Someone's response to my comment below brought me back to this video, and watching it again, I must say that I agree with the man at 4:02. I think the world's perception of the U.S. is changing, negatively for the most part, and I fear our country is on the decline. There's a lot of in-fighting, increasing gap between the super rich and the poor. However, I still do think the U.S. has great things to offer to its people and the world. We just need to stop fighting with ourselves and learn how to unite as a country.
I reside north of Milan half the year. The other half state side. Most Italian is I know would never speak lika this. Food quality yes of course. Americas food and pharmaceutical chemical problem is demonic, and the way people dress in America is pathetic. Lotta yoga pants, sweat pants. Nobody cares to look halfway decent when they walk out of their homes. However, most Italians, I know prefer Trump knows that he can it has before cleaned up a lot of corruption. I think the majority of Italians don’t know what’s going on in America politics enough to share the media in Europe isn’t talk about big Mike and Obama was $73 million. All of the disgusting J Lo, JZP Diddy crap of course I don’t think Italians listen to those demonic chance but I do need to say that America and their pride eventually be their demise Jesus Christ hates pride.
I know America quite well, I worked with them for years. I have absolutely nothing against people, I have always met nice, pleasant and down to earth people. America was the dream and salvation for millions of emigrants from southern Italy, the land of opportunity for people who after the Unification of Italy were in miserable conditions. We are grateful to America for having freed us from a dictatorial regime. That said, what I don't like about America: 1) The violence in the streets of the cities and the weapons you possess and then occasionally use to kill each other. 2) The lack of a free National Health System for all. 3) Your ignorance of the world around you, of cultures like ours that have been on this Planet for millennia. 4) Your arrogance in expecting others to live according to your standards 5) The even violent interference in the internal affairs of foreign countries (and we Italians have known something about it since the end of WW2, but we can't talk about this). 6) The claim to "export democracy" and the resulting wars, practically from 1945 to today you have always been at war with someone. Finally 7) Americans can be very friendly with you but they will never be your friends, their interest comes first. As for food, everyone is free to eat what they like, but everyone has the duty to respect the cultures and food of others and not falsify it like the "Parmesan"
I’ve travelled to many places in the USA and I really liked it - the people were friendly, it’s a very varied and beautiful country, and each region is different from another. I would say that fast food, junk food, terrible eating habits are more prevalent in Canada than the USA, and Canadians are not as friendly as USA.
Unfortunate about how they see USA. So much more amazing things to offer then what they hear in the news. Hopefully they visit and try the wonderful food around the country and experience our world-renowned state parks. Along with the best place on earth, Hawaii. ✌🏽
i think most of this prejudice comes from the fact that in the US there is by far way more fast food chains and also because the food is more processed than in Europe, where the regulation on food production is 100 times more strict
I'm Italian I visited several American cities . I visited 3 times New York😂, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago, I had a great time in the United States and I ate really well, many beautiful places, bars and restaurants So many beautiful museums beautiful buildings and great architecture. The majority of the people were very welcoming, kind and nice . I had a great experience in your country. I would like to return to visit other cities in the future such as Boston, St. Louis and Washington.

Is it just me or am I the only one that finds it kind of ironic that Italians like to hate on America yet it was America more than anyone else in the world that helped to promote Italian culture to the world with a good example being food such as the creation of the American versions of things such as New York style pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, etc which was actually largely unknown outside of Italy before America promoted it to the world especially since it is 1 of the only things keeping them relevant in today's world since they have pretty much been irrelevant since the fall of the Roman empire as well as the fact that they have been only united since the 1800's after the fall of Rome the truth is promoting Italian culture, so for them to hate on Americans in all honesty sounds ungrateful to me.
I think the stereotype of Americans eating fast food persists because of global fast food chains like McDonald's, Burger King and KFC. What they actually tell about American culture is that Americans are entrepreneurial and that the US has a well developed capitalist ecosystem. I am an American and I eat fast food probably no more than once a year. What Italians who think that Americans are fast food loving people fail to realize is that American "fast food" is not much different than the Italian coffee culture where Italians drink coffee at the bar (al banco) and eat sweets like cake or cookies on-the-go in 5-10 minutes during a lunch break.
Right. The U.S. is about the size of entire Europe. The cultural differences between a rural town Mississippi and an urban city in Illinois, like Chicago, is so great that perhaps the only similarity between the two is the shared language (but different dialects) and federal laws. In fact, Chicago is probably more similar to Frankfurt, Germany than it is to Water Valley, Mississippi. It's an over-simplication to say America is this or that without specifying what part of America, just like it's inaccurate to say all Europeans love to paella (Spanish) or stamppot (dutch).

