hand made used to mean something with an old artisan in a small factory who understood everything they are doing and how the pieces fit together, hand made in Thailand probably doesn't mean the same thing.
I like that it is not over hyped in the upper mid and highs. Most pencil condensers on the market have terrible frequency response in this price range. Brittle and harsh with a pinched sound. They are reporting specs with only a 2 db rise starting at 5k and mellowing out after 10k. Ruler flat down to 20hz ? lets hear it, if it sounds as good as the spec sheet says it is I will buy four at this price range.

It's a thin barrel cardioid, so, yeah, that's quiet. Schoeps MK4 is 15 dB, SE SE1a is 17, etc.
