I work as a correctional officer and a lot of times on the patrol truck we listen to the radio, this song has come on a few times while I was on patrol and I've blasted it so all the prisoners could hear it. It is actually a pretty cool feeling

I was always the purist type; still haven't seen the remake. My aunt; my mother's step sister is in her early 20's, claimed the remake so awesome because she knew somebody that got a role in the film. I being a guy born in 1980 will always be faithful to the Kevin Bacon version; that being said I've become a recent country convert starting back in the spring of 2013 and this version of the song has grown on me tremendously; I think it's because Blake Shelton articulates the lyrics better than Kenny Loggins did.
You have a point regarding the articulation, but I feel it is missing the energy that you found in the Kenny Loggins version. And that is too bad.

I love country music (Old stuff mainly) but this has nothing on the original. It's a nice effort but the original has so much energy in it that makes you wanna jump up and dance. This doesn't have that.

cant believe blake shelton came to my city back in september 2022 for a concert, sadly had to work because we were short staff at the hotel because of his concert. would have loved to see him in person, my mom also loves his music, didnt get off work until 6pm, thats how busy and short staff we were and the hotel was booked for the concert too. footloose is one of my fav songs

Yes , originals are usually much better and its not like Blake's is Bad , but Kenny don't get around much anymore and Blake is bringin' it forward , so a new Generation can hear it by with a present day star's influence from his past ! I mean , tribute Bands , if they are good and there are some that are phenomenal & others that suck. Especially if trying to make it sound like their own , and fail miserably. When the original movie of this song came out? I was dating the girl I fell for. And was crazy for. She heard this song an she went off an broke our ties. So I moved on , only to have her knocking on my door one late night. Long story short? It was a disaster on down the road. I found myself wishing she woulda found a road that didn’t bring her back. Blake is one of my favorites. But i couldn’t listen to his remake of this till way long after he did it. Lol bad memories have a way of creeping into ur life from time to time. Even when it’s 40 years gone
