Who else noticed that if you edit the default attire for any wrestlers that show up in the intro movie their clothes will change in the intro accordingly! The attention to detail here is just excellent!! They just nailed it with this game!
Yup I played this in prison we got two 30min slots a day and most people wouldn't show up to there turn so I played as much as I could. I would always change the attire
They were ahead of the future, too. No wrestling game series has had the feel of these that made them so fucking great. God bless these games and god bless No Mercy modders.
this akai engine was unbelievable for its time and still has not been beaten. it's a shame how the smackdown games, excellent in presentation, graphics, music, and atmosphere; still fail in the most important aspect of all.
i guess Im randomly asking but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
This era of gaming will always be special to me. I’ll always remember this game for its amazing set of characters and the fixes they made from the game prior. I always remember the taste of Barq’s cream soda when I see this game as that’s what my friends I drank when playing this game ,ate night on the weekends with loads of 420 lol
When showcasing the various Diamond Cutters, you missed the one where you toss your opponent into the ropes and when they come running back at you, you press the analog stick and DDP will throw the opponent into the air and catch them with a Diamond Cutter when he catches them. I was always impressed that they gave DDP 3 ways to hit the cutter. Also, Nash could hit the jackknife off the ring apron to the floor and also a super jackknife off the top turnbuckle.
World Tour was good, but Revenge laid the foundation for the two greatest wrestling games of that generation in my opinion - WrestleMania 2000 and No Mercy. The amount of hours I put into all these games as a kid was mind-blowing. Man, THQ/AKI were truly marvelous at their jobs.
Me and my brother always did the 40pc Battle Royale and battled it out to see what wrestler was the last one standing! Booker T and Psychosis was my jam.
shawn 242 I still prefer lots of old character models over current/next gen stuff. Sometimes I think I'm crazy or something for thinking that, but damn it some of that older stuff just looked good!
@@shaolinotter reason being they cared then and dont anymore these days its a cash grab. Its the lets see how big a pile of crap we can make and see if theyll still buy it
Another AKI classic. Great game. Plays a little smoother than no mercy due to a slightly faster frame rate. But man… all AKI wrestling games stand the test of time. 20 plus years later I still play them.
This game truly is something special. Although I have little to no experience with WCW as I sadly never grew up with it, but only seen various clips of it, I have to say this game truly is, one of the best wrestling games ever made. The fact that the developers legit listened to the criticisms of World Tour and legit fixed every issue for Revenge truly reminds me of why I miss this era of gaming, when developers legit cared for the fans and had much more passion for games, unlike today where they focus way more on money, which sucks. The roster was absolutely stacked, the championship mode is fun, the AKI engine truly feels great here, and in general, the game definitely feels accessible to anyone, even if they never played games or even heard of WCW or wrestling in general. The game truly is what a video game should be, fun. Absolutely amazing re-review, homie, and I wish you great days ahead.😊❤️
Man, I wish I grew up with this game. I would have loved it especially at the time. We were always a PlayStation house, so I grew up on SmackDown 2, which was awesome in its own right. I played this a few years later and its one of the greatest wrestling games every created. I'd personally place it above No Mercy. Great re-review man, keep up the great work!
fizzy292 I was lucky enough to have Nintendo 64 and a PlayStation by 1997ish. I played both when it came to wrestling games, but there was just something that always kept me coming back to the AKI developed titles for the N64. Later on when the SmackDown series got to my favorite era (SYM, HCTP), I started to appreciate it a lot more than I did back in the PS1 days.
@@angelserrano9049 it’s a much brighter looking game, more of a challenge when it comes to finishing off your opponent, a score system, and unique roster that represents a time in history with WCW. Also, I’ve heard somebody say they like it more due to the cruiserweights in this game. I own No Mercy and put it above this game, but still, can’t fault anyone for saying they like this one more.
@@seejayfranklin I fault no one 😁 I was just curious to know in what way. WCW is unfinished compared to No Mercy (as a game) but if you’re looking for specific aspects like you just stated then it’s completely understandable. I personally love both equally and they both go hand in hand like a complete package for me. I personally look at revenge like an ultimate WCW expansion pack to NM even though it released first. I can’t even imagine having one without the other. They go perfect together.
When you could run into the ropes at the same area where an opponent was on the apron making them fly off into the guard rail made me laugh every time.
What I thought was even funnier was just leaning back into the opponent on the apron to make them fall. You just change your focus to another player while standing close to the ropes, press run and it makes you lean back to start your run.
It's truly disappointing that we never experienced the Nintendo 64 in my country. Missed out on a lot of cool titles like this. I'm excited about the 64 games coming to the Switch but unfortunately they won't be including any big license titles for obvious reasons.
I got WCW vs nWo World Tour in October 1999 then I got WWF WrestleMania 2000 for Christmas in 1999 and then WWF No Mercy for Christmas in 2000. I still got Revenge with my birthday $ in July 2003. I like this game but prefer WWF cuz I grew up watching SmackDown!. I'm glad to still have my this game and the rest of my N64 game collection.

It looks better than the real life version. I remember he often just dropped his opponents or barely slammed downwards, possibly in response to fear of injuring opponents and/or direction from management. Might have started after Giant was injured from one of his powerbombs.
Greatest WCW game by far. Depending on opinion, Top 5 or minimum top 10 of all time wrestling games still 20 plus years or 4 console generations later.
