Secondly, the song has nothing to do with the ideology. It is about soviet tankmen doing their duty and defending their motherland. Thirdly, the men were sent against the machinegun points unarmed only in the very beginning of the war because there was deficit in production. I am personally thankful to the nkvd for shooting desrters, not because I wanted those men to die, but because the actions of the nkvd kept order in place and later lead to our dominance over the Wehrmacht scum. Just imagine the scene :
We are in the early 80's, during the euro missile crisis that degenerated :
Soviet VDV (parachutists) are surrounded by nato forces after an attack over Western Germany. They are suffering heavy losses, they understand that they are going to die for the motherland, far behind the ennemy lines...
And at this moment, they hear this music at maximum volume, coming from far away. The russian commander, already wounded, look at the horizon : he sees hundreds of old t-34 85, with DDR flags and german infantry, attacking the surrounding nato forces by behind. German suffers heavy losses against modern western tanks, but they are brave enough to manage to breach the encirclement.
At this moment, surviving VDV grab their AK-47s and charge too, helping their allies : their are saved !
At the end, when the music is almost over, you see the soviet commander shaking hands with the east german officer.
Long live to the friendship between all socialist nations ! УРААААААА, my german brothers !
