The nimble design and plentiful low-end power combine with smart features for an ideal transportation solution through busy streets and bumpy trails. The bodywork is inspired by Dakar Rally racebikes, which means it looks as good as it performs. The tall windscreen provides solid protection against the elements. And the long motocross-style seat gives you all-day comfort and allows you to easily move around in the saddle. If you have a dual sport that’s even lighter and more affordable in mind, make sure you check out our honda CRF300L.
Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.
Yamaha Tenere 700:
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 is a midsize adventure/dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha since 2019. It features a 689 cc (42.0 cu in) parallel-twin engine which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and chain drive. Brakes are equipped with rider-switchable (on-off) ABS. The "baby Ténéré" is the latest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré desert stage of the Dakar Rally in the Sahara. The successor to Yamaha's XT660Z Ténéré was first announced as the T7 concept at the 2016 EICMA with an anticipated production launch in 2018. A refined concept was publicized a year later.
Yamaha announced that delivery of bikes would begin in Europe in July 2019, and only the following year to the USA due to emissions and other regulatory delays. The liquid-cooled 4-stroke 8-valve DOHC engine with crossplane crankshaft was already in use and well reviewed in Yamaha's MT-07 naked and Tracer 700 sport touring bikes.

I'm an old guy who's looking for my 1st bike in a long time.... lol, it'll be 2-3 months before I've got enough money to move
but you've got to add in riding accessories, tags/title -n- license, and insurance as well. I'm excited so ty for feeding me...
peace
The used market is insane at least in MA where i am. Bought my first bike last year and initially wanted used but saving 2000 over a new bike to buy a 20 year old beater just wasn't worth it. I ended up buying a new klx230 for 5500 all in. Comparable used bikes were going for 3000-4500 for 10-20 year old bikes. Definitely not worth the savings. Buying used you obv have cash go take out a loan for the remaining ammount and get a free 1 year warranty with the new bike.
Agree. The bikes he's showing above are 1989-1991. 34 yr old bikes!! Talk about breaking down away from home deep in the woods w/old beat on bikes from previous owners.
Agree people with used bikes think they are gold. But none of them keep up maintenance on even a 5 yr old bike. Cracked hoses with carbs will cause lots of issues.
Wow your area is crazy you need go out state. Used top tier bikes are everywhere here in colorado for cheap. Found This week alone in colorado-
2021 ktm adventurer $4k
2020 husqvarna vitplien $3.5k
2020 royal Enfield himalayan $3k
2019 kawasaki klx250 1k miles $3k.
2017 honda crf 250 $3k.
2017 honda crf 250 rally $3.8k.
2019 yamaha xt 250 $3k.
2006 suzuki dr400 $1.8k.
2007 yamaha xt225 $1.8k.
2000 kawasaki kl 250 super sherpa $800
@@dylano7242im im colorado where'd you find these?
That warranty isn't free. It's figured into the price
I scored!
I found a 96 xr600r, with a Baja Designs dual sport kit.
Race Tech suspension, recent top end and clutch (reciepts).
New tires and tubes, chain and sprockets, IMS tank, bark busters, bars and risers, FMF exhaust...the whole 9 yards
The guy was an older rider, who had all of this work done to it, but had recently suffered some health issues.
So....he couldn't start it!!!
He said that he had several guys come to look at it....but apparently, none of them knew the starting procedure. (No e start.)
So he refused to sell it to them.
So, as a former XR owner, I knew how to start it.
He told me.
...if you can start it, it's yours.
I did the deal, and it started, first big kick.
This guy lit up like times square!
He said that he had been waiting for the right guy to come along, so his bike would go to the right rider.
That was 18 years ago, and I still have it...and, still talk to the old guy that I bought it from, a couple of times a year.
Oh, the stories I've heard!!!
Bikes are the glue that holds a lot of us riders together, even after many years. Best community on the planet!!!!
All bikes in general are higher than they should be,.....I don't know if they have Bike Fever or lots of sentimental value for the high mileage bike they wore out and they expect you to pay them enough to buy a new one?
The ones $1000.00- $3000.00 have problem's and don't usually run.
Or their very high mileage.
You usually need to be in the right place at the right time and a Bike shop can never be the right place that's like going to a scalper.
Just bought a 2006 bmw f650gs for $1300. Going to commute and take it on trails for a while. 32k miles on it and counting. I’m in Northern California.
250 is the sweet spot for dual sport motorcycles
250s are too slow. I would love some 450 or 500 cc
@@Georgeqaws it’s a matter of balancing power or speed with agility. However Honda makes a CRF 450L which I believe is as lite or lighter than the 300. It’s a very serious machine. You will pay though. Around 10K. I’ve settled upon the CRF300L which I believe will give me enough power without pinching my wallet more than I feel comfortable with
The bikes your showing are roughly 1989-1991. That's 32-34 yr old dual sport motorcycles. Not a easy living 34 yr old street bike. But a 34 yr old dual sport thats probably been ridden hard. Everyone knows what I'm talking about. Last thing I want is to break down w/a 34 yr old dual sport bike 40 miles from home deep in the woods. Odds are pretty good it might happen. Better off spending the extra $2,000 and purchase a new trouble free bike or one that is 2-3 yrs old.
I think you mean "You're" and I showed early 2000s KLR, DR650, 650L. You can also get newer XT250s. I do see your point but not all these bikes are 32-34yrs old. Also I might add some of the 90s bikes are more reliable then the bikes of today.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad Exactly. They'll obviously need a thorough check over and some refreshing, but their relative simplicity makes it easy even for less experienced DIYers.
