I’ve just finished my first mignonette bag Not quite sure if that’s how it ended next to the raffle but I finished it and I posted it on Instagram and I’m very happy with it and will be making more thank you so much for your help I love your work it’s so beautiful I just wish one day I can be as good as you and learn how to read all those old patterns have a wonderful day ❤❤❤❤
I'm so glad to hear it Tinydragon and was just feeling a bit guilty that I never got around (yet) to making a video of the ruffle edge! I got busy with the Christmas Tree series and have many video suggestions on my "to-do" list! But I'm glad you're happy with your first bag, they're quite satisfying to make aren't they? Thank you for your kind comments on my work. :-)
Thanks for showing this. I like the idea of tucking the second shuttle out of the way into your watch band. I am going to try and make one of these bags.
Hi Marcia, the beads need to be added before you start and wound onto the shuttle with the thread. The beads end up at the base of each ring as you close it. I think I will make a second video that shows this.
Hi Cyndi, I have another video on beaded mignonette which can be found here: ruclips.net/video/dd1AdqnuVFw/видео.html You have to put the bead on the thread around your hand before making the ring as you'll see in the video.
At 4:40 it seems like after the join u start tatting second half-first half (or like u just missed the second half of ur last stitch) but then at 7:40 u tat normally first half-second half, as u said u wouldn't be counting in the join. Am I seeing that first part wrong or not? :)
Well spotted Christina, I've not rewatched the whole video but I think that on those tiny rings I decided not to count the join and make three full double stitches after the join... but as you noted, it appears I forgot at some point and started with the second half after the join!
Hello Julia, mine has about 22 rounds (plus some beads for the edging) but you can make them as short or long as you want. If you email me (frivole*at*btinternet.com), I can send you the pattern.
Hi Nany, yes, you would just keep increasing for more rounds until you get to the size you require before going straight up (same number of stitches on each round).
For multiple increase rounds, I’d do the second by increasing in every other gap, then in every third, then every fourth, and so on. This keeps the base flat instead of hyperbolic.
Awesome!!! Thank you for showing us the Mignonette tatting samples. I have always wondered exactly how it is done.
I'm glad if you found it useful. :-)

Can you please do a short video on how to do the top of the ruffle I’m having trouble doing it I love your videos thank you for sharing them all
Ok, yes, I'll see if I can do that soon.
Thank you l love ❤️ your videos and thank you so much for sharing them I enjoyed watching him .

Thanks Gemini, perhaps I should add that little tip (tucking the unused shuttle away) into a separate video?
Thank you so much! I made one of these little bags many years ago but I had totally forgotten how I did it. I can't wait to try to tat another one.
That's great, thank you for your comment Donna. Did yours have beads?
Frivole yes it did have beads...I should look for it...I’m sure I still have it somewhere.
It will be nice to see another video with the beads. Thank so much for teaching 🤗
My pleasure Marcia. I shall be uploading the new video soon (I made it but still need to edit it).
Hi Marcia, the video is now done and uploaded. :-)

Muchas gracias por su comentario. Me alegro de que el video le haya resultado útil y me encantaría ver su gorro si hacéis
uno! :-)
Loved your video! You are a very good teacher. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much for your comment. :-)
Hello, that's lovely bags. Thank you for teaching and sharing your techniques. I'm looking for more tutorials on tatting. Wish you happiness always.
Thank you for your comment Noni! :-)
Thank you! Such a lovely little bag.
Thank you I will try to do it. Just a question: if you do it with the beads where do you put the beads? In the bare tread or you make a picot?
Hi Marcia, the beads need to be added before you start and wound onto the shuttle with the thread. The beads end up at the base of each ring as you close it. I think I will make a second video that shows this.
Wonderful! I used this method but much much larger, to fit my tarot cards ☺️
Must look great! What colours did you use? Would love to see a photo. :-)
Excellent! I’m definitely making one of these. So you added beads to the shuttle making the rings and add one after closing each ring?

Looking at florets edging and didn’t know what “new” means
Please help?
Sorry Chris, I don't understand your question... Florets? And where does it say "new"?

I needle tat but I’m not going to give up on learning to shuttle tat.
Hi, I'm sure they could be made with a needle too! I wish you all the best if you decide to try the shuttle. :-)
How many rounds? I can’t access the pattern I’d love to know so I can add beads!
Hello Julia, mine has about 22 rounds (plus some beads for the edging) but you can make them as short or long as you want. If you email me (frivole*at*btinternet.com), I can send you the pattern.
Hello, what brand of shuttles do you used for your Tatting?
Hi Areli, they are modified and decorated Aeros.
Thank you again. You are awesome 🤗
You're so welcome! :-)
If we want to make a larger bag, meaning the base of the bag should be larger than the base of this mignonette bag. Is it not?
Hi Nany, yes, you would just keep increasing for more rounds until you get to the size you require before going straight up (same number of stitches on each round).
But the center ring need not be enlarged then. Btw, thank you so much for taking the time to reply my question.
For multiple increase rounds, I’d do the second by increasing in every other gap, then in every third, then every fourth, and so on. This keeps the base flat instead of hyperbolic.
Beautiful bag!!!
:-) Thank you!
Your nails match the rings you're making
😊 I hadn't noticed but that colour is definitely one of my favourite and it's true that the design on my nails has similarities with what I'm tatting!
I MUST try this!!
Is there a pattern to make these bags?
Hi Cynthia, yes there is. The link is in the info box just below the video. :-)
Thank you 💟....
You're welcome 😊
