There is actually a lot of hip-hop fans who are also metal fans and vice versa. It's just a natural crossover for whatever reason and I love it. If there is one thing we need in this world today it's for people to be open-minded and I personally think music can bring people together in ways other things cant. Try Slipknot - Unsainted. Heavy but still accessable for the beginning of your journey.
I think the reason is percussion/rhythm. That’s the common factor, and the lyrics. Cory sings a lot in a type of flow. The drummers for Slipknot have been amazing as well.
Corey Taylor is an absolutely phenomenal singer. If you want to hear Corey's amazing clean vocals, check out Slipknot's song Snuff. He's also the lead singer of a hard rock band called Stone Sour, where he does a lot more clean vocals. Here are some suggestions: Slipknot: Wait and Bleed Spit it Out (2009 Download Festival Performance) Duality Before I Forget Heretic Anthem (Conan O'Brian) Stone Sour: Bother Through Glass Song #3 Inhale Influence of a Drowsy God
If you wanna get a true slipknot experience I'd suggest reacting to "Spit it out" (the live at download 2009 version). Not the actual video. You'll see them firing on all cylinders. You being a hip hop head would enjoy the bars thrown on that song as well.
I can recommend Slipknot - Unsainted Slipknot - AOV Slipknot - Critical Darling Slipknot - Nero Forte Slipknot - Devil in I Slipknot - Duality Korn - Can you hear me Korn - Cold Korn - Rotting in Vain Korn - The Hating Enjoy :)
Cory Taylor from Slipknot is a very good singer, no doubt. He has a second band "Stone Sour" where he sings softer sometimes. And he also has some rapping skills, good example would be Slipknot - Nero Forte. Slipknot is a Nu Metal band. And Nu Metal also has Hip Hop influences. I think you can hear it in their groove, their flow and rhythm. It's part of their DNA. And it differs them from classic rock or traditional metal bands. They have 9 bandmembers, even a DJ on the Turntables.
Slipknot are not a nu metal band just because they have like 10 songs that sound like they have hip hop influences in them. They mismash of different genres influences and every song and album overall feels different. Slipknot are a heavy metal band. That's the best way to describe them overall.
@@madmadic4308 Slipknot are very far from Heavy Metal in my opinion. They are not a traditional metal band. Everything screams Nu Metal in their sound.
Love to do a fan version of Duality, just take a mother fuckin house and do mother fuckin SLIPKNOTthings to it hehe :) and just got insane and psycho on it hehe :)
Oh ye, fantastic choices. Although I would maybe swap solitaire unraveling for the cover a seals crazy, just to show how metal can really change a song
If you want to check out more Slipknot, you should check out them playing Spit It Out live at Download 2009. Not only would you see the pure insanity of their live performance, but the song is pretty hiphop inspired so you might dig it for that as well.
I don't know why everyone suggests that version, for me it takes away from the intensity with all the fluff and jumpthefuckup part that got old really quickly.

Welcome to the world of Slipknot.. you will not regret it... but until you see them live you haven't lived.. they're also very humble guys.. like you, I listen to a lot of music but Slipknot is my "go to" for every mood.. Great review!
Welcome.... maggot! Looking forward to watching you become a real fan of everything they do and have done, from lyrics, to vocals ranges, musicality, video clips, crowd control, and the fact they’ve been doing it consistently since the 90s
I have fallen down the KurtisB rabbit hole. I think this is my 3rd or 4th of your reactions. I am here because I am, yes, a maggot! Lol. I see that being a maggot is definitely in your future! This is one of my fav slipknot songs. On one of your other videos, you mentioned this was the first you had watched so I hunted it down to see what you thought. Great reaction! You showed my boys some love so I will subscribe! 😀😅
Very good catch o the psychosocial part. There are two backround singers screaming there. One is in fact saying psychosocial and the other, and I can't believe first time hearing this you caught it, is saying sacrificial. Well done sir
Good reaction. Typical reaction in the sense that people who haven’t listened to slipknot before always think of them as another metal screamo band. I recommend listening to a few of their other songs. Surfer, Duality, Spit it out(live download ‘09), Snuff and Unsainted. That should get you started. Not very heavy songs but you can venture to the heavier stuff if you desire.
I was a hip hop Dj for over 15 years. This is one of my favorite bands ever. PERIOD. They can do it all. “Snuff” is a very good and soft song.... AOV is amazing - they’re just all dope
I subcribed. Watching you react to music like this reminds me of showing a lot of my friends who are hip hop heads like you this type of music. It's almost nostalgic in a way. If I could recommend a handful of bands to you I'd call for alice in chains, soundgarden, Metallica, and for some laughs Dethklok and tenacious D. Keep it coming brother
Awesome reaction and respect to you for trying out Metal🤘🤘 If this is the start of a Metal journey for you then I'm hitting that button and coming with you lol🤘🤘
Slipknot is the best live band I’ve ever seen and tbh with you understanding the lyrics it comes naturally after listening to it for a while. You get really used to the harsher vocals and you tend to appreciate how well they match the music. If you ever get the chance to look at their live videos you should. There’s no band like slipknot. But imma subscribe cuz tbh I don’t care how many people do reactions to metal, I love when new people get introduced to it and learn to appreciate it and even become fans. It grows the community and tbh as scary as metal fans may seem, we’re really nice people haha.
First off, loved the reaction (was the last I watched of your Slipknot reactions, looking forward to more). Second - love your set up mate. At 1080p your vids are crisp AF! Got some good gear obviously. Subscribed after 3 vids, bring it mate!!! \m/_ (>.
i love that you not just react to the song, but analyze this song, its interesting features and details, such as turning off the left guitar for a while, shouting "psychosocial" in the third verse, etc.
Respect I can respect someone who listens to a certain kind of music their whole life but it's absolutely willing to have an open mind and go out of their comfort zone and try something new doesn't hurt slipknot's my favorite band of all time but I listen to everything is well respect keep doing what you do after this video I'll go listen to some of your music
I really love reactions from open-minded people such as yourself. If you go back on channels like FBE with their Slipknot elders react, you really see how a lot of people don’t want to accept metal as more than noise when bands like Slipknot have so much talent or lyrics with meaning (like with System of a Down, for another good example for lyrics) but you’re making that effort to listen to the lyrics and take something from it and really form a genuine opinion. Awesome react dude!
One of my favorite songs by slipknot is funnily enough, a very heartfelt one that isn’t super metal-esque, which is “Snuff”. As well as “Through Glass” by the lead singer’s other band “Stone Sour
Number 1 rule of metal music. Don't pause the song when a guitar solo is going. You have to let it play through. Since you love Hip-hop and Rap. You should check Spit it Out by Slipknot. He raps on that one.
I first heard this song in 2012 when I was in Jr. High, and got into metal/deathcore music just because of Slipknot. Definitely love slipknot since, awesome reaction man. react to other bands like Disturbed and Korn, they're pretty (Sic)!
fun fact both the guitarist takes part in the solo you can hear one of there guitars ring out before going to the backing track and the other guitarists takes over, pretty cool to watch live