Even if Americans consume the most amount of fast food per capita (I haven't looked this up so I am not sure if this is actually true), that's about American fast food. The point I am making is that there are other forms of fast food. Pretty much every country has its own version of fast food. The difference here is that Americans have figured out a way to efficiently mass produce it with consistency and effectively market it to the entire world.
Not true. Italians usually drink a coffee and that's all for breakfast... Your breakfast is composed by eggs, bacon, sausages, butter. I eat two cookies in the morning and drink a small coffee without sugar. The very fat people are mostly in USA and not in Italy or in France: this a fact. If you eat fast food once a year, you are out of the statistics. Good for you. Anyway it's not the "fast food" itself the cause of obesity, but the quantity of animal fat and simple sugars (especially in the soft drinks); and I would add the alcohol you drink at any occasion (beer, wine, wiskey, vodka), which is rare here (aside from Veneto region).

I suppose it's a necessary part of mass producing so much food. Perhaps the biggest difference is that Italians, for the most part, seem to know how to enjoy a good meal with friends and family whereas for Americans (again, generally speaking), it's more of a passive activity.
It surprises me how little all these countries actually know about America or Americans. I think its funny sometimes how foreigners say we should travel outside the country more. What they dont understand is we have 50 states and in each state its like s different country. Even the language barrier sometimes is hard to understand because of the accents or slang talk. We have towns as poor as the poorest in Africa to the richest like in Luxemburg. As the food goes. Foreigners are completely lost on that and that amuses me big time. We have the best food in the world, do you know why. We are so diverse and have so many different types of immigrants. They bring their culanary skills with them. We have a restaurant for any country or tyle of food that you can possibly think of. Ill let you on a secrete as well. Do you know why America is so powerful and we basically get what we want. Because, we have the brightest folks from every country in the world over here. Now if we can get some of our own entitled people over here to realize this and quit stealing, drugs and violence we'd be even a stronger country. Everyone knows which demographic region or people im talking about.

60% of Americans do not have a passport, so they cannot travel abroad. In Italy, there are already different dialects from village to village. For example, in Germany and Italy almost everyone has a passport, so almost everyone can travel abroad, although within the EU an identity card is sufficient and a driver's license is often also accepted
I lived in the U.S for 2 years, and spent time in 20 different states. Every state is not like a different country. 🤣 Maybe America was a fantastic country up until the 1990s, but it has peaked. It's been on a serious decline since then. It was great while it lasted, but the golden years are well behind you now. Europeans created America and built it into the greatest country on earth. Without Europeans America is nothing. The lower the European ancestry demographic goes in America the worse the country becomes. And what these people are talking about when they say the food is terrible is the food standards in terms of health. Food standards in Europe are far higher. Plus, this girl mentioned it here, the Mediterranean diet. That and the fact that European towns and cities are places where everyone walks. In America everyone drives every where. There are still some really beautiful parts of America left, but what do they all have in common? Yes, they are majority populated by European ancestry Americans.
no you don't have the best food in the world (I've been to the USA), because even the best Italian restaurant in the USA would only be average in Italy, that's because the ingredients are simply not fresh. Life expectancy is lower, obesity is a big problem.

Honestly, if an Italian made a video about New York and used a country song, that would be fine. However, your comparison doesn't quite hold because this video was about one country's (Italy) view about another country (the U.S.) - not a specific region within a country. Also, the tarantella song was used in the video because it's copyright free. There are certain copyright restrictions when it comes to background music on RUclips. However, perhaps what's being highlighted here by your comment is the strong regional identity (and perhaps rivalry) within Italy itself. Obviously this is a very small sample size of people in this video, but I noticed a good amount of these people have fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes (or one of these three). Is it safe to assume this is more common in Piemonte, and other regions in the north of Italy?

Hi from Italy! For me US is really beautiful, everything is big, I think the persons are opend minded, its a rich country, i like the way you can gesture your money. I would like to live for a period or my life in US.
It is sad to see what the media has done world wide with its gas lighting and fear mongering. 90% of foreign interviews are inline with this one. Everyone of these people interviewed would fall in love with many rural areas in the US. I'm sorry but its ignorant to think that the most cultural country in the world lives on burgers and fries while shooting up everything we see. Ok we love our guns, I own many, my kids own a few. We hunt, target shoot on a regular basis. Everyone I know owns guns(10 or more guns), yet I do not know anyone that has been involved in a crime involving a gun. Outside of walking down the streets of Chicago, New York, LA, Houston in the middle of the night there is nothing to worry about. Rant over gonna go eat a burger and shoot a gun at the same time lol.

