I'm real glad I found your channel bro, I own what is probably the highest mileage Evo X in Australia, if not the world (almost 300,000km), and guess what? The AYC pump has died. It would also probably benefit from the SST doing a re-teach, (it's still on stock, original clutches) and lo and behold, you've covered that as well! I'm picking up the car from its engine rebuild on Friday 20 Nov 2020, so I've got a week to watch the whole content of your channel. Keep up the good work mate.
Cheers mate glad its helped and sounds like a nice project cant beleive stevo was so knackared when i got him after just 52k miles watch it from the start and see how far its come
@@rowanlewisuk I intend to mate. Also, it's nice to hear a Welsh accent- my dad's from Wrexham, I grew up in Edinburgh and I used to do a bit of mountaineering around Snowdon and Trefan. Some fantastic driving roads in Wales!
Solid video, only thing I'd mention is that the bolts are also an access point for water, especially now that the housing has been ground away. Putting silicon where they enter the housing might help as well, after the bolts have been installed.
Useful video, thanks. I have a Legnum VR4 with the AYC red light now on - I can only imagine the horror the state of the pump is going to be in judging by how bad the bracket is!
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Alaric Finn thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
If you're doing this ever again and don't have any time pressure heat the body of the pump up then spray those bolts with wurth rost off and let it cool. As it cools it will draw the rost off in which breaks down the rust. Do it a few times and by the end the bolts will just about undo themselves for you. Takes some patience but looked like the alternative did anyway. Also the "ring thing" at about 20 mins is a thrust washer.
mine had gone again just slightly over 12mths re-ferbed by harry hockly! motor brushes i hope? my motor is almost twice the size as yours maybe an up graded one? thinking on plasti diping it would protect it better. and cheaper than relocating it.
Painted it. He has high hopes.. Anyways looks nice and good job. I did one last year. If you want a car that just works great get a Toyota but if want to be more connected with costly repair's ---get a EVO--- Keep up the great work
Hi Mate I have ayc light only had the car for 2 months.i checked the tyre pressures and their customers k. Is it easy to do the rebuilt also do you offer any service. Thanks
Hey man, hope you remember me from the Clio days. I remember offering some advice. Ive now moved from the Clio to a Evo IX and if you ever want to do a collaboration and do something with both Evo's then let me know!
When you consider that the Evo X is the most recent, that AYC pump was terrible looking inside. Makes you wonder if it's the UK weather & the salt that is put on our roads in winter that ruins these pumps.
@@rowanlewisuk I didn't realise the mileage was so low, that's not even enough mileage for a timing belt change, yet the pump has had it already. Not good.
@@Zerofightervi not good. Its had a timing chain since you mentioned it under warranty at 20k miles. It needs another. The box issues too. All at 50k. Evo life eh?
@@rowanlewisuk The timing belt on my old IV was surprisingly cheap, once I'd had the diff replaced, cracked exhaust valve replaced, new head gasket because why not at the point, suspension bushes done, new HKS silent hi-power exhaust system, driveshaft pulley, once all these were done...... it was actually a very reliable car. The best way to view an Evo is a highly strung race horse, it'll take some looking after but it's worth it for those foot down moments.
@@kris8742 I live in Australia too, thank gawd. In the UK they chuck salt all over the roads to prevent icing and the cars over there corrode like anything because of that. I'm hoping that my AYC pump will be easy to disassemble- cos it's failed!

Thanks for the comment. I thought the same so sealed them up with silicone

@Alaric Finn It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
Very good job. Now to the next video to see how it works🙏
Finally some one make video for that AYC aCD LOOKING TO DO MIN AGAIN

that garage is amazing, looks like a professional built that. well done
Thanks it comes in handy 😊
I would apply raptor liner bedliner. Place it in the trunk afterwards. Will not corode anymore again. Permanent fix.

Great video! My Galant VR4 needs a refurb on the AYC pump. I gather the instructions are basically the same?
Yes pretty much same process glad it helped
Great video, thanks for posting this.
Hi
Mate I have ayc light only had the car for 2 months.i checked the tyre pressures and their customers k.
Is it easy to do the rebuilt also do you offer any service.
Thanks
My ayc light has come ,do you offer refurb service.
Thanks
QUICK TIP: use silicone based grease on O rings so that it doesnt affect the rubber
20:10 "wave washer" is what its called

@@rowanlewisuk yeah that's me! ill message you over instagram later! Just got my exhaust Friday so working on a video for that!
AYC and ACD the same pump essentially? My ACD pump needs to get rebuilt on my 09 RA and was wondering if this would be the same.
It's pretty much the same thing just the ralliart pump has two less solenoids I think.
Lol I sold m x mr with the AYC pump failure now i feel bad for that guy who bought it
Nice drill
Thanks it was free
A very informative video :D
Mine needs doing probably go wrong for me
Take your time it be fine

If I had to do mine I think I would soak it for a long time in a mixture of transmission fluid and acetone.
It was in a bucket of Wd40 for about a month being sprayed twice a day. It didn't helo much lol

Why didn’t you just heat the bolts gently? Would have saved you a lot of time
80%? 💯 % better mate