I'd get a Suzuki DR 200. Those Suzuki DR two valve motors from 100-230cc are absolutely indestructible.Low seat height, big tank and great handling too.
Honda xl 250 r or 350 or 650 . are the best . !
I owned a 2017 xr650l with only 2700 miles picked it up for 3000 road it for one season..it's a great bike but it's a big red pig off road.. also currently own a 1990 xt350 and just got done refurbishing it..as far as the dr350 and the xt350 be aware parts are hard to get especially any of the plastics and turn signals
Klr 250? Klr 650 might be the most boring bike ive owned. Cant imagine the 250.
W vid idk between xr or I think xt I’m not tall lol but dang I’m boutta binge on yo channel lol
WTF is the do-hicky ?
It is a piece or metal the keeps spring tension on the cylinder head counter balancer.
Good info on inexpensive used dual sport bikes. These smaller bikes are a lot of fun to ride and are cheap to own.
I always loved a small displament dual sport.
Prices after the sickness scam are insane.
The sickness scam LOL 😅 that is what it was. It did not fall out of sky it was made & given to every nation by lovely wako us gov.
Used to have a Yamaha Xt 350 would wheelie in first and second from throttle alone, really reliable as well wish i never sold mine
Currently the drz 400 might be the best bike in tbis price range. Maybr up to 4k. Amazing all around bike
Agreed. I just changed the gearing to 16/39 and I'm never looking back!
Washer under needle valve? Heard it before
Very helpful video!
A decent xr 650l will set you back 5k. Under 3 k will be a piece of crap
Yeah that might be, I like to restore/fix up bikes myself.
I lucked out in the right place at the right time. I know I got a smoking deal. But only paid $1,500 for my “06 with 6k miles. It’s a great bike I’ll keep it forever.
The doohickey is under the thing, above that metal part...
Of course used bikes are cheaper than new bikes, thats an obvious conclusion.
Does the Bashan have a gear indicator, just out of curiosity?
Drz400E
I think the Yamaha XT225/250 have a 6 speed, not a 5 speed. Keep up the great content, thanks!
Hey man that's for the comment but I feel you are mistaken. I had an XT225 it had a 5 speed.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad right you are, my mistake! I’ve always thought those had a 6spd, which made it more appealing to me. How’s the ratio on the 5?
@@MotorcyclesOffroad XT225’s have a 6th gear, XT250’s have 5 only
@@yoda4runner137 my 1992 xt225 has 6 gears
XT225 has six speeds and the XT 250 is only five speeds. Odd that they change the gearing but that’s what they did.
Cool video
Thank you, and thanks for commenting.
COOL VIDEO about motorcycles fun fun & freedom.
Nice review. Thinking your specs on the klr 650 h.p. were a tad high the 2022 only pumps out about 35 still a solid bike. Buddy's got a 2012 never asked for anything.
Yeah they are a super reliable bike. I'm not sure exactly what the horsepower is at the crank vs dyno but anyone who has a klr doesn't have it for the power.
Ben Shapiro rides?!
Imo avoid the overpriced used market honda just came out with the xr150l for only 3000$ for a new dualsport bike there isn't much competition for what you get.
Ahh yeah, well I dont know if we will get it where I live in the US. 150cc is not enough for how big the country is and the roads here.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad that's valid
where do you look for them, just google?
Those all look like Facebook Marketplace ads. Cycletrader and Craigslist are also good places to look.
The XR400 is a nice used bike if you can find one.
I always thought they shoulve kept the 400 if anything.
I’ve been looking at DR350’s and DR650’s for a second bike to my KLR.
Isnt dr650 gonna be basically the same thing?
No! DR is about 100 lbs lighter. I ride a DR all over mountain trails and back roads. Can go highways but little wind protection.KLR has better highway wind protection because of fairings.
@@geraltofrivia4651 My KLR is a Gen 2 so it’s about 80 pounds heavier wet than the DR650 and has fairings and a windscreen. Also the stock tank is almost 6 gallons so part of the extra weight is fuel. The DR will be a lot more nimble but less comfortable on the highway. The factory DR tank will have half the range but I would replace it with a bigger one.
You must be close to me, I saw some of these bikes in my FB marketplace search.
Haha maybe, I centered the search at king of Prussia PA.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad I was there a few months back for business. Love a few hours away in northern Maryland
Klx’s 300’s are fun on and off road.
I can agree with that statement
What about the Honda xr150l ? Anyone tried that
I’ve been looking into those they aren’t expensive new it’s like 3500, they have decent reviews it’s a good starter dirt/road bike
I’ve got a crf150r and it’s a great bike. I’m guessing the L is pretty much the same thing but legal
Street legal just means turn signals
No not really, and in fact in my state turn signals are not needed. You need front and rear lights at the national standard for brightness, working brake lights, horizontal speedometer, and a strong enough stator that supports it. Many dirtbikes are AC like my KDX, which means modifications to the stator to covert to DC for an addition of a battery so the lights dont dim when you are not on the throttle. And today's standard most of the world besides US needs ABS if it's sold new.
@@MotorcyclesOffroad ooh I would like to get a bare bones Honda XR150 with ABS. You’re right though. I forgot that dirt bikes don’t need lights. Which makes zero sense to me. Even my e bike comes standard with a headlight
good job
Thank you 👍
Thank you 🙏
No thank you 🙏
Nice video great variety & you even spoke about the CCP motorcycle. I've always wondered about these Chinese bikes? I would like to keep those buddies of the nut who is the face of America who was forced on US citizens out of USA. The buddy ccp yuk. I love American made.
What a great video. Low cost bikes!
Great video man. Thanks for throwing this together!
