--Ashes Of Creation MMORPG Description--
THE GAME
Ashes of Creation takes place within a medieval fantasy setting, blending imagination with cutting-edge graphics. We are putting the word massive back into massively multiplayer with unique and novel mechanics that will bring meaning to player action.
Ashes of Creation will incorporate the best parts of traditional MMORPGs with innovative sandbox concepts.
AN OPEN WORLD
NODES
NodesAshes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay
HOUSING
HousingPlayers will have the ability to survey and develop land anywhere in the world. Be a pioneer deep in the wilderness, build the home of your dreams, and work the land to cultivate resources and supplies. Alternatively, stick with civilization and safety in numbers - purchase a home within the confines of a village and watch your investment grow as that village turns into a city. Homeowners in our game will have the ability to develop their plot of land as they see fit. Focus on farming, animal husbandry, or own your very own smithy. You’ll be able to specialize your land to maximize your profits or your comfort, be sure to choose wisely
Questing in our world combines the best elements of traditional MMO’s as well as the introduction of our unique player driven experiences. Ashes of Creation offers area quests, public quests, and quest chains that change dynamically and in real time based on the player’s experiences and choices. Players will have the ability to directly alter world events and change the landscape through their actions, as an individual and as a community. Server quests will allow political rivals to compete for the fate of the world

it's strange that "Hope" is the only and last word we have when it come to new mmorpg.
been thinking that too but recently got into albion online and honestly other than the moba like controls, which i would have preferred 3rd person, its really well done in most aspects. in fact ashes of creation and albion online have tons of similarities.

Thats with any game these days the gaming industry has just become so trash. They are all copying each other just to get their microtransactions sold.
Becuz developers saw how blizz monetized it and want to emulate it. Blizz only succeeds cuz they already had everyone hooked they didn’t care how bad the game was, it looked pretty and forced you to come back everyday/week to hope it wasn’t as shit as the previous
I mean most MMOs that have come out in the past 10+ years to dethrone WoW have all claimed to be "Wow killers" when it was more like a temporary stun. Rift was the one that really caught my eye then within a few months it was almost completely dead despite a really cool class system and a kinda fun fishing minigame lol.
This seems almost too good to be true
Let’s just hope that this game is actually good
Right?
@Silent Youngsters It's not a kickstarter MMO at all like 10% of the money is from the community and it's not going to be p2w
Let's not put up expectation then.

This sounds like the MMO of my dreams, everything I’ve always wanted combined into one game. My only concern is what the combat will be like. If they nail that, this could actually be the WoW killer we’ve been expecting for the past decade.
That's why I don't play RPGs. Lack of good RP, and gameplay. I don't wanna stand around and click. That's not fun. That's not skill.

@@gabbyv8567 u have internet to search. Its not, its not even alpha yet. It could take 5 years for this game to be finished.
At the same time though; you should be weary of getting hyped over things that aren't available yet as the past 15 years have had a whole variety of hype, yet the results that followed have been somewhat of an anticlimax.. It looks promising, but I'm not going to get excited until it's out of beta. Edit: the past 20 years has formed a very sceptical shell around my optimism for games that look this good lol.
Exactly this; I haven't felt much of a sense of wonder for a game since EverQuest and early WoW. I retired from MMO's after getting bored of WoW for the 5th time, and burning out on SWTOR after the story dried up.
The best sentiment I heard on the subject was "MMO players are like beat dogs, it's not easy to trust again.". Everyone will be cynical or cautiously optimistic. I am opting to be optimistic and placing my bets on AoC. The genre needs a good game, and this has the most potential I've seen in a while.
Assuming that everything goes without a hitch, and the ambitions are met, this will be a truly amazing experience.

The only thing that makes me concerned about this game is the same thing that makes me excited: it's just really really ambitious.
Here's hoping they can pull it off! 🤞
Thats what I thought. Its the perfect vision, lets just hope it doesn't just die as a vision. Companies have had visions like this before and their game comes out half assed and people get bored quick and the game dies. I hope that doesn't happen here.
yeah i mean it's not that they are 2 years behind schedule already, they delete comments from their videos and they dont even let everyone with the alpha1 package play the game cause after 2 years of "polishing" they are still behind and they let only those who gave 4digit number money for their a1 packages.

