The sheephead that got away was a tank! That big gun was brand spanking new at the time and that was my first trigger pull with it. I definitely regret not getting it dialed in beforehand or at least shooting it a couple of times. Thanks for including my clips btw, I love the channel. Let me know when you’re in San Diego, I’d be more than happy to show you my spots.
Hi Ryan Thanks for the video. I don’t know if you already new but the fish zdenek shot in the clip at 4.23 is actually the Dentex Gibbosus which in a lot of places is even more rare than the elusive Dentex Dentex. Thanks again and looking forward to your next video
Thank you so much for reposting my video Ryan!! Yeah, it was a dive in Abu Dhabi, the fish was in fact an Hamour and it was one hell of a tasty fish… fish tacos for a whole lot of people hahaha!
The second aus video, looked like a queensland groper(protected) and the snapper was what we call a slatey bream which are a sweetlip rather than a snapper(not great eating). The fish he was shooting were fingermark.
Tom Humphry here, was spearing near Rottnest island - Perth Wester Australia. thanks so much for the tips I am a huge fan and supporter have started making my own diving videos on this channel and am learning lots of helpful diving and spearing tips from your videos keep up the great work!
Cheers for the advice Ryan! Funnily enough I’d been diving to the bottom for half an hour trying to get the school in but they were more interested in the flasher than me when I was on the bottom because it was unattended. I decided last dive of the day to try mid water at the flashers level and it worked and they came in. It ended up being one of the bigger in the school as well and a pb of 90cm - 8kg. Taken in Townsville, Australia if you want to come and shoot them when they school up! Thanks again
They are an awesome fish, hermaphrodites that are all female unless there is no males in the area then swap over. Green is juvenile and female, blue when they convert to males. You shoot the big male and that triggers the larger females to change which helps the population as there is then more breeding males
That's me at 10:16 I thought I left a .txt file with my info, you were right about the first being bath tub beach! Got a bunch of videos from the keys to put up when I'm home.
The South African west coast fish is commonly known as a Hottentot. Very common and good eating. Lives in shallow, cold water of 10-15C close to kelp and the viz is mostly bad.
Haha that fish Blake didn't shoot is called a painted sweetlip/mother in law fish. You might be able to guess why he didn't shoot it now. They are everywhere, and can be eaten, but not great quality at all, especially when you have trout or tuskies or other similar eating fish available :)
lol funny to watch your video and see my friend Carson's video when we got that Kingfish! that last shot was my spear for that second shot. That was like 30ft too, crazy day
First clip of the uku was down 95 feet and was the first drop of the day. I was very uncomfortable on the bottom for that drop. I was very stoked for landing that fish on the first drop because I was getting skunked for weeks.
Hammah dats y love how ryan says too much head movement but knew as soon as you got down you were looking for uku and as we all know in hawaii that they love to come from behind you
@@ShadowGarden808 yeah true but honestly I did not expect to see a fish on that dive it was super murky and the drop was way deeper then I would want to do for my first drop. I agree with Ryan my head movement was a little much, it shows how uncomfortable I was and I was rushing my bottom time and looking around super fast trying to make sure there was no fish so I can go back up.
