I used to dance this when I was in my teens and learned it from a Dance School..I notice here that there are more movement of the pompoms than with the swaying or shaking of hips...I hope this was presented perfectly!
Hula is a REAL CULTURAL DANCE. When people exploit a culture they know absolutely nothing about, it's like spitting upon the people who truly perpetuate it. I am not Hawaiian, but I am very humbled by those that have helped me in my Huaka'i. Whether it is the mo'o 'olelo (Hawaiian Language) and the mana'o or kaona, it is our kuleana (responsibility) to show our respect when sharing our Aloha. Please educate yourselves in the Hawaiian culture instead of insulting the culture.
Then why did you watch the video if you're only going to make bad comments? I thought the dance was great, i'm going to perform it myself. Maybe you should just stop and and do something other than pointing every thing that isn't perfect. Also these women weren't trying to insult hawaian (sorry if that is spelled wrong) culture, they were just trying to make a nice dance to some great music. Gosh!
