wow, i didn't know they had places like that!!! i would go crazy!!! and hot springs!!! oh my, heaven to me
So much variety in such a concentrated area. So jealous of all the people who can access such a treasure as this spot. Thanks for taking us along.have a fun and safe new years.
I really enjoyed this video 🤗🤗 Thank you
Nevada has alot of rocks... been looking for them for years. It goes deep just saying good luck out there.
Just found your channel and you’re absolutely adorable and knowledgeable. I’ll bet you and Wonderhussy would hit it off. I’d love to see you guys team up and go on an adventure. She loves hot springs too. I’m kind of an amateur geologist myself so I really appreciate what you do. I ran across another RUclipsr geologist named Shawn Willsey that has a great channel if you love geology. Because you guys and rocks, ROCK!
Love how excited you get and the things you find! Glad you could find a hot springs, my back would love that too!
What a fun excursion! I'm ready to go now.
Absolutely beautiful! My 79 year old mom and I are flying out to Vegas at the end of April then heading to Cerro Gordo, Trail of 100 Giants, and Yosemite. Gemfield sounds like a great stop on our way back to Vegas to fly home.
I'm slabbing up a big chunk of this material in my 24" saw right now! :) I collected it about 20 years ago.....
Those are so cool! Sounds like a place I need to explore
Love your enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing
What a great show. From the desert, to hot springs, to several rock sights. Thanks for sharing. I love that part of the world.
Girl to girl rock hunter your awesome, love your enthusiasm, thanks for sharing
You had me at “ Hot geo-thermal fluids intruding into tight cracks & fissures” ….😉. Always a pleasure to see your videos Ellie , and your enthusiasm and excitement while exploring new areas is so refreshingly beautiful in this day & age . And you sitting in a natural hot spring with a cup of joe , in only a knotted up T-shirt & your underwear was a great way to enjoy Hump day in the Middle of the week between Christmas & the New year . “Do what you love , and love what you do , and work becomes no longer work , but fun instead “. Thanks for all you post , and may you have a blessed & safe 2024. Stay safe out exploring now , ya hear ?? C-ya in the future….😎👍
I live in Utah and very much enjoy your rock hounding. So much to learn. Stop and visit when in Central Utah
One reason ppl soak naked is because laundry detergent residues and microfibers that are introduced into the spring change it's ecosystem. Just in case anyone thought it's "bad" to be naked in hot springs - it's actually preferred and considered good etiquette by the hot springer community 💦
Yes wish she had good hot tub etiquette
@@averypc6611 within the first 2 minutes of stumbling upon this channel I saw that I won't be supporting it.
The Hot Spring is actually on BLM public land, and open to the public. I do my research before going. thank you for watching :)
i am in love with the bullseye!!!
Love your videos. Please come back to SC Rockhounds for another presentation.❤ in AZ.
Because engineers need heros too ! :) Dead😝
Petroleum Engg here
Very nice. What a spot!
Was out at gem field about 20 yrs. Ago! Looks like it's expanded and still yielding great material!
Great adventure; thank for sharing
Love your videos, hope to win that rock tumbler you are giving away for 2024 keep up the good work....
Yup my favorite place. The claim owner is awesome.
Well, guess what Elley - You have to go back out there! You forget to look for the rocks using a UV light!
I know, a night trip there would be amazing!!!!!
Wow, a lot of the opalite and chalcedony reminds me of mookaite. Definitely have to plan a trip out there.
Very cool!
Elley...keep rocking and rolling baby 👍 Love you. That's a really cool location I'll have to check it out someday.
Fellow rock hound in San Diego.
Try clove and cinnamon apple tea.
Great video, but when in bright sunlight, you have to adjust white balance, it will make the video look as if it was filmed on overcast day, but colors will be more visable
We come clean up trash, and drain, bleach and scrub the pools in the spring and fall. It grows algae really fast.
Good Video
WOW.
very cool.
This is a amazing video, Bryan Major loves my arrow heads, that I flint knapp from glass and flint, I told him and Brad shochtz , and Frank and Kendall Staling , how to flint knapp, so they can sell small pieces of flint, for a higher price, I was called the world champion flint knapper 5 times, because I can make things that no one else could get close
If I knew you were here in Tonopah, I would if come find you to rock hint and learn from you...
Oh mercy,,,,thot I was the only Rock nut I love rocks,,love Ur video
Rock On❤❤❤
So amazing and beautiful 😍 the minerals are awesome too 😊. Wish I could meet a woman like you that also enjoys geology as much as I do. Hopefully some day.
Idk if I like people tarring down beautiful big specimens just because the omage of the parks respect!
