I just got my first meshtastic device and figured out about the serial out. Lots of untapped potential there. Pretty sure you can use the raw serial to a rs232 connection to the computer, and add the serial port as a serial port in bpq32 and have LoRa be part of your Packet radio node. Which is the next rabbit hole on my project list.
