I'm glad I live in a state that gets it that kids need to eat. All kids and for free.

Do food is so bad. I understand parents are happy but as a student you hate the food.

As a parent of an lausd kid, thank you so much for this spotlight and to all those on camera and off! It’s a lovely service and a luxury to not have to worry about prepping a meal for my kid. Like other kids, I don’t exactly know how much / what he consumes but I appreciate it.

Hello sir, letting you know it's not any good for us to eat this food. I seems nice but once eating it you will dump it right away.

Hats Off to feeding kids for free, something clearly every state should do, it can’t cost that much, and the impact on kids health, and education should make it a no brainer.

@@ThorpenAlnyr, Hungry kids don’t learn, so we lose the value of the education we all are paying for, healthy well educated kids grow to be healthy adults, that is the future of America.

The school food is so bad. You guys are like bots who are easily tricked by what you see thinking what we eat is healthy? What a joke

I know poverty is heartbreaking, but there is nothing like their own home for young children to sit around family table with families of their own. When they have grown up, that is fine, but there is more value to a child with family dining than just filling their stomach. Importantly, there is a question of safety with mass feeding. You must know that there are always sinister minds in our society, State, Gov and outsiders. You cannot be too careful enough with a child.

IMO there shouldn't be a choice of either a fruit or vegetable - both of those should be part of the 3 choices. As a grown woman, I'm constantly shocked by the amount of adults I meet that don't eat vegetables or fruit. Those are the nutrients that your body needs long term. (Also, I think offering free lunch is great because of food deficiencies in a lot of homes nowadays)

I challenge Los Angeles School District Leadership to actually eat what the kids are served everyday. Start checking the elementary school foods. Most days the food is horrible. It's crap! This video DOES NOT CLEARLY SHOW YOU WHAT IS ACTUALLY SERVED at the elementary school level! Also, there are so much wasteful (excess) food thrown away each day = loss of money. Keep in mind, I do appreciate they provide food for the children at no cost.

not a lot of food close shots huh? :P
Probably for the best considering United State's school lunches are below average in comparison to the rest of the world

You have absolutely no knowledge that that's true. Where else in the rest of the world do kids get free breakfast, lunch and dinner at school. Where?

As a chef in a catering firm we would often try to cook for free at elementary schools, But in the end we just had to give our own kids lunch boxes to take to school. California is a billion dollar state but kids eat like shit.

the kids choose what they want to eat by voting - what do you think about adults voting in that same way ?

    • @louiearmstrong

What are you even saying? "I tried to cook for schools but didn't, and still had to make bag lunches for my own kids" is a terrible attitude. Free meals at school, for everyone, improves performance and focus and student retention, even if it is garbage food
