This is why I love the manga they make sense of things like 17s explosion. Why they thought he was dead. And his plan. Why would he kill himself when he has no real attachment to anybody besides 18 and maybe krillin. And if you say to win the tournament that stakes the universe. Wouldnt it be safer to just stay alive and make a giant ki explosion?
Yep, it made more sense in the manga, but I would rather the explosion happened in neither version to be honest. I would've preferred that he carried on fighting, rather than hiding.
Well, it was like that deceptive smirk on Mojito's face when his universe was the first to go. It made it look like the angels had an ulterior plan and the tournament was just a cover up, but nope, Mojito was just supposed to look relieved his universe lost because he didn't like them, which the manga did perfectly.
Nah the anime was better in every possible way like vegeta against God toppo and Ui vs kefla and the way Goku achieves MUI is absolute perfection that broke the internet twice.
Though it is less spectacular by far and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too short, the ToP ends in a much more in-character and intelligent note. Both Frieza and 17 made an actual plan and used Goku's dumbness in their favor, and went pretty much for a cheap shot while also leaving 17's condition secret and at no risk, which is what I would do in a literal life or death situation to save my universe. In the anime, 17 almost gets crushed by Jiren because he decided to come out and attack, and then if that happens everyone loses, so it's a much dumber idea even if it is more flashy. Also great editing.
@Belkace The explosion in the anime was pretty pointless. It made more sense in the manga, with him pretending that he was dead. The anime just had him sacrifice himself, even though Jiren wasn't supposed to try and kill them.

I gotta say. I really enjoyed the anime of DragonBall Super when I saw it last year but after reading the manga it really didn’t compare in my opinion. Everything was so much better explained and executed on the Manga. I hope Toei doesn’t pull the same crap of moving ahead of the Manga and just let it have enough material for them to just use it and not do whatever they want with the story. Everything that bothered me from the story and the lack of explanations in the anime was not present on the Manga

That is just my opinion but I prefer to see them all trying to plan things out to see how they can beat this powerful guy.
