In Super Mario Bros., the 11th pipe in World 8-4 is forbidden and will be explored in a future director's cut. In general, World 8-4 is a pipe maze, and taking the wrong pipes will lead you back to the beginning.
Being able to go back in time to see your own gameplay play out but you can interfere is a legitimately cool idea.
