I recently bought a different air pump after seeing rivers and coffee doing a review on it. I haven’t used it yet but it looks nice in the box. Yours looks nice too. Hopefully you don’t have to replace yours every year. Having it go bad at 13 months is just cruel. 👍19
Yeah, the having it go just after the warranty expired was a little sad😔 It did complete the job of airing up my tires the one last time before it packed it in though😁
Nice review At, thanks! So far I haven had issues with my tires, thank goodness. I try not to go off-road though. What I really like about this is that it’s good for inflating lots of things, like bike tires and balls - I like the multi-use aspect. 👌 Plus, is sounds like the price is right! 👍👍😄
going off-road is really hard on the tires! That is why I will air down before travelling on the dirt roads. It helps by allowing the tires to form over the rocks rather than try to be a barrier to them and then get punctured.
I would just suggest to get one that connects to the battery terminals on the car rather than plugging into the 12-volt socket inside. The ones that connect directly to the battery have more power and can inflate your tires more quickly.
I have the same one. Got mine for 69$ on sale I’ve had it for three years I think, but tbh I haven’t really used it much. They are pretty efficient. I took the original fitting off the end and forced a 1/4” npt Chuck into the hose so I could use a better inflator and an air nozzle. I can also use an extension hose now if needed. That worked out ok Did have it mounted under the hood of my bronco sport but recently took it out, cleaned it up and it now lives in the rear seat cubby my badlands model has. Fit perfect and easy access. Great review on this. I’m now waiting for mine to die lol
I think I purchased my original one on sale for the same $69 sale. I air down all the time when I hit the dirt roads...now. I didn't used to and one fateful night, I got two flat tires in a row...that sucked! I also had a crappy tire inflator that would take 30 minutes to fill up a tire so it could not help me out then. Airing down has worked to get less punctures on the rocks. I've thought about putting a different air chuck on mine. I may still do it. I wouldn't put mine under my hood. It's to wet under there. I go through too many puddles, lol😂😂 Yours may not die, but even if it does, it has really given you its worth. You could have bought a $1,000 unit that would need to be replaced in a few years anyway😁
@@agesadventures very true. I actually move mine from under the hood initially because I had to have a purge valve replaced and it was in the way of some of the hosing. When I got it out it was relatively dirty but I figured that cubby was a great place for it. I haven’t gone off road in a year lol my hobbies are strange, I go hard and fast for a certain time then move on to a new one …rinse and repeat haha
Yes, I was lucky to catch this one in time. Canadian Tire is also pretty good with returns too. I'd guess they are similar to your Harbor Freight stores. I've never been to a Harbor Freight, but it sounds like they sell the same kind of stuff. Some credit cards also have extended warranty protection so it may be an idea to buy bigger purchases on them.
@@agesadventures Yes, I like harbor freight for certain types of tools we don't use all the time. We use a hydraulic log splitter we bought there a few years ago. Perfect for the once or twice a year we split firewood.
I have a DeWalt battery jumper with built in air compressor and it works pretty good as well. Yours looks like it does the job though. Nice review and have yourself a great weekend my friend.
It really is a great piece of gear, especially when you air down your tires a lot to go off-road😁 The gas (petrol) stations around here now charge to put air in your tires too. So you can have this and save a little money.
Thanks for the review, I have a smaller version of that one. So far so good but I don't have to use it that often since I'm usually not on rocky backroads like you are. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks, Daryl😁 I figured it was a good time to revisit this one and let people know how they last. It would probably last longer if I used it less and didn't take it on bouncy roads😀 It's good that you have one for your vehicle too. They charge for air at the gas stations in BC, do they do the same in Ontario?
@@agesadventures Yeah, they do. I think it started about 15 years ago - much to my consternation. Oh well, I know it costs them money to maintain those things so I guess I can't complain.
@@flynorthproductions the gas stations used to do a heck of a lot more for our business. Now we do it all and they take the extra profits. I'd rather they got rid of point cards and went back to full service.
