Muchas Gracias, lo pude instalar bien gracias a éste video, con las instrucciones que me había enviado el vendedor de Ebay nunca lo pude instalar bien. Muchas Gracias
I have a question for you. I have a poem-061 that I’m going to install to run a generator. My question is, does the red lead wire on the CT is connected on the outer or inner post?
Hi thanks for the video I would buy one but want to fit it to the 6mm tails from the meter to the consumer unit so I can read the total house power at all times so my question is is there a clamp-on coil version so that I don't have to disconnect the main wire or perhaps I should just buy a clamp meter
Hi, you are welcome. eBay and AliExpress is full of such stuff. I have purchased an item with CT (current Transformer) that opens and closes. Once it arrives, I will make video on that.
The watts meter is off around 15 +/- watts, reading should be 781.704 watts if the power factor is correct. If being within 1 or 2 watts is important. The amp reading could be wrong too, who knows.
I'm hooking this up to monitor a 240v hot water heater and have both hot wires going through the coil but I get no reading. I ensured the coil is installed correctly and even switched it to make sure but still nothing. Am I only supposed to put one hot wire through? Any suggestions ?

@Robojax (Yes I understand that) what I wanted to ask is: on screen on the total cumulate " KWh "does include PF ? or do I have to add the PF % to know the electricity bill ? (sorry was not very clear question)
It is NOT DC otherwise you would use Arduino to measure it. I did not bother to look at it. You will need a circuit with few components to proportionally convert the AC from CT to DC and then measure it. This Power meter has the circuit built-in that does the job.
Can this easily be hard wired to monitor AC current instead of using the CT and will it be as accurate? Actually, I'd think hard wired would give the most accurate readings possible.
So there is no way to hard wire a power meter such as this into an AC circuit? Hard wiring would be better for physical installation in a breaker panel as the CT is too large to fit inside.
so if i understand... If I have PF=75%, that's mean if I want to know how much I will pay electricity I have to do "My total "KWh" + 25% = electricity bill ? Or the total "KWH" is without power factor ?
Hello Mister. I do have one of this. and I want to built a meter. My idea is to mount this on an extension cable so I can connect any apliance and measure how much it consumes. But for that I would need to power the meter and the load from the same AC power supply (the wall socket). Would that work? or I would have wrong measurements if I connect them in parallel? I am in Germany Europe (230V 50Hz). I a predicate if anyone can answer anything. cheers.
Hello, I clearly shown and practically did the wiring. Maybe you missed it. if any wire passes through the hole of sensor, it will measure only that current. Please watch again.
@@robojax I am sorry I took your time with something was already in your video. I will watch it for the third time.. much more carefully. Maybe the reason of my miss attention ist my 6 weeks old daughter that usually sleeps on my arms as I watch your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time.
Hi, thanks for the informative video. I have a Drok device which has all the same functions as the one you preview. I had a licensed electrician install it but it only displays volts and hertz. The amps and watts remain at zero. After watching your video, I thought that the CT was facing the wrong way so I made the change, but still doesn't display actual amps and watts. We are trying to read a 240 volt 20 amp receptacle. He put wires on the two hot terminals on the receptacle and connected the other end to the meter. We put one of the hot wires through the CT (initially the wrong way as I previously wrote). I have images of the install but don't think I can upload them here? Thanks in advance for your help. I'm trying to track the electrical consumption of my electric car and truck with this device.
Hi, You are welcome. If it turns ON you did everything correct. The last thing need to correct was the CT which you mentioned you did it correct. There is nothing else you could do. Ether the wiring of CT is broken or the device is bad. You can post the image in this website snipboard.io/ . Once you did, each image will have unique URL (address) which you can share back here.
@@robojax Thanks for your very prompt reply. I uploaded photos to my server and here are the URL's. I left them high resolution so that you could clearly make out the connections. I believe I demonstrate it. Your generator is just power source like wall outlet where you connect a load such as bulb. Exactly the same way I connected the toaster to power, it will be connected to your generator.
You would have to know the rate in your country or region for example in our city (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) it is $0.12/kWh at Peak time . If this device shows that I have had 10kWh, then cost=10kWh x 0.12 =$1.20. I hope that helps. Depending on your region you might have "delivery charge" and other cost which you should see in your bill.

In most countries, you don't pay for reactive power. So you will pay for the 25%. Check with your local electricity provider.
