  • In this American English lesson, you will hear nearly 40 minutes of genuine English conversation. The accent might be a little heavy. There is a bit of a Maine accent here, but we will chop down a tree, do a little ice fishing, and visit a summer camp damaged in a storm. I hope you enjoy.

I'm grateful for the videos, Brent. I just wanted to say that the way you are teaching is good, it would be beneficial for English language learners if you could include some videos in which you explain some of the words or sentences. As English learners, we hear the words when people speak in English but we do not understand what they saying. An additional suggestion would be to provide a PDF with the definitions of the challenging terms you used. Thanks again

Hey Brent, the best video ever, a real movie!!! Real, live conversations is the best part of it! Watched it with the greatest pleasure! We also had fun going ice fishing last weekend! A paradox- you use smelt as a bait and we use spoon baits to catch smelt here)) We call a skimmer thing "a ladle". As for the game wardens, we don't need any licence to ice fish on the lakes or rivers unless we use more than ten fishing rods. Amateur type of fishing, you know) Btw, how long does the battery in your cam last in cold weather? Mine goes flat too quickly in -10😕 I spend most of the vacations in the woods with my family, so "picking a tree" is quite familiar to us😁 And I noticed the planes flying by, I wish you could film how they take off and land on the lake... Big thanks, teacher!

Kontantin, thanks so much for the kind, thoughtful words. I had no problem with the battery. I use the endoro battery, I think it's called for the GoPro.

@@AmericanEnglishBrent Oh, thanks for the tip-off about the battery, mine is different, I'll try to use Endoro. But, I have a feeling, it's all about too low temperatures in our neck of the woods❄️👣

Amazing lesson, thank you so much ❤ ! Interesting topic at a beautiful place. Ice fishing is definetely on my bucket list. I hope nothing bad happened at the end and it was just your batterie running out of power🙏 , I'm wondering if Evan just forgot his Beanie or he doesn't feel pain and if
anyone in the US ever wears safety gear?
If you had fish for lunch I hope it was delicious😋

I'm not a fisherman, but maybe the fish were not interested in the holes because they have enough oxygen in the open part of the lake.
