I think I could listen to JD for hours. Great advice and tips from a down to earth guy. I have to add, I’ve sounded atrocious on slide guitar longer than he’s been alive. 😂
He's saying a lot of things that a lotta folks need to hear- dig the humility and humanity and advice to put aside the pride regardless of where you find yourself.
Thanks for sharing! I saw Derek Trucks when he was a wee lad and at that time, he came closer than anyone to Duane's tone/sound/style /feel, whatever you want to call it, that I had ever heard. JD Simo matches that in this video for sure. I can tell he's done his homework!
Haha the part about the slide in the beginning sounds terribly familiar =p So hard to hit the right notes on a dark stage with people staring at you. Just gotta let it rip!
Does anyone know if he plays in Open E like Duane? I may have missed him mentioning it in the video because he goes on for a quite a bit in the beginning, but any answer is appreciated! Thanks
Standard - he tends to play in standard tuning ....but, saying this he could probably play in any tuning with one arm behind his back! A Killer player - I’ve seen him incorporate Stones riffs in his jams and he’s really got the ‘roll’
John Frick the only tweed amp with Reverb Fender makes is the blues junior or hot rod deluxe special runs I guess. I'd appreciate if you could find that out, thank you

Very good! Saw him twice in the UK just before this. Got him to sign a guitar for me. Such a nice guy!

Anyone know what amp he's using for this?
It was a tweed amp with reverb. I don't think it was a Fender though. I'll try to find out from the guys at Max Guitar.

It was a Victoria amp, which can be seen in the background in some places. Further details to follow.
John Frick Oooo fancy. Thanks for the details!!
