One of the most wonderful interviews of Dyson that I know. I am honored to call him a friend.

This man is SUCH a genius. If only people would understand how much of a genius he is.

He isn't not afraid to go against the grain. You have to give him credit for having courage to state his beliefs.

It's so refreshing to hear an interview where questions are answered immediately with "Yes" or "No" and not with some fuzzy logic canned rhetoric.

I love how Mr. Dyson can say something like 'I'm not an expert, but I think the experts are wrong.' To most people that sounds contradictory, but it's just what happens when experts are dishonest or in the grip of an ideology.

Oh my, the wisdom this man has accumulated! I wish THAT could be bottled and given IV! Both "sides" could learn a life lesson just from what he said about himself and his friend. Although they disagree, they're STILL friends. Do you know what cause that? Mutual respect. Our country is sorely lacking in respect of ANY kind.

Freeman Dyson will still be well known and revered 500 years from now, like Leibiz is today. Rose will be known as that poor interviewer that appears in some historical footage.

He has accomplished .0000000001 of what Freeman did. I used 10 decimal points because that's how accurate Freeman's proof of Feynman's QED was.

Wth is wrong with Charlie, ffs the guy is ancient, & still when a man like Dyson utters anything involving god, he just has to pick it out like some immature child that cant grasp the concepts of analogies,
And he gets to interview a man like Dyson, with a brain like that........
I don't understand this world, I'm hardly a genius, so how the hell do so many people take things he says so actually literally, seriously, I'm on a youtube spree, all I keep finding is incompetent interviewers.
1 couldn't even form his own thoughts, it was all, 'yes' & repeating back things Dyson had said, the man had to read everything constantly, he'd actually had to print out a script, which he couldn't even work a conversation around.
Am I the only 1 seeing this pattern? Because it's just upsetting me to see, what to me is, is just an unbelievable fall from great minds to, almost childlike in nature, then again, Dyson grew up in very different times
Don't get me wrong, Charlie's done some good interviews, it's bothering me that I have only encountered this pattern with Dyson, honestly, it's not turning up anywhere else

Great to hear Dyson talking about Dawkins wasting time convincing young people to be atheists. I think the same. Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss and even Peter Atkins lose their time with this ridiculous discussion. Incredible futile talk. We don't live anymore in Galileo's era.

You forgot to mention Sean Carroll who claims 'fine tuning' is the most powerful argument of the theists, he arrogantly goes on to debunk the standard mode to call FT a rubbish, as a faithful media paid, intellectual treason, implying Einstein endorsement of Spinoza's nature/god as stupid.

    • @saulorocha3755
      @saulorocha3755 8 лет назад

Yeah, absolutely. These people are arrogant to the bone. You don't have to conduct a crowd for non-believers into a church of atheism. That would be pointless and contradictory.

      Saulo Rocha
Philosopher Dan Dennet even works for institutionalized preaching of atheism, although science shows how intelligent design invites the notion of divine purpose. How spellbinding that human consciousness can take our thought outside the universe.

yes, its much better that we have an unending and uninterrupted chorus of pro-supernatural anti-intellectual religiosity. attempting to sway the tides of culture in the direction of science and reason is a TOTAL waste of time! i agree.

Environmental degradation is a much more serious problem than climate change.
People can walk from a rising ocean but can't run rom an atmosphere that is not breathable.
Iceland is enjoying global warming and so am I in northern Canada.

Charlie strikes out looking... again. Actually he wasn't as bad as he obviously as he wanted to be at the beginning, making the now non issue of GW such a big deal instead of focussing more on Dr. Dyson's accomplishments in theoretical physics and mathematics.

Master Dyson knows that the miniscule fractions of a degree we are warming cannot be caused by humanity's tiny addition to the enormous atmosphere.

Interesting theory on the origins of life. Immense respect for a scientist who can separate his theory of life from his belief in God. In my opinion, as they are both based on theory, which comes from the best known information at the time, one is just a likely as the other to be true. Again, if one can just respect hose with whom they disagree, the possibilities are unlimited.

This I should the last great scientist. Now we have pseudo scientists like Wdward Witten who have little imagination and conceptual clarity. They are just superb in manipulating numbers. It's fitting the so called greatest physicist is a renowned mathematician.

I do believe that we should look after the planet. I hate to see what we have done to the natural world esp the oceans when I see all the plastic in the ocean or forests which are homes to millions or thousands or hundreds of animals just for the sake of growing something we in the West buy; it's absolutely devastating to see. It makes me sad actually.
But the fact that they called this man a heretic really had me cracking up in laughter. Is climate change a religious dogma or a scientific theory/fact that can be debated..
Science is been highjacked and becoming something you cannot question. Like a religion.
I wonder what the Newtons and Einsteins would make of this new direction?
