I got my decisions for master's programs recently. I only applied to two schools and the first letter I got was a rejection from my backup school which really freaked me out. But then I got in to my dream school somehow. 😭😭😭 Sooooo excited.

  • @KaelynGraceApple

While I know many of you are still awaiting decisions, some have heard that you were not accepted to your dream school. This loss can be devastating. Putting yourself out there only to be rejected can make you question your place, whether you were good enough, worthy enough, etc. but I am here to remind you that YOU ARE WORTHY! There are so many factors that play into whether you are accepted or rejected to graduate programs and I hope this video provided some clarity which will help you along your journey as you accept other offers or weigh the possibility of re-applying next fall. Whatever the case, I am here for you! If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out ❤️ Remember, if your goal is what matters most, the time it takes to get there is obsolete.
    Xx Kaelyn

This is a great video! I luckily was accepted to my program for undergrad and PhD, but I have been rejected to many scholarships as well as some grants/fellowships which is disheartening. Such a lovely video, as ever! As someone applying to History PhDs for the first time this year while finishing my MPhil, it's really comforting to hear that timing doesn't matter. It's something I try to keep in mind. I've tried to make peace with the fact it's pretty unlikely this year, but that I'm learning from the application process. Thank you for another lovely video, Kaelyn. Also, as a side note: it's so exciting to see your channel growing so quickly! Very positive outlook love the inspirational aspect. Never give up, programs unironically love to see applicants that have grown over the years in terms of CV/publications/work experiences and ultimately appreciate that. Your likelihood of acceptance in a program you are a good fit for increases every time you apply and show progression.

I agree with everything you are saying! Thank you so much for making this video. I am also an applicant to PhD programs this year and the stats in my field (philosophy) is brutal--I see so many devoted students who take philosophy to be their passion of life getting rejected. Another thing that happens is that for PhD programs (the ones I applied to at least), the top applicants get tons of offers while others get only a few offers and waitlists, which means that the wl moves quite rapidly sometimes! Rejections can be terrible--but seriously do consider reapply in the next cycle if you KNOW this is what you wanna do for life. Again, thanks Kaelyn for this video, and hope to see you at Yale! (I am gonna go there too for my doctoral studies!)
