Surfing Sumba, Culture, Traditions & Empty Waves

Filmed during The Pasola event in February 2019. The Pasola is a ritual that gathers tribes from different villages and engage them into a horse riding battle. They used to believe that 'the more blood was spelt on the grass, the better the harvest.' This being said, it is not as bloody as it used to be and it is monitored by the police nowadays. I went there two times at on a surf trip same rainy season period in 1990 , (always glassy but smaller , expect 15 days of surf per month sometimes big ), pasola festival & great surf at Nihiwatu , tarimbang , & south breaks , two monthes in the " Pak Metebulu loss weight clinic homestay " for cheaper than cheap... nicest Tarimbang ever in this vid , fuck Mr Claude & his private resort this said ..
