- My transmission control module was fried after water got into the carpet. Here is a helpful how to video showing how to remove a TCU/TCM. Instalations is reverse and rather simple. Subscribe for more helpful how to's.
So very much thankful I got my TCM off of eBay $13.95,was driving for two years in limp mode, what do I have to lose installed TCM worked perfectly been driving three years not a single problem , Hats off to you, Sir!!
These small how to videos are the best part of RUclips. Thank you
You breaking everything while trying to get behind the dash was me this morning trying to get to my CCM lol
That face of defeat when taking apart pieces and breaking clips on an Audi, I know it all too well.
Thank you for the video. Some others on the same subject show the unit out of the car, unplugging the old TCU, then plugging in the new one, without showing how to remove the trim panels to access under the carpet. I was looking at one point on information for a different car (Volvo) for removal of the hood, and the moron that posted that video starts with the part already on the ground, and points to the empty bracket mounting holes and says: "You have to remove these screws before you can remove the hood off the car." When I pointed out how deficient his video was for just showing the location of the hinge screws, he wrote: "That's what you're supposed to do."
Thanks for the informative video about the TCM location and how important it is to get an exact match.
i realize Im kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new tv shows online?
very good and helpful video. You explained it well and slow enough to make sense! Thank you so much for this. Excellent video.
Thanks for this video, I took mine out today to check for water, CCM ok, floor soaked.
Thanks Just Cruz'n, I'm getting ready to pull mine out of my 04 A6 and this was a big help.
Motor Pro: No problem bud. Glad I could help
You know what’s funny? You remind me of me 20 years ago when I started owning used Audi’s. “Oops this clip broke!” “Oops this fastener is missing” “oops this leaked” man you think a “high end “ car would last better and use better materials! Thanks for the vid as I am troubleshooting a shift issue and blinking courtesy lights. 👍
What problem did your car have?
Where else is tcm located when not under the passenger or driver's seat?
Hey thanks for this video , i want ask you if this TCM do PNRD flashing on dashbord ? And the car no go when its warm
Thank you very thoroughly explained 👏
On my 98 Audi A4 Q Avant, I was able to just use a screwdriver to loosen up the bottom plastic door trim (that hides edge of carpeting) and pull the vinyl up out of its spring bracket hole. My TCM was not screwed down...so with some scrap wood and a hand crowbar, I was able to get the old TCM accessible. I found a few drop of water inside the black plastic case. Is there some way to waterproof the case with silicon sealant so to not allow any moisture in the TCM again? In Wisconsin this year, we have gotten over 24" of rain so I hope to not get any moisture in the footwell to cause this breakdown again.
Exelente amigo .... a good work
Is it necessary to code this brain when it is replaced?
Thank you for this video
Which number need to match up? the ones after the audi symbol or the ones with barcodes above them?
Thank you for your information
What year is this?
I just got a CEL codeP0811 and just so happens the front passenger window is stuck open. think this tcm got fried too? The error code is for transmission shift solenoid or low ATF level. the level is full.
Thanks for the info for the location
Hey quick question do you know by chance if on a 2006 a4 where the TCU is located would be greatly appreciated
I'm sorry I do not
My 04 A6 is showing "press clutch pedal to start engine" on the info screen , what do you think the problem could be ? Any information is greatly appreciated thank you !
Mine is showing the same thing but the car is an automatic. Did you ever diagnose the issue?
Thank you!
Thanks m8
Use a hair drier to warm it up
you get a like though as the effort was solid and you showed, mostly, how to get to it.
@just cruz'n. I have got audi a4 1.9 tdi automatic. Last week PRND started to flash and car was in limp mode especially whe setting off the 1st gear. Also reverse gear limping. Is it gearbox ECU or TCM fault or possibly both?
Marco Polo is that a cvt?
yes it is a cvt..not quattro .do you think it is serious repair?
I believe cvt units have a internal tcm. I don't believe this procedure will work on your vehicle
Nice video, thanks
Just a question. Was wondering once I put the new tcm in can i just start the car to see if it works or do I need to reset some codes or something first
thank you
Hello Tuff Sew,
In my case, I did clear the codes before swapping the TCM. You may be able to get away with not doing so. If indeed you choose not to, the light should turn off after the vehicle has completed one drive cycle.
So if i buy a used tcm off of ebay for my audi a6 will i have to reprogram it or just plug it in
Tuff Sew I bought mine from eBay and just plugged it in. that may not always be the case but it worked on mine. I also spoke with an Audi mechanic and he told me that these 'vintage' vehicles generally don't need tcm pdogramming
Theres also a box under the driver seat, what is that callled?
DrCrayRay that is the body control module
Out of everything I know about cars, do I need the tcu if I’m 6 speed swapping
Ok bout you need to program? Or not
Armando Hilario I didn't have to. read the other comments below for a more in depth answer
Hi there
I have A6 1998
Whats mean TCM ples ?
Thanks
K Laziza tcm means transmision control module
transmission control module
My car is not starting after changing this box... Please give me solution
You likely have an incorrect tcm
@@Rurik_JustCruzn how can I fix it... Is there is any coding in this... Because my car cranks but not starts.
@@mdsajidabdullah8584 if you purchased the correct tcm that matches your original sku number it should fire up eith ease. You likely have the incorrect tcm. From my experience, installing a incorrect tcm should allow the car to start but wont allow it to drive. You may have a different issue.
I can confirm.. car will start and run totally fine even without a TCM connected. You have a different problem, unrelated to the TCM.
I need help with a Audi A4 Quattro my windows are stuck up and they won't go down any suggestions anyone please help me trying to give this car to my daughter for high school
