Perfect song for a perfect KDrama. With a wonderful cast that did so well in a quirky series that delivered. And what can be said about KYJ and her character. A perfect match. This actress is captivating in every scene. One of my favourite characters in any KDrama. She is so unique as an actress and has most expressive face. Her eyes and smile are mesmerising. The clip taken from ep2 at 2.21 shows how in a minor scene KYJ using her face alone portrays she is falling for him in 3 seconds
This kdrama is what we really need in this time of pandemic. I love how the director and writers developed the story. Here is a list of the things I love about Backstreet Rookie : 1. The leading actor did not fall in love instantly with the leading actress (diverging from a typical plotline) 2. The story did not focus on themes like revenge, trickery, violence, extramarital affairs (sensationalized), and betrayal. Instead, it focused on values such as family devotion, honesty, and loyalty, and willingness to sacrifice everything for people who matters most. 3. The most interesting feature of the story (in my opinion) is its lightheartedness. During these days, we all need to feel that we are on the winning side most of the time and that is what the writers gave to us by giving the story 65% sweet moments, 15% troubled times, and 20% laughter moments. Not to mention, the antagonists are not that evil-minded. Hence, it created a sweet and smooth ride up to the last episode. I hope there will be season 2 or maybe a drama that resembles this one. P.S. they also chose the best actors and actresses for this one. I look forward to watching more kdramas with Kim yoo Jung as the leading actress.