Unfortunately we have the same issue with the unit not being accurate. In our case it seems to over-fill. We always double check with our little tire gauge to make sure we have the proper pressure. More often than not we have to take some air out. Not a big deal at all, considering the price paid for the unit. All the best, Michelle and Holger🙏
I'm fine if it does it consistently. Then you know what to expect. My last one just seemed to choose random numbers about 5 pounds around what I picked, lol😂 The current one seems to be doing a good job😁
Such a compressor is good to have in the car. As well as a tire repair kit. My air compressor is much smaller and it probably wouldn't work for big tires. Maybe I'll update it for a better one sometime. It works in my car, but it's not top quality.
I used to have an older compressor that would take 30 minutes or longer to refill one of the big tires on my Jeep. Not very good. I now have this compressor and a kit to plug holes in tires. I also have downloaded videos on fixing tires to my cellphone so I can watch them off-line if needed. I have the tools to remove my tire from the rim and I have patches for inside the tire too. I don't think I'll ever need to do that, but I do go off road to some remote places so I don't want to be stranded. This was a pretty affordable compressor that I show. It cost about $100 Canadian and it will sometimes go on sale for cheaper.

It's a good idea to have something like this on hand. This one may be on sale this weekend. It is here in B.C. You save 15% at Canadian Tire. If you get low tires all the time you may have a slow leak somewhere. It's a pain because most service stations now charge for using the air pumps so this will save you a little bit of money along the way.
@agesadventures yea, I have q screw in my tire that I havn't got around to fixing yet 😅 I got it right after I did my breaks, figures I had the wheels off already and I could have patched it then and there.
Hey Age, I learned a while ago from CT, keep your receipts. They are difficult to deal with for returns if you don't have receipts. Motomaster stuff is OK but definitely seems lower quality.
I do keep the receipts for all items that I buy from there with a warranty. I also buy them on the Triangle Credit Card too so that also helps. They look up the transactions on the card. Some of the stuff is definitely lower quality. At least not built for bouncing around in the back of a Jeep and then used in hard conditions. I think this one is worth it though, even if I've had to use the warranty. We'll see.
Hello. I just finished watching the review. I have one of these and intend on using for off-road use. I have tested on my little 89 GMC Tracker with 235/75/15 tires. I have a 2 tire deflation/inflation digital gauge. I have found that it will not inflate 2 tires at once hooked up to the dual tire inflation gauge. Have you ever attempted this, or just single tire inflation? It does single tire inflate for sure, but I'm disappointed by not being able to inflate two tires at once. Overall it appears fine. Let me know if you've tried this, and with any success. Cheers!
I have not tried this with 2 tires at once or even the quad tire inflation devices. I've just been using it for single tire inflation. So I have to move around the Jeep for each tire. When it rains, I have the inflator inside the Jeep while it's running, because the inflator is not rated to get wet. I'd love to have a system where I could inflate 2 tires at once or even four tires at once. That would be more convenient. I may have to look at an on-board air compressor for that. As you say, these single tire inflators still do the job sufficiently so I'm ok with it. I use the extra time to get myself all packed up for heading back to town. Thanks for having a look and let me know if you ever get yours to work with the 2 tire gauge.
Yeah, it was a little frustrating to have it go, right after the warranty expired. It gave me signs that it was going before them, but I did not understand them at the time as a sign. I air down quite a lot for the dirt roads and need something to air back up again when I'm ready to hit the pavement. This worked. I have an older little one, but it just wasn't practical for filling up all four tires. It would take about 25 minutes for one tire. This one does a tire in about 2 minutes. It's a good thing your wife has one. They are quite handy these days!
i have a small compressor ($50) for my scoot tires. 🤭 the first one broke, no warranty for me. not sure what's worse, not having one, or it dying a month after the warranty expires. my little one has worked on a car tire! question...if they don't last long, why haven't you tried a different brand? even if the cost might balance out? maybe the other would give you more than $100/yr. have a great week, age! 🛴❤
Dying a month after the warranty expired was a little aggravating, lol😂 I know what to listen for and watch for this time though. I've read the reviews on similar priced ones and they seem to have their issues as well. I could fork out for the more expensive unit, but there are no guarantees with them either. I'll keep looking around while I still have this one. Who knows maybe I'll be ready to spring for something more expensive. Not today though...I just had the Jeep in the shop and I'm poor😔😔
