yeah the open space really make games alive and broke stalemates, because it get really boring and old to play the same fucking positions on the same maps because if you try anything else 8/10 times you end up getting send to the garage instantly, alot of maps have open space that's just unplayable and then 2 corridors you're forced to go to.
Old Kharkiv didn't have enough TD campgrounds with loads of bushes (that end up being useless as no one pushes into them), and too much of it was arty safe. Can't have that.
@MegaJani Haha seen many deaths from arty going in shotgun mode on that map. If I remember correctly there was a good position for it somewhere close to the base
2:30 Fiery Salient is actually the original Prokhorovka design Before any of the changes in the corridor map meta, pre 2017 game design, the most openest of open maps that you could get :)
You are so so wrong about Sacred Valley. Heavy side was fun with multiple angles and flanks, mid was playable, south was playable. And ofcourse I abused climbs sometimes but the map itself was also fine.
W.G. need do a competition for modders to design maps. I'd suggest the following changes: Add Hidden Village but add an extra corridor in S.W. and flesh out 'urban area. Big' Kiev add (w new name), Minsc (with some nerf of the South side), Mittengard was fun every now and then but I would make it a climb up to the city not a drive down, Add Port but again nerf the south, Sacred Valley (remove climb spot and rebalance snipe spots, but hey, I liked the map), Stalingrad I liked, Windstorm (again I liked).
if i had to mention a peak period of world of tanks it would be right before the addtion of tier 9,10 light tanks and arty rebalance so, pre update 9.18
i agree to daki in every rating here. only thing, those variants of prok, ensk etc. like they were too much, because of those variants, together with encounter and assault we were only playing those maps. they should never come back as a separate map but i wouldn't mind them as a variant, for example you get ruinberg but the weather is randomly selected etc.
Just put them in and split the chances between the variant and original 50/50 it’s not like the chances of each map occurring is currently equal anyway.
one of my memory from secred valley was doing a 6/6 lowest roll magazine into a 40wn8 Löwe player with an (old tier 9) Lorr 40t (yes, 1600 average damage from 6 shots, all 6 did the lowest possible (225), which was 1350 in total), then he turned around, spanshotted me, had a near max roll and set me on fire.
Nice vid. I'd love too see the winter versions of Mali and proko in randoms, I don't know why we don't have them yet since they have them for the snowball event
I wish WG would add all removed maps back to the game for every anniversary either in just random queue or an OG mode or option we can enable or disable if we wanna play in them. they might be unbalanced as shit but at least they were way more fun
Severogorsk was pretty playable in both mid and right side. Left side was a choke point where u get fcked. But i would love all these maps added back in like recon mission so we could remember them and enjoy the nostalgia
Actually, Gameplay wise, Northwest was not the best option for medium, or low camo TD's; For "nostaligia" purpsose I would like this map back along with Hidden Village and Swamp. These maps existed when the Game was at it's peak 2014-2018, so they bring back great memories.
I love how stealth tds were nearly useless in reworked minsk. You had one place to play near the base and usualy you lost the game and at the end got to do some damage or you won the game and never had a chance to shoot at anything or you were too agressive and mediums and lighs farmed you.
You could still play the "medium" flank from both sides? Getting blasted from those damn bushes made me so mad sometimes :D That's where I got the idea to start playing sniper TD's up close and personal :D
Will you rank all the maps we've had available for testing through Recon Mode that have not actually made it into the game itself? Like Foothills, Aquila, Anykievka, and all the ones I don't remember the names of.
