Is it weird that I always like the rehearsal footage better than the real show footage? For every show, not just this one.

That's because rehearsal footage is completely geared to the experience of you, the home viewer. Filmed performance (whether stolen by bootleggers or made by creators) records a live show whose every aspect - lighting, sound, camera angles, costumes, choreo, the size and direction of the performance - has been geared toward the experience of the live audience.

There was just something more dramatic and exciting about the rehearsal version, than the official broadway one. The rehearsal seemed more like the whirlwind, messy young love you'd expect, while the official one seems less fun and more tamed. It's still great tho, so I'm not entirely disappointed :D

Just trying to make sure no one gets hurt, I’m sure. You can get away with it once in a rehearsal studio… but on a raked stage out on the road, night after night, folks can’t end up with broken bones. :)
