Just bought one from centerfire systems' website for less than $500. I won't ever be able to afford the 73, but owning this one is the next best thing. Cant wait to get it. It does resemble a GP100, which is a sturdy, well-built revolver in itself.
Got one of those from police supplies almost never used and freaking love it I got the 38 special version I also used to shoot with the glock but love this bulky style and the power of the 38 compared to the 9mm just feels good Nice presentation and review by the way 😊 Stay safe during those hard times 👍🏻👍🏻
It’s neat to think we have an actual French government handgun in the collection. As a younger person, I would never have dreamed stuff like this would be possible. At least for me. Sincerely, Marky
@@John1911 and all thanks to that Wonderful 2nd amendment from your constitution man really wish we could have something like that in my country and Even more be able to get surplus Police and military issued guns. Saludos!
Hello, I have a Manhurin mr73, and I also wanted to take a model Mr88, I wanted to ask if the cylinder is long enough to be able to shoot bullets 180 grains, thanks
They are called Traush grips very hard to find. The maker of grip, Jaques Traucsh passed away in 2012. No longer available unless you get lucky on line. Great grips
You will enjoy it. Seems like a very durable revolver. And the value will go up since it’s police surplus. Are revolvers difficult to acquire for French Citizens? Regards, Marky
@@John1911 there is no short answer for that question, Guns in France are divided in 3 categories: A B and C A are basically all automatic weapons civilians cant own those except very few situations like inherited war trophies B are all semi automatic, this goes from ar 15 to a 6 shot .22lr handgun and C are single shot rifle, double barrel and Bolt action. There are other criterias but I want to keep this comment short. C are easy to get you just need a sport licence or hunting licence. B are harder, you need a sport licence from a local shooting club, you need to have 6 month experience and only then you can create your demand to the representent of the state, you need load of documentation and it take a couple month to get an answer (which can be a no for no other reason than the representent not wanting) If it a yes you receive your paper and can buy the type of gun you asked for. You then need to redo this process if you want to buy another gun or everyday 5 year for those you own. I just got mine back and now I have 6 month to buy 3 B1 weapons, b1 are handguns like this manurhin. Hope this wasnt too long!
@@John1911 Well it isnt seen as horrendous here, guns are really not part of our culture except for the hunter, the hunting association is really big but thats it. Its just a different point of view.

Alec VI le Bon we have a few French weapons in the armory. On the whole they seem well made and we enjoy shooting and having them. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless. Sincerely, Marky
The RMR had parts made by Ruger, but the MR88 is 100% made by Manurhin/Chapuis/Beretta. RMR: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMR_(revolver) France has plenty of MR88 for sale, new and used in perfect conditions (and in .357 Magnum) at a great price, so we sent the old worn out ones (in 38 Special) to the US ;)
Frenchie' on the range!

Those are Police surplus sold at around 300 euro at gunstore. Usually in good condition , scratches from being carried around in an exposed holster.
Yes, these came into the US as surplus as well. Probably a hair cheaper than your quoted price at the time.

Ruger speed six french made. It has screws on the side plate unlike Ruger revolvers. Very well made. That grip is very sought after in America.
I have heard most of that before. I know there is some kind of relationship between Ruger and Manurhin here.
Glad you liked the video.

.38 is actually weaker ;-;
I have a question: Does the Manurhin MR88 have a transfer bar safety?
It's in The Armory today so not handy. But I am almost certain it does. Hope this helps. -Marky

Yes, it has one.

Dunno. We don’t have a Gp100 to test against. -Marky

Can you tell me where in the word I can find just the grips? I been searching for hours now on line.
Jonathan Kelly numrich or Apex. If not those, try EBay. Someone in Europe might have a pair.

I think Manurhin either went out of business or changed hands. Have you considered contacting them directly in France?