Windstorm and Swamp were "nice" out of nostalgic reasons since they were in the main pool and so many older players have played so many battles on them, especially around tier 5-7
Old Kharkov was so enjoyable, because you had so many glanking opportunities and so many ways to "recover" a fallen flank! It was simply amazing! 😍 But the reworked version was great to do some Bouncing or TD missions, too 😅 I personally would love to see both versions back in the game 🤔 Same hoes for prhokhorovka in flames (i guess the internal name was "fiery salient") - i mean it looked cool and it is prokhorovka after all (one of my favourite maps)! 😊 Hidden Village was nice too, as you said, with some slight rework it would be great! Stalingrad was a cool map as well - in general we need more city maps in the "roman style / chessboard-style" (look at the top down view on cologne for example)... You could do one or two big buildings as highlight and the build many houses (maybe even with yards) around them so that you have multiple ways to go, similar as on kharkhov! If you want to put this to an extreme, you build it on 2 or three assymmetrical height levels, which you can reach/switch via bridges, tunnela and ramps! 👌
I miss the peak climbing times with THE goat and the competitions where you needed to do like 10 clumbs on mountain pass in a row in the shortest time possible.
EW maps Komarin and Northwest : as a casual player who doesn't care about balance I had a lot of fun on those maps. The only map I couldn't remember was Windstorm, I had to look at a replay.
Windfever wasn't good map, but I feel like there was still more positions to play than on most of the nowadays maps tbh. And I think that gameplay inside city when you made it through the river was fine, you had a few streets to choose instead of one corridor.
I really want Kharkov and sacred valley back. That was the peak of wot. You actually had a choice in where you want to go instead of being tunneled into the same 2 corridors over and over. As for the war situation, just reuse the layout but obviously change the name and the overall look.
I have to disagree about climbs being unbalanced. It would take so much effort and so long to get there that your team would be down 1 or more tanks for most of the match, and most had zero view of the cap circle, and could be easily balanced by having an indestructable building or a big rock between the climb and cap. It would kinda be like saying that fighting from the hills on Mountain pass is unbalanced, because you get better angles to shoot from.
Your missing some maps the alpha and early beta server had 1-2 that were up for a few weeks i recall. I really wish I took pictures of them I remember one that was up for 3 days only before being removed. It was a really open map like a big forrest with a few rivers that created the choke points to get through. Re Komarin it was heavy tanks that could destroy the tank traps and tier 10's at least i recall clan wars mediums could as well at some point. I loved Komarin and many of the removed maps as they required some team co-ordination esp when there were choke points. Now ppl just play solo as WOT early days you needed to coloborate as there was no physics too.
I really wish wargaming would add some of the maps from console. There was a fantastic map they added for the centenial anniversary of the end of WWI, it had thick forests with massive rock structures to fight around, and loads of hull downs in shell craters. There was also a great map that was basically 2 hills with a road between that was really safe to travel, even though youd get spotted going down it, really interesting. There was also a dogshit one where it was all 1 ridgeline with a small town in the south west but they cant all be good
Solution to the map-problem: Allow the community to create maps and submit them, then put them up on test server and let the community decide which maps should be added. WG doesn’t have to do anything and the community can decide what’s the most fun for it to play. Other games do that for years now..
I liked most of the old maps, even the unbalanced ones, and certainly have many happy memories of maps you seem to hate. Back then there was not such a wide range of tank abilities, so lack of balance was achieved more through the maps. Now you can drive an Bourrasque and fight a Crusader - how unbalanced is that?!
I don’t care about “bad” maps - just need more maps - I’m tired playing the same maps - and, since the random events got introduced - I have the feeling I’m playing the same 5 - 6 maps over and over again

I played Arty on old Kharkov. I liked it, because i had a lot to say there (unless i was stupid in my positioning). What you couldn't do there as Arty is punish those that sidescrape (aka do something skillbased, that is punished by very minor mistakes enough already) and those that kept moving/pushing. You had easy acces to most camping-spots, and you could land a lot of shots on many "I sit Hull-Down with my OP Turret and nothing except some Gold can hurt me"-Positions. So if you felt like Arty did nothing there, either you played agaisnt bad Arty that didn't know when/how to change position for angles without getting spotted and shot at, or you played it right. And that's how imo a city-map should be, Arty is there mainly as a skill-based defense (and to shotgun with AP/HEAT from an unexpected angle, which was very possible and very fun on that map), not to punish the defenders.
