CREATOR'S NOTE: Wait, wait, there's been a misunderstanding! Several commenters have criticized that this film endorses common lesbian stereotypes, which was never my intention. I've responded to a few of these criticisms in the comments, but I wanted to clarify my message here too. There is no "right" way to be a lesbian (or a bi/pan/queer woman for that matter), and at the end of the day stereotypes don't mean anything at all. Chrissy is a lesbian who's just coming out, so she tries out all these stereotypes because stereotypes are all she really knows about being gay. As a queer woman, I went through much the same process as Chrissy does when I was first discovering myself; I overshot it with the short hair and the flannels and the rainbows because I thought that was the "proper" way to be openly queer. Over time, though, I realized that you can just be you - however butch or femme that happens to be - and still be an 110 percent valid queer woman. I hoped to represent that idea with Chrissy's love interest Lola, a super feminine girl who you'd never guess was gay at first glance but who is totally comfortable with her sexuality. Lola shows Chrissy that it doesn't matter how a lesbian presents herself. If you're a girl who likes girls, you're already part of the club. And it's a pretty awesome club. Just saying.

Just because you're a lesbian, or bi, doesn't mean you need to wear, do, and/or be all of the lesbian stereotypes. You can like girls and not like wearing flannel. You can like girls and still be feminine. Wear and do what makes you happy.
Oh I totally agree! I tried to imply that all Chrissy really knows about being gay is the stereotypes, so she tries to conform to them and overshoots a bit. But super femme Lola demonstrates that the stereotypes are just that - stereotypes - and you don't have to buy into them to exist as a queer lady. Thanks for the comment! :)

Yeah this is so true I like makeup and nice clothes (exept dresses) but that doesn't make me any less lesbian.In fact I first realized I was lesbian when I noticed how guys didn't seem as stylish as girls and that I really don't like the idea of being with dudes cause I thought they're muscles looked unattractive and I hate beards. I mean girls are just so cute and I really enjoy that about them.

The maker of the video explained in other comments that part of the reason she put Lola in the video was to show that the stereotypes don't matter and that you can be super gay and super feminine at the same time and you'll still be valid, no matter what.

It's not really saying that it's just when you first wanna come out you think fitting stereotypes will be easier. We all know coming out is really hard especially when you have to come out to the school so she probably thought if she fit the stereotype she would save time. I'm a bisexual woman so no. The message I intended to relay is that Chrissy is overshooting it with the stereotypes because that's really all she knows about being a queer lady. But in the end (as shown by Lola, a very feminine girl who doesn't fit any of the stereotypes), stereotypes don't really matter at all. You can present yourself however you want; it doesn't invalidate your existence as a woman who loves women. :)
