Being a lifetime UConn fan Hawkins is the total opposite of bouknight especially on offense I think Hawkins has a easier time adjusting to the league because even though he needs to be better a self creator and playmaker the outside shooting and movement skills translate better imo I think he improves on his weaknesses love his mentality and competitiveness
My comparison for him is buddy hield and for that reason I love the fit of him on the pacers where he can learn behind buddy for a year or two and then replace him
He already has shooting. How does Hield being his mentor help a guy that already has shooting like he does? He would just seem redundant on a Pacers squad that needs a best fit at positions 3 and 4
My favourite dude in the draft besides Bufkin. I know I'm crazy for this, but I have him as high as 6 on my big board. The ability to get open for shots and just keep moving is so important to today's NBA, and whoever drafts him is going to get a great contributor to fun, watchable basketball.
Great mechanics. Pretty much perfect shooter. May suffer in defense, does not look like more than 6-3 or 6-4 in shoes. But as a shooter he will make some money
I smell a Klay Thompson ceiling when utilized in the right team. Someone who plays defense well, shoot 3’s off screes/handoffs, doesn’t need to dribble the ball that much to have an impact to the game. Perfect fit for my rockets at pick 20 imo.
EXACTLY! 💯 I was about to type the same words. He's like a young DAY cuz he can dunk and has an Elite 3pt shot. JH will be a legend if healthy mark my words.
from what im seeing on the defensive end, albeit hightlights of it, this him is looking like a klay thompson clone. looking like he's gonna be the 10-15 pick that shoulda went top 5 down the future
His shot creation could really develop under Phil Handy if he were to somehow fall to 17 which I highly fkn doubt. Would be perfect in a Golden State, Sacramento, Miami, OKC, Denver, Portland, & ATL type of system since he’s really good w/o the ball.
@@carltonbanks5470 I was under the impression they were going to keep Josh Richardson & play Dyson Daniel’s more who they selected 8th in the draft last year. So I didn’t think he’d get a chance there. That’s why I didn’t list NOLA. Amazing pick up for them though.
@@ROB_AGT Josh Richardson was an expiring contract that just signed with Miami. Dyson Daniels will play more as a PG. The only other competition for backup guard minutes is Kira Lewis another lottery pick from 2020, who they probably will trade.

Is he anything better than Garryson Mathews? Same size, similar defence and similar self-creation issues, both great movement shooters. Great complementary guy from the bench, but not sold on him becoming a reliable starter.

I like that pick for this team. He would fit perfectly next to Dolano Banton off the bench providing spacing. This may also necessitate the need to start Gary Trent Jr and bring, likely, OG Anunoby off the bench.
@@therockneverstops8261 I dunno if Trent is back next year honestly. I dont think FVV and Trent Jr are both still here next season, and honestly reasonable chance both are gone. We need shooting so badly that Hawkins really could make sense.
He runs, cuts, and steps back like Steph Curry. He needs to take a page out of Steph Curry's book and hit the weight room to be able to take the bumps and hits of NBA players.
His shooting motion reminds me of young Stephen Curry. He looks like a tweener to me. If Hawkins was listed as a PG his draft stock would be much higher.
@@ecobean3440 All he has to do is hit his wide open shots when BI/Zion/CJ create for him and play defense. He's not an NBA point guard and he wouldn't beat out CJ McCollum or Dyson Daniels trying to be one.

Perfect clean jump shooting mechanics.
Reminds me a little of Rip Hamilton and Ray Allen… Orlando Magic needs to get this kid.
Elite movement shooter. Great video. He is a must for every team. Opens up space for any elite midrange scorers. Magic at 11 a no brainer.