What i DONT GET about the reworked Minsk map: Look how many yards of the city are inaccessable (greyed out on the mini map)! Why WG didnt opened them??? So many more flanking and defense possibilities! Same gues foe the actual Ruinberg and Himmelsdorf: JUST. OPEN. THE. FUCKING. YARDS!!!

We need more maps since 2018. I'm sick of playing the same map but different mode over and over and over.... Losing a map in a game for a war if dumb. I understand why, but it's still dumb.
Swamp nort was so much better. You could rush castle and farm the south spawn still trying to drive up. Also there was a cross fire from the side of the hill. Horrible balance, but kind of fun still.
I was a console player we had many of these maps longer than you guys. Dragon Ridge was horrible but more fun than corridors. Hidden Village city was bad but some of the fights in south were fun. Would be fixed if they added more south or if they improved the map toward city. The weird island in the mid map was one of the worst maps ever. Northwest was just horrible only the bottom right corner rarely had fun fights. Port was kind of fun but horrible balancing it was always steamrolls but that wasn't the norm back then. Fights in the top left were fun and arty was hell, the bridge fights were silly. Sacred Valley should stay dead. Severgorsk was horrid unless you were playing a waffle. South Coast north was great because you never lost. Swamp no. Windstorm no.
Kind of nostalgia plays role here, from old maps Stalingrad was better than Paris or Berlin, but map was kind of ugly. I remember Severogorsk as Tundra with a snow - two corridors at sides and unplayable middle. Arctic region matches this definition somewhat. I didnt like Hidden Valley cause it was Lakeville-like corridor for heavies bombed by arty, two balconies snipping village, hulldown meds snipping village, village had completely random outcome and it had feeling of point of no return and meat grinder. Then I never liked to Windstorm to put it mildly as I never found a way how to play it with medium. I somehow liked Swamp and South Coast, but don't ask me why. Dragon ridge was best looking map and my only memories include playing pz38nA against IS3s and team battles. It was removed like month after I started playing WoT so likely in March 2013 and few months later it was removed from team battles.
The first time WG ever had a Halloween themed event was on Kharkov, the original version of Kharkov. And it was the first time as well that we had usable tanks with two turrets. Franken and Stein, were names used for the tanks we used. Both of them French heavies I believe. Mittengard, while supposed to be a low low tier map, occasionally had moments where it wasn't. I saw tier 6 on it a couple of times, and a very rare very random tier 10 on Mittengard. Which was absolute chaos. It was fun because it was so simple and so small. Smaller than even Ensk. Daki, how is it unbalanced just because you could spot everyone in the beginning, that's the most balanced. Nonononono, Windstorm was a great map. That one definitely has a lot of nostalgia to it.
Swamp even if it was unbalanced I enjoyed it. Kharkov old version I would also like back. Stalingrad I enjoyed, I also want it back Minsk new version I also miss
I miss when we actually had maps that weren’t just 3 corridors for hull down only fights

I really miss the last Minsk mal tbh
You remember Dragon Ridge quite wrong (though it was a bad map).
I find it weird that they removed the maps because of the war. This game is about war. I mean, we have Berlin. Not exactly casualty free place
My conclusion: Apparently I enjoyed playing shit maps
Man I miss severgorsk and swamp
Can you make a video with Udes 15/16?
so they removed kharkov was becouse the map was actually thought out and good gj wg
A lot of maps were starting North South but ended up West East... 😂
That one definitely has a lot of nostalgia to it.
show non-three corridors map: amazing
show another non-three corridors map: TERRIBLE
Sacred valley was goated idc (also after they patched the climb the map was much better)
Just bring them all back. WG has done a garbage job of just bringing out so many tanks and almost no maps.
but to be honest what did we expect ? deocarting a christmas tree is too hard for your average BOB and wargaming had to simply it KEKW .
Swamp even if it was unbalanced I enjoyed it.
Kharkov old version I would also like back.
Stalingrad I enjoyed, I also want it back
Minsk new version I also miss
Like to see a map created from you and Skilll
Where is the original magical forest
Damm daki, why so many ads in this video, literaly every 3 mins
