    1) When is the Oakland Zoo's female African Elephant, Donna, moving to the elephant sanctuary in Tennessee?
    2) What are the names of the 2 zebras from the Oakland Zoo that passed away so far from the past years?
    3) Which white rhinoceros at Disney's Animal Kingdom passed away this month?
    4) How many new lions would you predict the SF Zoo's male African Lion, Jasiri, to have?

    For your question prompt, I'm curious if you ever spent time when you were younger imagining what your zoo would look like if you were able to create your own, or if I was the only one who did that😅
    Even if you didn't, if you were able build your own zoo with complete creative control what are a few animals/exhibits you would include?

      Thank you!
      I think about returning to Detroit al the time, but I feel like it run its course on the channel already. If I were to visit again, I would film the amphibian house, and great apes. Other than that, the rest of the zoo is repetitive and its famous for my biggest pet peeve - exhibit species in the wrong geographical area.

    Are you going to record the Cincinnati Zoo's new exhibit when it arrives - Black Bear Ridge which is supposedly coming this year. Its where the Polar Bears use to live, I guess they are phasing them out.

    • @ZooTours
      @ZooTours  Год назад +4

      Manatee Springs was actually not supposed to be covered this year. With the delay of Bear Ridge opening later than scheduled, that means three episodes with bears would have to be released in close proximity. So its episode will be saved for early next year.

    Really interesting how this zoo has an Amur leopard featured, rather than any other of the subspecies. Persian, African or Indian would work better for a desert themed zoo but I'm glad to see how many zoos participate in the breeding program to save these cats

    What are your thoughts about zoos having free roaming animals throughout the whole park?
    Ex: Brookfield Zoo having Peacocks roam in the majority of zoo and might even appear in some exhibits.
    If you like it, is there an animal you like to see to have this kind of opportunity? Ideally, of course.

    • @ZooTours
      @ZooTours  Год назад

      I wish every single zoo had at least one species that could roam around year round. I thought it was hilarious to run into guineafowl at Brookfield in the outdoor Tropic World trail. I also really miss the peafowls walking around Cincinnati. They even bred but apparently too many guests kept harassing the offspring. Eventually they went down to just having peacocks but were also phased out.
      Idealistically I think it would be awesome to see some sort of primate free to roam about in certain areas. I think Houston did that with tamarins at one point.

    If you enjoy things like the hyenas, there are a series of live cams in Africa that cover watering holes. You can choose to watch them anytime, day or night but if you wish to only see when animals pass by, they will put out clips.
    Do a search for Africam live cameras. You will see some very cool animals!
