I made xacuti following your steps. It came out well. With your process the masala and water didn't split like it used to happen whenever I made it earlier and I didn't know what was the solution
AFAIK you dry roast everything (separately) , so a bit surprised to see onions and ginger and garlic being fried in oil . Also surprised to see a green paste being used to marinate the chicken. Is this normal or a personal decision to change the usual method?
Sushmita, you need to add the tamarind along with the roasted onions, coconut & spices while grinding. I've explained it in the recipe video. Have a nice day. 🙂
Amelia, You get button chillies in Goa, don't really know if you get them in Mumbai. You will need to check out and see. Button chillies are Spicy Chillies but don't give a red color. Whereas Kashmiri Chillies are less Spicy & make the gravy red in color.

Janak, You can add cashews but it's generally not added in Xacuti 😀
