OMG thank you so much! This problem was annoying me so much and I was starting to get hopeless about solving it. This fixed issues with creating global variables as well.

If you still cannot get Solidworks to recognise equations it’s most likely a different problem. Contact your IT administrator or try reinstalling your version of solidworks