America is more about self-efforts, individual freedom and charting one's own path whereas EU nations are more collective and socialistic. There are positives and negatives to both systems.
I'm Italian, I like Americans and I love going on holiday in America, but I couldn't live there because I don't like America as a country, let me explain better... America is a capitalist country, and capitalism is a self-destructive model which, to maintain its power, is forced to wage wars and influence other peoples with its model, also bringing them to their knees, politically, economically, etc. something that has already happened many times in the past and also happens today. In the world it is always the strongest who says the last word and it is not the most fair, I could give a thousand examples of treaties for the preservation of US strength and position in the world, such as the gold standards, the obligation to peg one's national currencies to the dollar, NATO expansion, the Marshall Treaty, the Maastricht Treaty, it would be too long to explain by giving examples, but the West is based on the model imported from the USA with them at the top and the other satellites, this model often ends to influence the cultures of other states, to give an example, it is something that happened with consumerism in Italy which did more damage than Mussolini from the point of view of an Italian historian of the past. Less than half of American households have a firearm. It is not a monoculture of gun nuts. Nor do we eat fast food every day. Also, many Americans are active and physically fit. Based on this video, I would say that the real difference between Americans and Italians is that Italians are highly judgmental and tend to indulge in negatively stereotyping Americans. The reverse is not true. Plus, I have definitely heard a fair amount of horror stories about prejudicial treatment of Americans in Italy. I have no desire to go there.
Hi @johnalden5821, you are right in that stereotypes are not always reflections of reality. That said, the limited number of interviewees also don't reflect the views of Italians-at-large. In other words, not all Italians are judgmental just like not all Americans are overweight and eat fast food everyday. Please do not write off Italy based on what a handful of interviewees in this video have said. It's a beautiful country with friendly people! 😄

I have seen other videos the same as yours where Italians appreciated the States, and the readers were amazed at the positive comments from Italians. Yes, we need to recognize (and appreciate) that there are differences of opinion, but it's a major accusation to label a country of being engaged in world class terrorism.
@@talkintothemic With all due respect i would like to say, USA killed nearly 2 million in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Afghans, frequently bombed Yemen, dropped 2 atomic bombs to kill hundreds of thousands in seconds, involved in constant state of war agianst weak countries, captured innocent bearded men, and downgraded dozens of millions of lives because of the economic/social collapse, forced millions to flee from their houses to start all over again. Supports a tyrannical state who is involved in a gruesome genocide as i write. And the list goes on.. I dont want any arguments but in my humble opinion i think all of these are blunt acts of terrorism… pardon me if i m wrong. ✌️

But, look, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, flying planes into buildings, attacking embassies, taking innocent citizens captive, killing journalists, etc. are all acts of terrorism - not to mention all the failed attempts to wreak havoc in the US or to US national interests. Let's not forget that countless US soldiers bled and died to defend Europe against the Nazis and many parts of Asia against imperial Japanese rule. It still provides protection to other nations all over the world. The US has also helped S. Korea not become subject to the gruesome totalitarian Kim regime of N. The US is also helping Taiwan and the Philippines stand up to a larger foe threatening to take over parts or all of their territory. The communist Chinese regime is notorious for human rights violation (ethnic cleansings lack of free speech where many websites and apps are banned, restrictions on expression of self and religion, etc.) And the list goes on and on. Of course, I understand that depending on the perspective the same country can be seen as a terrorist state or a protector of the free world, but to say that US is "committing blunt acts of terrorism" is really a stretch. As a country that is a part of many multinational treaties and bodies, the US does not work in a vacuum. It's far from perfect or free from bias toward self-interest, but it's still the largest democracy in the world and is not (and cannot because of its constitution) working for the interest of few individuals like terrorists, dictators or tyrants or a totalitarian regime.
Italian women should be grateful that Italy has such strict gun laws. If Italy leads rich countries in domestic violence and femicide, without guns, imagine how bad it would be with guns.