Yeh, gives me the good ol' Star Citizen vibes. Remember Chronicles of Elyria? This feels a little like that, with the difference being that AoC have made more progress so far but I'm still highly sceptical.
Jairus Strunk, you can, but frankly that gameplay looks horrible, and rightly so as it's so early in development. It does not really show how the game will be in the end at all. Kind of like watching the cover of a movie and judging it from that kind of deal.
@@jairusstrunk94 We should all remember Anthem and the gameplay they show us =P
@@jairusstrunk94 videos of gameplay can be very misleading and at best only show a tiny fraction of a world with none of the issues that a large population will cause. A gameplay video might be relatively easy to make, but MMOs are vast with an even bigger infrastructure to support all the systems such as crafting, cosmetics, combat etc.
The node system is genuinely one of the coolest features I've ever seen in a game. The ability to grow and shape a settlement by doing normal adventuring activities seems really fun and offers a lot of possibilities. I hope it takes off and becomes something other games imitate. I'm imagining other games that work well in, such as a post apocalyptic setting like Grim Dawn, seeing settlements grow and shrink as you contribute or ignore them would add a lot of personality to different playthroughs, even in a single player game.
This feeling... This game is one of the best games I think ive ever seen

This game sounds like everything id ever want in a mmorpg and even more! If this game holds true and fulfills all of its potential, it may start a new era to mmorpgs in general
Honestly, I am not believing in "the perfect mmorpg" again. I wish this game could achieve what it's going for, but... you know how it is. We should be skeptical of games which promise too much.
My thoughts exactly
100%. The internet is littered with the corpses of 'next big thing' MMOs. Still, I can't help but get at least a little interested in a game that promises shades of UO, EQ, and WoW in one.
There will never be a 'perfect mmorpg' that's too unrealistic, I've been in most of the ashes twitch streams and from what I see, they have been doing really well with that they promised and I'm definitely excited. But I am biased as I've followed them since kickstarter 😁
very true. but the men in charge did an interview with asmongold and with shroud/summit1g and it sounds like he understands whats important in an mmoRPG. So my hype for this game did go up quite a lot the last few days.
Where is it claiming to be 'perfect', you're reaching for argumentation. I agree btw, not only might this not be perfect, it might as well be a hoax *gasps*. On the other hand, this isn't 2008 where most commenters pull their 'wow killer failure' facts and arguments from but one full decade after, during which we have seen nothing but failed or semi-failed projects which did nothing but heighten the demand for mmorpgs. So basically all of us are doing nothing but guessing but the developers are steadily releasing footage and info which is reaffirming their stance and promises. So I'm going with optimism as they haven't yet done any of the NMS or Activision bullshit that people are being wary about. Who wants to play 'insert game' from 2 decades ago for eternity?
Becoming Mayor sounds like a lifelong commitment, I can imagine players giving the Mayor a really hard time if they are not online for a few days!
There are players out there for woW, Everquest etc that made it their life. I definitely see after 6 months or so most mayors begin those kind of players
the mayors in these games will be the kind of high level player we all secretly know has a severe gaming problem but nobody will say anything about it.
just be a famous streamer and boom, you have your mayor position secured

that system where the aesthetic of a city is based on the faction that has contributed to the node the most might be one of the greatest aspects off the game for me!.. wow!
One feature I would love to see is a mechanic for players to issue quests to other players/guilds. You mentioned the potential for mercenary guilds to become a thing. And I'd love to see well off guilds paying smaller guilds to outsource some resource gathering to guilds that specialize in such tasks and so on. Or crafting guilds issuing quests to combat guilds to help them venture into tougher dungeons for better crafting materials.

@Swadian Knight God forbid people like... things?
@Swadian Knight That remains to be seen, but throwing in a cute mount is standard advertising for an mmorpg, and considering it got all of like 8 seconds in this trailer, isn't really much of an indicator of its potential

This one looks like mmorpg should be, but it is way too ambitious. Like Chronicles of Elyria it may break, or like Star Citizen never see light.
If it releases, and everything described actually works, and hackers do not break it, THAN there is a chance for a new KING of Online Gaming.

Thankyou for taking the time to make this video. This looks unreal. The veteran warcraft community is screaming for something like this since the values and morals of the old blizzard team have been derailed by the greed of the activision takeover. It would be awesome if devs could get in touch with former blizzard guys like metzen and morhaime. Thanks again mate will keep a keen and patient eye out for updates on this.

That age old saying: "if it seems too good to be true, it usually is". Will be checking it out IF it ever releases with all these promises.
Key word is usually. Roll the dice often enough and its bound to hit that 6. How many times have we rolled the dice on a new mmo now? With such a passionate guy behind this, if the game fails, then I don't think any new MMO will make it.

