagna. Linguistically too Persian and indians through Sanskrit must have been very much related. Example of words such as Khsira (Kshira Sagar- Ocean of milk) for milk in both Sanskrit Aab for water, numbers like yek, do, teen etc are same till das (10). are all proof enough that same Brotherly tribes from central Asia that came southwards, one remained in Persia and other moved eastwards towards india and settled down along Sindhu river came to be called Sindhus and then Hindus later...... So goes a close relationship between India and Iran.....from ancient times.

The word nazar itself is probably of Persian origin, much like the blue glass with a black dot that is sold in Turkey, Iran. Lots of Persian influence on Indian language, culture and food. Hope you find many such interesting connections between India and Iran. A lot of people from Persia => Iran to be found in Mumbai and Pune. I love Irani people, they are so very nice, easy going, and respectable and friendly always. They are my favourite people ❤❤❤
I just to say that when you talk about being vegetarian and then needing to take vitamins at 8:23, I want to clarify that many people in India have been vegetarian for centuries without having to need vitamins supplements which are a new thing anyway. My whole family are vegetarian, we look younger than our actual age, we're all healthy and have 2 kids born both over 4kg each who are also 100% vegetarian and healthy. So it's a misconception that being vegetarian means you will be sick, or weak or will need to rely on vitamins. It's simply not true as long as you eat right.

Nice vlog.. Randomly came across ur RUclips channel..love Iranian people, my first interaction with Iranian person & culture was way back in 2008 when I made friendship with an Iranian girl in bangalore. & met her family too...Iranian students have been studying & visiting banglore since early 2000 as far as I could remember... There are lots of Iranian in bangalore...i used to hear basically two sort of opinions from my Iranian friends living in bangalore, India that is, they like their freedom here, they feel free here and the other opinion which was negative was - India is dirty & not clean.. Especially walls are uncle etc... What I love about Iranian people is, they are good looking, beautiful & looks strong...

You have to realize that Farsi was official government langauge in india for 100s of years during Mughal occupation, Urdu is basically Hindi + Farsi. Keep in mind that India is really a continent in itself. It is not a single culture. You are in Karnataka - Kannada food/culture - though Bangalore is very metropolitan. It is not like Gujarati, Punjabi, Kashmiri foods. Kashmiri is close to Irani cuisine. It is like living in Italy and saying you are eating European food. Hopefully, you will travel to other states and try out their foods and stuff.

To me Iran /Persia means the same and our countries relationship is centuries old. I had freindshy with Iranian people during the stint in the Gulf and i really enjoyed being friends with them. Most congenial and polished persons to hang around with. Enjoy your stay in india, wishing Allah blesses you with good health, happiness and prosperity forever.

This is an amazing video in the sense that it is very different and unique. First time i have come across a viewpoint of people from iran who have stayed in 2 places of the subcontinent viz mumbai and bangalore. They make the mistake of generalizing these 2 cities as the face of india though this is not true. Some clarifications about the points mentioned. 1-- gender of child in womb is not told in sonography as female infanticide is rampant and a law was made to curb this malpractice. 2-- plastic carry bags are misused a lot in india as a whole and there is a use and throw culture. 3-- carpets are seen only in colder parts of india like kashmir, uttarakhand, uttar pradesh, punjab, haryana etc because they were part of the way of life. The carpet insulates the residents from the cold floor specially in winter. As we became more westernised and started using furniture like beds or living in larger homes, or household servants diminished, carpet maintenance and cleaning became more and more difficult. Thus carpets started going out of demand. Also room heaters, radiators, centralised heating in the northern colder states has started becoming the norm leading to decline in usage of carpets. 4-- there is a misconception that only meat eaters get adequate protein or vitamins etc. Even iran was vegetarian long back. Anyway it is very refreshing to hear things from different perspectives and i always learn a lot from information shared on youtube. I would suggest that our iranian friends see and taste more of the cuisines of south india in the cities they reside in. They will continue to be amazed. Not all indian food is oily. It differs from place to place, class to class, family to family etc etc. Since this place is home to 140 crore people, the culture, food habits etc etc will vary a lot. Even for us, its an amazing discovery all the time. Something new can be learnt from so many people going about their lives. The climate really helps support such a large population and its a really rich country but indians are generally unaware of their riches. Its good to learn from your experiences too and hear stories about iran and its people, their lives, food, living conditions etc etc.

Iranians are using a variety of Arsbian script. Iran has a very old history. Ilike to know about the script you used before the Arabian script arrieved in Iran.
On the north-east of the Golf of Hzrmuz there was probably a kingdo m of Elamite people. If you know anything about them and their script, please let me know.

Iran has colder climate which cultivated preserving food and using that food for extended period of time. But in India, food degerate quickly due to bacteria which is active due to climate. Olden days, people didn't know about bacteria so culture of preserving food = bad luck developed in India. If someone serves food to guest after storing for a day in deep fridge( even if it's edible), is seen as an insult.

Greeetings from Canada. Love you guys.
No such thing as "finger of legs". The fingers of legs you are referring to are called "toes" in English. And we have thumbs on our hands, no thumbs on a foot. It's called the big toe.
Indians love spicy, curried food. But I love Iranian food. There's Darband Restaurant and Bamiyan Restaurant near my house here in North York (Toronto) where you get the best Koobideh Kabob and Chicken Curry with yellow rice and fried lamb. The rice in Iranian restaurants has raisins which I love. I also want to mention that I know several different languages and I think French, Persian and Dari (Afghanistan) are the sweetest languages in the world. I have some very pleasant experiences of Tehran and Bandar Abbas when I visited your country 30 years ago. Good luck in India.

Coming to Utensils we use varity of material now a days. But in older days proper Indian utensils don't had any place for Steel. It all use to be Brass, Mud, Stone, Cooper, Cast Iron etc. Still we use all these type of utensils at home. different material for different purposes. Also depends on the time people have to maintain them, their health consious levels etc. Steel has become more populare just because it is easy to maintain in the fast life these days.
Like for Kadais people use Mud, Cast iron , Steel, Brass.
For water pots, glasses etc we use Mud, Copper.
For plates people use Brass, Silver, Steel, Ceramic etc.
Other vessels for cooking gravys people use Tin coated brass, cast iron, mud or stone.

India's vibrant food scene is because of the variety of street food one gets. I understand that you need to have a strong stomach to digest all the fat, and spices, but it's worth it. Since you are in Bengaluru, you should try ripened jackfruit available with street vendors, steaming hot boiled peanuts during Bengaluru runs taste heavenly.
