  • Nightwish released Élan in February 13, 2015. The single also contains the song "Sagan", a bonus track what will not be released on Endless Forms Most Beautiful. The song is about astrophysicist and science communicator Carl Sagan.
    LYRICS:
    Make me wonder
    Make me understand
Spark the light of doubt and a newborn mind
Bring the vast unthinkable down to earth
Always wary of a captive thought
Beware the very first unkind word
See who you are, where from, what of
    Entering the unknown
Sending all the poets to the stars
Daring to see beyond the manmade
Woe to you who evade the horizon
    Listening to Sagan
    Dreaming Carl Sagan
    Unseen streams
With understanding no poet is trapped
Woe to all who stop at the horizon
What kind of world would we call home
    Our own
Oasis of love, humility and hope
Eradicating all that's not for life
What kind of aim would we call high
What kind of life would bathe in the brightest white
    A limitless world will rise
Son of man, dare to let go of cowardice

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it
everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every
human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our
joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and
economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward,
every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant,
every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child,
inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt
politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and
sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust
    suspended in a sunbeam.

2:47 Tuomas is really a genius, here is the theme of The Understanding, the fourth part of The Greatest Show On Earth. I like how in this song (TGSOE), he took some elements from other songs on the album and integrated them wonderfully into the whole songs. And now I discover he even did it with the Bonus Track ! Well done, very well done.

Nuclear Blast has recently had something similar with the new Sabaton album. First album track apparently missing online, which is especially annoying since musically the last tracks references the first one (first about the start (sarajevo), last about the end of the war).

Why this song is not in efmb-album?

    • @PB-Trinity
      @PB-Trinity 9 лет назад +8

***** In an interview for the official NW french website Marco said it was because they lacked some memory space on CDs to make the songs fitting on only one so one song had to be taken out. Probably what happened with Dark Passion Play and the Escapist as well (DPP is only 3 minutes shorter than EFMB)...