The trademarked Peon MMO Formula:
1. Notice it First
2. Hype
3. MORE HYPE!!
4. Review
5. Disappointment
6. Repeat step 1.
Pretty sad but accurate. Ofc you want an unbelievably good mmorpg, but peon shouldn't be hyped up by developer's information.
Peon: "EXCITING MMO!"
Me: "Yes this appears to be a generic MMO..."
There's nothing wrong with that, until you get tired of it (and at that point you have another problem).
Either way, letting yourself get hyped and support possibilities helps the actual thing to become reality. In his case, by supporting the game, the devs, letting others feel okay supporting them too and all that. And while that sucks in retrospect, when it fails and we get disappointed, we shouldn't let that stop us from supporting, because otherwise you deny supporting and hinder the upcoming of good projects.
this isn't a peon exclusive thing. This is literally all of us that are trying to find a good mmo these days. Unless you by some miracle stuck with FFXIV or ESO or something, that really hasn't been anything released recently that has kept any of us and we went through this exact formula, and we will continue to go through this exact formula until something good does come out.

More than anything I would like Intrepid to start releasing lore content for Ashes of Creation ... I know for some people, they only care about game play and couldn't care less about characters or reading quest text ... But for others, it's what pulls us into the game. It's what makes us actually care about the world we're in.
Most likely won't. Steven (CEO) has said he want to keep the lore close to heart until the game releases.
True, but they still release bits of lore on their social media.
They also released lore each months with cosmetics items and also with quests in AoC Apocalypse which are all available on the wiki
This! I love game lore, but I hate it when NPC's just throw a generic wall of text at you explaining the world and stuff in detail. I love it when a game tells a story through its world and through short lines from NPC's like they expect you to know the lore for the world since you're in it.
haven't read the lore whatsover yet thats offered but seems like the basic setting is "This planet that we're on had many civilizations, something happened, then ashes of creation apocalypse happens? where everyone is at war, then in the end something wiped out the population. So now we've travelled back to this planet(steven mentioned something like that, so idk where we were besides on this planet) and we're rebuilding and our goal is to find out what caused the destruction in the past.

the thing that really interests me about this game is that the creative director was a huge Lineage 2 player, and he admits a lot of his inspiration derives from that game. Which is why the open world PvP and PK penalty system seems to similar. It takes the castle/town aspect of L2 and really expands on it with this games Node system. right? just look at Chronicles of Elyria...
This sounds like a game RYPE for exploitation.....that many classes pfft bet only 5 or 6 will actually be useful and required in alpha guilds to use. Taking those cities will be IMPOSSIBLE if the dominant guild on the server takes them and holds them. I can imagine a professional guild from another mmo thats been playing together for a decade to come to this game and just completely take everything....the flying mounts the best city spawns ect.....I'm not seeing how this will be fair to an "average" gamer in any way. Even with the grief system people will have alts eventually and they can just switch characters and continue griefing because why not? I see a life sinking abyss here for trolls and scummy players to really sink there teeth into.

