Pronouncing English vowels was a frustrating thing for me but these two techniques helped me a lot. I cannot believe that we get all of these fantastic tips for free. THANKS ❤🌷
Hey Mariam :) You're welcome! I know you've put in the effort to apply these techniques to your vowel sounds and I'm delighted that they've helped you! I always enjoy reading your messages! Hope you're having a good week... Talk again soon! Michael
@@mahar7754 Thanks again.I came back to university to finish my degree here in Málaga after living years abroad ("Filología Inglesa"in Spanish system...)Your help is great for me, thanks thanks🪻💜
I learned about pronunciation very well, my problem is speaking fluently...when I'm speaking in front of people I don't get words, I feels shy...I can write good English, I can pronunce correctly, the problem is fluency
Very difficult question for you! Everyone knows the rule of pronouncing the final 's' at the end of a word as /s/ and /z/ after voiceless consonants and voiced consonants, respectively. But my question is, how do you pronounce the final 's'-whether /s/ or /z/-if it occurs after a vowel sound, like in 'Photos,' 'Auto,' and 'Buffalo' in a British accent? Secondly, how do you pronounce the final 's' if it occurs after an 'r' sound in British English, /s/ or /z/? Examples include words like 'supporters,' 'teachers,' 'Dollars,' 'Papers,' 'Cars,' 'Guitars,' 'Computers,' 'Actors,' 'Doctors,' 'Ladders,' 'Hammers,' 'Mirrors,' and 'Tiger,' among others. Please, help me.
Hi Nac, I'm still here my friend! I've been focusing on my pronunciation course at the moment and also taking some time off which is why I haven't been posting to RUclips... But I'll be back! How are you doing? Michael
I have a malocclusion (an overbite), and, interestingly, I've found that I need fewer fingers to reproduce these sounds. For instance, when I make the /e/ sound as in ‘set,’ it sounds accurate, but I can only fit one finger between my teeth, not the 1.5 as your guide suggests. This is true for all vowels - I typically need 0.5 finger less than what’s recommended. Could malocclusion be affecting the number of fingers one should be able to fit?
Hi Michael I was using this sound in my speech unconsciously which is / ʉ / sound and I got to know that In contemporary or modern RP this sound is used. I've checked its pronunciation in Cambridge dictionary and heard many people speaking as well and it sounds really different from long /u: / sound In words like boot and dude which is different from cool and tool in pronunciation. I think it's in close central vowel sound Could you tell me about it something?
Thanks Montserrat - I'm pleased it's helped you! You can apply these techniques to any English accent you wish learn. My English is a fairly relaxed 'modern rp' - compared to strict RP there are a couple of sounds I relax in certain scenarios. Hope this helps!
Is this RP accent? Or some other british accent? I've watched your few videos and you haven't mentioned that if you are teaching rp or something else so I want to confirm as I want to learn rp.
