Thanks for the review Patrick. In the past 4 years, I've had the iRig, the iRig HD2, the iRig Acoustic Studio, the iRig Studio USB mic, They all work perfectly, are value for money and despite being plastic, they have never broken. I'm a fan. I am pleased to see that they continue to develop new models for the iOS environment users.
I have used the iRig HD2 for years with great results. The thing I love the most about it is that it will connect to an iPhone or iPad and not require an additional power source. The ultimate in mobility.
Thanks Man, love your work! very helpful. One thing I'd mention - the previuos cable iteration wasn't a proprietary cable, it just an older type phone plug at the iRig end
Great to see Irig has caught up a bit but still love my fender mustang micro its got its own amps and effects built in plus USBc to hook up to iPad iPhone etc.
We are spoilt with so many choices , thanks for your comments on how you use the Fender Mustang Micro, it's one I've been considering along with the mooer Prime p1 and now this new iRig
Excellent video. However have you done, or, could you do a video explaining how to set up and use this setup with a midi and/or Bluetooth foot controller pedal for hand free, patch changes etc? Appreciation and thanks in advance. PS. For your information, I have a Singular Sound (Midi Maestro pedal) plus the Singular Sound Beat Buddy and Aeros Looper! Cheers. 😊🙏
iRig HD2 is not proprietary connector, it's a standard micro-USB, also, they removed the input gain control on this one that was available on HD2, it has the same sample rates and bit depth as HD2 and same I/O connectors, the tuner is not useful and the "loopback" is already achievable with HD2 or any other interface if used within AUM, I don't see much improvement on this one and no need to upgrade for iRig HD2 users
Dig that HB JM baritone behind you! My GF gifted me a 30" scale dual humbucker offset Firefly last Valentine's Day. I think with shipping it was maybe $180?! Tuning machines aren't exactly to my liking but other than that?! Who does't want drop G through a BMP Deluxe? Ha! It definitely "dooms".🙃
So I've had an iRig HD for a long time now, thinking of upgrading, but wondering if this would actually be an upgrade in terms of tone over the first iRig HD? The HD works fine for me, I use it for guitar practice, but if this actually sounded better then I'd considering getting the HD X...
edit: my problem seems to be that the HD X doesn't connect to iPhones since some recent iOS update. Huge bummer. Is there such a thing as a firmware update, or will it forever be less than advertised?
Isn’t the USB C thing part of the EU legislation change? Same thing that is forcing Apple to adopt it?? Hopefully an end to the madness of proprietary cables!
Mine doesn't work...... first the output signal is terribly low DB. I have to turn my iPad volume up to max. More importantly.... it doesn't seem to work with Loopy Pro. I've spent HOURS on forums and what not, trying to get help with it - to no avail.
Warning; Irig HD X doesn't work with Neural Amp Modeler, or any other software that isn't proprietary or developed by IK Multimedia. I can't even get it to work with Mixcraft. It has been a USELESS PIECE OF JUNK! The tuner on this thing isn't even accurate. My Korg CA 50 is a better tuner.
What a waste of time! Where are the sound demos? Just the guitar on its own without the backing music! Sorry but this did not convince me to purchase this item. Will look for someone else who will focus on just the guitar tones. Not subscribing and this probably is sponsored !!
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video Phil. As I clearly state in the video, while IK Multimedia did supply me with an iRig HD X unit for review purposes, this is not a sponsored video.
@@TheGaragebandGuide Fair enough but you could at least focus on the guitar tones - which im pretty sure a lot of us would love to hear and not mixed with a song. So this video for me is totally pointless if im looking to purchase - need to hear the tones from clean to crunch to dirt!

I gave a kiss to the like button 😂😂😂 thank you for the review, that helped a lot!

Thanks for that, I thought they were all proprietary.

Exactly my thoughts! And it has Bluetooth that takes IN any jam track or anything you want to jam along to

I will need to check this out for myself. I’m wary whenever a review stresses pros and points out no cons.
I've owned the iRig, iRig HD, and currently use an iRig HD2. They do the job quite well imo. I know I'll end up getting this one too 😂
I’ve had loads of them over the years too. Can’t beat them for portability!
Quick question, Are you able to use a battery bank as power just to use the direct monitoring function without a phone/pc?
@@beyondtim I use a usb powered hub to handle that. hope that helps!
Looks pretty good. I will check it out further.

Would you consider a video on setting up an IG or TT live stream through an interface?
Great idea!

Agreed. It is mostly a refresh for new buyers imo. Ik doesn't try to present it's product as a fomo cash grab for existing customers.
My Scott ancestry always smiles a bit when watching your demos my dude! Ha!
I enjoyed the Midi in on older iRig pro to change presets on the fly on iPad for Live stage gigs.
How about a shoot about between this and the positive grid "Riff" ? - all metal construction similar features.
Sounds amazing ❤.

I was hoping that there would’ve been Bluetooth connectivity instead of plugging your headphones into the iRig HD X
Bluetooth provides too much latency to be usable for music creation.
Love the video man! But every time I try and use the fx while my amp is hooked up I only get feedback and I’ve got no idea how to fix this issue.
Does this work for recording videos on your phone?
Is is compatible with android devices ?

How can you connect to iPhone then to a physical amp? iRig used to do that
With the dedicated Amplifier output.
I’m going to buy this a talk box and a wah pedal

Shoot…. If this is compatible with a 5th gen IPad, I’ll be in business! Yes, I know it’s an older model. 🤷♂️
It’s compatible with the 5th gen according to IK’s website: www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irighdx/index.php?p=specs
@@TheGaragebandGuide Thank you! 😃

will standard usb c to lighting cable works?
What About Latency? is this solve all the issues with Latency Delay while play and listen? Not asking about while recording..
Latency hd2 vs hdx?
He doesnt care, he just wants to push the product. Annoying how every damn video on YT skipes the most important question
I don’t own the HD 2 Unfortunately.
Why do I want to ‘push’ the product? Perhaps I missed this comment? Did you consider that?
Am I able to play through the iPad speakers with this?

Doesn’t get loud enough on iPhone 15. My sound waves are always flat
Is the input jack TS or TRS?
Does anyone know if I can plug the line out of my amp into one of these?
Al a fresco riffage…… yeah great. You forgot to hit the like button ad.
I wish I could get this to work with the Steam Deck
Is anyone else having issues with quiet sound bars? Flatline sound?
Holy 😮

I'm having the same issue. Did you find an answer?
u can just see what type of failure it is going to come already,