I like your new hair colour Elleyyyyyyy
wonder if the colors are brighter in real life then on camera, have seen with other youtube video's that sometimes the color just doesn't completely get caught
Do you know if that is a form of chert Elly?
Its definitely Chert, not Jasper
Would it be possible to see what it looks like after the tumbling and cuts?? Rick
Alkali Hot Spring is actually on private property, but the signs keep disappearing. According to someone who knows the owners, they leave the hot water on at full flow, to make it too hot, and have been known to show up at night, leave their lights on pointing at the tub, diesel engine running until whoever is in there leaves. Not recommended. There are better ones that I won't mention.
Very irresponsible for someone to promote a spot that is not legal to be at. She also doesn't understand hot springs etiquette or chemistry (theres a practical reason for not wearing clothes into hot springs but she's just concerned about "eww being nude" LOL)
It is on private property and is inappropriate for anyone to post videos and basicly invite others to it without owner's permission. The no trespassing sign is there on the tree, but vandalized and faded. The land owner is known to run people off. Some of the locals will say the public is not allowed. Not to sound negative but people really should be careful with all this internet promotion. I'm surprised she wasn't cooking in that pool. The fitting behind her, is on full flow with 123F water input at 10gpm. It is adjustable. This hot spring is usually too hot and filthy with algae and bacteria from nasty, smelly people and their dogs that so often come here often bathing with soap. The tubs get very gross rather quickly.
The Hot Spring is actually on BLM public land, and open to the public. I do my research before going. thank you for watching :)
You would not want to be in the water if you knew the stuff I have pulled out of it lol.
Can we talk about that necklace you have on? ❤❤❤
Elley, Do you think that the natives could pressure flake any of the stones you found for arrow or spear points?
I'm not Elley, but the answer to your question is yes.
for sure!! these would make awesome arrow heads!
Pulled over one night in Nevada to sleep and when i got up there was the graffiti building didn't see the hot spring
That was fun. I would love to visit Gemfield. I like the bullseye chalcedony, it looks a little like wonder stone, is it about the same? The hot springs would be nice too. Thanks for the adventure.
what you're talking about generally is transparent...expect for agate that is what they call seam agate...which is opiate like jasper
Anyone been to the hot springs in the last month or so curious if it's open and somewhat clean
So, was that area underwater when all that geologic activity happened?
!
Where's your spray bottle girlfriend? Love everything about your videos!
Oops. There it is. 😅
Im in sault ste marie ontario canada. I think i found a 300 lbs lake superior conglomerate agate but not sure. Ive been hunting my beaches for 30 yrs and never found anything like this can you help..... no geologist here will return my calls
send me a picture on instagram or facebook
@ElleyKnowsRocks hey Elley. I dont have either lol im.old school kid from the 80s n 90s lol but i have 3 camps right on lake superior in Sault ste marie ontario right at the samdy beach and stoney point in batchewana bay. Ive been hunting rock all my life and amateurly read about geology and watch your vids but i cant tell what kimd of bands are runnimg throughout. I cant tell if its from alluvial activity or agate banding. It looks like a conglomerate agate....so ugly its so cool lol
Wow. Sexy and Smart. That's why I love your videos. I just read your article in the Jan/Feb edition of Gold Prospectors. Good job!
That's an interesting place, but are you sure that tests out as true Jadeite?
not sure, this is what the gem fields called it... but it does act the same with similar physical properties. :)
Btw.. Those are Donkeys not burros.. lol
Is bullseye chalcedony the same thing as fortification agate. And did you know that if you find a giant on Google maps and you go to it. Try to figure out where the eyes might have been. You will find selenite crystals. Small dogtooth type and if you were to put them all back together you'd have a little sphere. You SEE what I'm getting at! I'm telling you biogeology is way better and more exciting then what we were taught. Sooner or later you just got to break down and live in reality. Trust me you don't want to be one of them that taught us wrong when the time comes. I like you and I think you're cool. So don't be a fool there's still time to go back to school. 😇
I don't know if you watch your own videos but I am sure it would make a huge difference to viewers if you took a minute to wet the rocks down you find otherwise to be honest they look kind of bland like you kept mentioning the colour purple but in the video it just looks grey. Fun video overall though would be nice if you took the trouble to wet things down.
Fear of nudity? Come on now
When you said you forgot your bikini, I was hoping for a totally all natural hot springs video, wink, wink. However, we did get to see a lot of nice agates.
Love your videos. Please come back to SC Rockhounds for another presentation.❤ in AZ.
Fantastic Site!!!
Great finds!!!
WOOHOO
OK I'm more about gold and gems, sapphires, aquamarine etc but that was pretty cool.
Have you thought about producing a book or guide for collecting at public sites? You find some interesting areas. Thx for sharing.
Cool video!
Glad you enjoyed it