What they dont understand is we have 50 states and in each state its like s different country. Even the language barrier sometimes is hard to understand because of the accents or slang talk. We have towns as poor as the poorest in Africa to the richest like in Luxemburg. As the food goes. Foreigners are completely lost on that and that amuses me big time. We have the best food in the world, do you know why. We are so diverse and have so many different types of immigrants. They bring their culanary skills with them. We have a restaurant for any country or tyle of food that you can possibly think of. Ill let you on a secrete as well. Do you know why America is so powerful and we basically get what we want. Because, we have the brightest folks from every country in the world over here. Now if we can get some of our own entitled people over here to realize this and quit stealing, drugs and violence we'd be even a stronger country. Everyone knows which demographic region or people im talking about.

I lived in the U.S for 2 years, and spent time in 20 different states. Every state is not like a different country. 🤣 Maybe America was a fantastic country up until the 1990s, but it has peaked. It's been on a serious decline since then. It was great while it lasted, but the golden years are well behind you now. Europeans created America and built it into the greatest country on earth. Without Europeans America is nothing. The lower the European ancestry demographic goes in America the worse the country becomes.
And what these people are talking about when they say the food is terrible is the food standards in terms of health. Food standards in Europe are far higher. Plus, this girl mentioned it here, the Mediterranean diet. That and the fact that European towns and cities are places where everyone walks. In America everyone drives every where.
There are still some really beautiful parts of America left, but what do they all have in common? Yes, they are majority populated by European ancestry Americans.

It is sad to see what the media has done world wide with its gas lighting and fear mongering. 90% of foreign interviews are inline with this one. Everyone of these people interviewed would fall in love with many rural areas in the US. I'm sorry but its ignorant to think that the most cultural country in the world lives on burgers and fries while shooting up everything we see. Ok we love our guns, I own many, my kids own a few. We hunt, target shoot on a regular basis. Everyone I know owns guns(10 or more guns), yet I do not know anyone that has been involved in a crime involving a gun. I'm Italian, I like Americans and I love going on holiday in America, but I couldn't live there because I don't like America as a country, let me explain better...
America is a capitalist country, and capitalism is a self-destructive model which, to maintain its power, is forced to wage wars and influence other peoples with its model, also bringing them to their knees, politically, economically, etc. something that has already happened many times in the past and also happens today.
In the world it is always the strongest who says the last word and it is not the most fair, I could give a thousand examples of treaties for the preservation of US strength and position in the world, such as the gold standards, the obligation to peg one's national currencies to the dollar, NATO expansion, the Marshall Treaty, the Maastricht Treaty, it would be too long to explain by giving examples, but the West is based on the model imported from the USA with them at the top and the other satellites, this model often ends to influence the cultures of other states, to give an example, it is something that happened with consumerism in Italy which did more damage than Mussolini from the point of view of an Italian historian of the past.

Less than half of American households have a firearm. It is not a monoculture of gun nuts. Nor do we eat fast food every day. Also, many Americans are active and physically fit. Based on this video, I would say that the real difference between Americans and Italians is that Italians are highly judgmental and tend to indulge in negatively stereotyping Americans. The reverse is not true. Plus, I have definitely heard a fair amount of horror stories about prejudicial treatment of Americans in Italy. I have no desire to go there.
Hi @johnalden5821, you are right in that stereotypes are not always reflections of reality. That said, the limited number of interviewees also don't reflect the views of Italians-at-large. In other words, not all Italians are judgmental just like not all Americans are overweight and eat fast food everyday. Please do not write off Italy based on what a handful of interviewees in this video have said. It's a beautiful country with friendly people! 😄

Let's not forget that countless US soldiers bled and died to defend Europe against the Nazis and many parts of Asia against imperial Japanese rule. It still provides protection to other nations all over the world. The US has also helped S. Korea not become subject to the gruesome totalitarian Kim regime of N. Korea, and because of that, there's now a prosperous and thriving country on the southern half of the Korean peninsula.
The US is also helping Taiwan and the Philippines stand up to a larger foe threatening to take over parts or all of their territory. The communist Chinese regime is notorious for human rights violation (ethnic cleansings lack of free speech where many websites and apps are banned, restrictions on expression of self and religion, etc.)
And the list goes on and on.
Of course, I understand that depending on the perspective the same country can be seen as a terrorist state or a protector of the free world, but to say that US is "committing blunt acts of terrorism" is really a stretch.
As a country that is a part of many multinational treaties and bodies, the US does not work in a vacuum. It's far from perfect or free from bias toward self-interest, but it's still the largest democracy in the world and is not (and cannot because of its constitution) working for the interest of few individuals like terrorists, dictators or tyrants or a totalitarian regime.
