Mapping human settlements from space

This video presents the Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL), a concept, method and technology on mapping globally urban and rural conurbations, as well as temporary and refugee settlements. GHSL is an in-house technology of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The applications of the tool in risk management, territorial planning and urban monitoring are described in the video through testimonials offered by users of the technology.