I'm not hyped because I somehow have unrealistic expectations because of this video so don't get me wrong. I'm hyped because it's a potentially different direction for the mmorpg genre.
.
Simply doing endless amounts of filler side quests used to lengthen the games lifespan has taken a huge toll on my mind over the years. I feel like the mmorpg genre as a whole needs to be shifted in another direction, one without time-gating or filled with impact-less features that don't really matter.
.
Im simply hyped for this game because as of watching this video I can tell this is going to be something different than every other mmorpg. Originally when I first heard about this game I thought it was going to be like 3 nodes all in constant pvp with each other like factions from wow or eso or something. I honestly thought it could be a 3d version of that full loot steam pvp game albion online... I didn't really have a good impression of the game overall and let the game fade out of my memory.
.
This game will probably be a nice breath of fresh air at the very least. I don't think we're going to get the most amazing experience or one even remotely close to what was shown in this video because not everyone has a nasa super computer, but simply by them changing the mmorpg formula it will be very refreshing and enough for me to at the very least look into trying.
.
Not everything is a positive though. I don't like the fact that the player base will be split over multiple servers. I think this will negatively impact the game and I personally dislike this kind of game mechanic. If the world is big enough to host 10k players, instead of having multiple servers, why not just have multiple channels instead? That way you can group with your friends and not have to worry about their server filling up and you getting stuck in a queue or being unable to ever join their server. It's just an inconvenience.
.
Overall i'm simply hyped for the games unique take on the mmorpg formula, and for the doors this game COULD open for the mmorpg genre as a whole. I do have my expectations for the game in check though. Lag / latency, optimization and graphic appearance on low end pcs, lots of factors will contribute to whether this game is an amazing experience. Still hyped though.
I'm worried that this will be a problem with streamers having the ability to just own the server. Like they'll decide to power level a node and their viewers will help. Then when it's time for a different node, suddenly a good portion of the server is sieging the metropolis. I like the idea of some people or guilds being extremely influential on the server but it would be much cooler if it was organic instead of based on real-world following. Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible in the age of Twitch.
At least the destruction of that Metropolis will be watched by hundreds of thousands of viewers, perhaps even 1M on that streamer's twitch and youtube "highlight" reel and not just another unknown battle on just another unknown server between two kings no one heard of. Imagine it... as the godless streamer lands his ancient fire breathing dragon next to the beaten Monarch/High Priest of this once great Divine node he'll look the streamer king in his eyes and then at the twitch camera and shout for all the spergs to hear, "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!" and with that the dragon mount bits his head off and his royal robes fall to the dirt. But what then happens to a godless streamer who destroys the only Divine metropolis on the server? An entire city devoted to the Gods. Do you think the Gods will not seek revenge? That streamer will want to get his generals back to his castle and his royal crafters upgrading their walls further because that next night if he has any brains he'll know a horde of monsters are coming for him, with champions of the Gods as their generals. The sound of thunder is a cloudless sky upon the death of the divine king should be his warning.

this sounds like the mmo I wish we had, when reading novels about video games and them being fully immersed in the greatest game ever.
infinite dendogram vibes
I'm really hopeful but skeptical. As a veteran mmo player, I'm particularly worried about the idea of trade hubs and stock exchanges being destructible. One city's destruction over the weekend by a troll army could have huge effects on economy of the game. To give an example of how bad this could get, imagine spending 200+ hours of griending just to get a particular rare drop, putting it on the market to sell over the weekend, coming back on Monday to find the towns been completely nuked and all your hard work is now gone. And also if you're a filthy capitalist dog like I am having my millions of gold flipping trades suddenly disappear would be devastating. Also it's unclear if banks can be destroyed too, so you could potentially lose everything in one day Even if you're logged off.
Also I feel it's worth mentioning that nodes being reset creates its own issues and it's highly unlikely that many nodes will ever become a metropolis. as there will be constant wars resetting everything back to zero.
Another thing that bothers me is the player killing system in regards to becoming corrupted. Sure you can become a criminal, but what's the incentive to pk other players if you're penalized for it? Now I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any penalties for murder in game, however nerfing offender's damage and allowing him/her to lose their items removes any reason why anyone would ever wanna do it, outside of trolling purposes, which is exactly the kind of thing you don't want your pvp community to be consisted of. It's also unclear if you get to loot other players on death, which if you can't, would mean PKing would be absolutely pointless.
All and all, there's ton of potential here, but also alot that could be executed poorly, or even exploitable under the right conditions. Will I still sink hundreds of hours into it? Definitely, but for the issues mentioned above I'm still very skeptical. We shall see

What experience has taught me: Most likely it will fail at delivering half what it sets out to do.
Either will be underwhelming or will take like 6 more years of development
Yeah the more and more this video dragged on about the just endless amount of things planned for the game the more and more my excitement dropped. Definitely seems like they're trying to do waaaaay too much straight out of the gate and I bet on release most of it will be half complete or non existent because even though they spent a shit ton of time programming it they couldn't get a working version done fast enough. It's such a stupid mistake that so many developers make. They should just create a super solid super enjoyable base game, release it, and then work on constant updates adding things. Instead it seems like they're trying to tackle waaay too many massive things all at once and they're eventually just going to run out of funding and be forced to release a half complete mess in a desperate attempt to keep funding it's development.

@@djgolden5903 In a perfect world that is what we would get. But the problem with games like this is that they set their goals and ambitions so high without having a logical road plan in place that they almost always fail to deliver. They spend years and years making their game but eventually the money well runs dry and they end up screwed. They end up having to release some 1/4th complete disappointing mess as a last ditch effort to bring in more money to keep their funding alive. And it's a failure for everyone involved, developers and players alike. When it comes to a game like this they need a much more structured and logical road plan that involves releasing a solid and polished game asap and then fleshing it out to the extremes over time. Not trying to go to the extremes right out the gate. I hope they can accomplish what they want, but I am not optimistic.
