Once again, another fun, educational, and outstanding documentary from you sir. I really like 'less is more' approach they took to building this machine. Must be a mechanic's dream, especially with those large catwalks.
This is a really nice video, i like the way you go into details, very interesting! Also your voice tells you've got a genuine interest in these machines and in letting us know about them :-) Good work!
Very impressive piece of equipment. I like the fire suppression system. Seems like cheap insurance to me. I also like the way the machine has been simplified -- two pumps instead of six and one motor instead of two. Simple is best. Great vid!
Komatsu bought out Demag in 1996 and even today Komatsu's mining shovels from the PC3000 to the PC8000 are designed and built in Germany. The machines still come out of the old Düsseldorf Demag factory. A lot of guys will often say a Komatsu shovel is nothing but a Demag with Komatsu colors and decals. .
Nice video again. --- We live in those cabs so WHY is this one such a mess? MY cab was carpeted and SPOTLESS! The company I worked for put platforms on the top of the superstructure that had a bathroom and an are for your food prep. WHY? Well this is so that the operator never has to get off the machine, is always happy and productive. Wish I could find the pics of those machines.
No if you notice it's parked on the shoulder of the haul road leaving the pit. So what he did was walk it up the road and then swing back around over the motors so the access ladder wasn't facing the high wall.
Nicely done video done again PAMINING , ive been following you for a while now and i gota say uve NEVER disapointed. Is that excavator replacing the old DeMag u guys have?
Yeah because the three PC2000's we had at one company I worked for were made in japan. They used them for digging a waterline from Arizona to California. Roughly 1800 miles of 8 foot tall waterline for the new aqueduct. It would run 24 hours a day 7 days a week non stop
Amazing video as always full of great info! Just wondering why they built the tank to 898 gal not 900? Maybe, its 900 but after lines and pumps take some room inside its less?
Very nice vid Justin!!! I have to agree with Joe on the cab, very messy!! Im in mine for 12 hrs at a time and make sure it is kept spotless. I like the fire suppression setup, we have 5 30lb canisters in the electrical comp.....were those 100-150lbs in elec comp and 3 30lbs on engine compartment? I think my biggest issue with pc2000 is the travel seems very weak! Also we have a 19.5 yd bucket, it handles it very well......you should look into it when its time for a new bucket
awesome video mate, how many hours has this machine done, we've jus received a brand new one exactly the same but with a few more extra's looking awesome inside an out. I know its gonna look like this one day,
Wow... working on the valve body on our hitachi 1800 is horrible. Twin motors is nice cause if one dies you can position the machine for work. I like the cab on my 1800 better but all else that is one nice machine.
paulthesoundguy1 I think you may have misheard what I stated in the video. The Backhoe version of the PC2000 weighs between 220.5 - 225 tons, depending on shoe size. The Front Shovel version weighs 215 tons. 2,000 lbs equals 1 U.S or Short Ton. So converted to pounds, the Backhoe weighs between 440,920 - 450,000lbs and 429,900lbs as a Front Shovel.
Your company looks after you, I get smoko when the komatsu guys come and fuel it and give it the once over then at lunch time another operator hot seats it, if there is nobody to jump in at lunch I just shut it down for lunch

Thanks. I didn't think the cab was that bad, I have been in a lot worse! I'm not sure about the canisters
Thank you! An just an FYI, it's "Demag" not "DeMag" lol. And yes this machine replaced an older H185S.
Love your documentaries. Keep it up!

You have to do the documentary of the Komatsu PC8000! Good video
I'd love to! Excavators are my favorite to do because there's so much to show
Thanks,@@PAmining New suscriber!
Welcome!
The way this is parked makes it look like the operator was digging over the finals.
Great looking machine. thnx for showing us it.
i wish i upgrade on one of those one day ! still on my 670 john deere :P
Thank you!

Thanks!
I do like pc 2000-8. ... Easy maintenance.. I am mechanic of pc 2000-8..
Thanks
AMAZING!!!!
Another home run
good video as allways :)
I have no idea. Thanks
Yeah the 2000 is more Japanese engineering. If you look on KMG's website the PC2000 isn't even listed. The 2000 is popular for big earthmoving jobs

Weight was stated as 200 to 225 tons. That would make this machine 400,000 pounds?
Wouldn't weight be 200,000 to 225,000 pounds?
Just asking

When did Komatsu become German?...
