you are so right about them lying about AAU being a one time purchase and then asking to pay for the expansion "garden of the gods" I for one saw many players go offline and remain that way after this announcement, it's just sad how they let their greed ruin such a good game, after all the server I am on is American and I can assure you it has A LOT less population now that it had before the garden, many people just sign in like once a week for tax certificates so they won't lose their property, though a lot on my friends on the list are remaining offline for a while now !

I wish them the best of luck with this. They learned from their mistakes by giving us Unchained (even tho it wasn’t THAT successful) and I hope this one is even better
I love eastern MMORPG styles but I haven’t found one that last as long, updates, playerbase, etc. as consistent as WoW :( What is the closest to “WoW” game in Asia ? Or is there none yet. Maybe Maple?
Unfortunately since Archeage's sociopathic monetization cuts it's lifespan to typically around 6-8 months before merges are on the table, this will just have to be a wait and see situation for me.
Archeage was such a great game... for a few months after resets but then after the whales start picking up their credit cards it just gets worse and worse. In all honesty this is how i want too see Archeage 2 pan out, but i know greed will win out over creating a fair game. 1) No pay to win elements at all. Cosmetics, Mounts, race changes, faction changes whatever else isn't a power increase that can be baught sell it. 2) Keep everything great about Archeage itself, Boating, Trade packs, Combat, Gliders. 3) Make sure your PvE content isn't a bugged out mess and make doing dungeons worthwhile when leveling up as well. Doing straight Quests can get boring and while I didn't mind grinding up via questing and burning labor with certificates its just dumb and doesn't teach your base how to play the game together with other players. 4) Expand on the deep class list and combinations and create more classes even. 5) Make this game Subscription based and or Buy to play like Unchained. Free to play is cancer and eventually kills every MMO that has it. No good current MMO is Free to play and will never be (See FFXIV and WoW) If Archeage 2 comes out with all this i could see it being an amazing game and far outclassing the current Archeage in my opinion. Theres probably other things I could add but this was just off the top of my head.
Considering they never learned the lesson with AAU it will tank pretty quick, there is huge craving for good sandbox mmos but no game so far does the money making/crafting loop, they do a strait line instead of a loop. AAU had the issue of you made money just to dump into the rng of upgrading your gear(not counting the dailies originally that you had to run to do that) and for ships, there wasn't much reason for the gear other than the more high end money making with a guild/not get ran over from a random gank. There was such a limit on housing unless you had multi accounts to keep tax costs low it wasn't worth trying to have most of the buildings let alone a decent size farm. They had good systems in place but gutted it so bad that everyone grinded for a few months then dropped it due to burn out with no reason to go back
Most memorible Archage moment: Seeing somone put an up close and personal image of a trans person on the ship sails. This was also the same day I walked away from Archage.
I'm actually genuinely excited about this. But keeping a skeptic optimism if that's even a thing lol. If they keep the P2W out but improve their systems and remove the tab target for a dynamic combat like Tera I'll be the first to sign up. We'll see in 5 years lol.
Wait, really? For PC? That's great. Everyone should keep making PC MMOs as new hardware could make worlds that we only dreamed of like 10-15 years ago. And the market is still big enough.
The problem with AA is that they always manage to fuck it up at some point. Bought Unchained hoping they had learnt from the past.. Next thing I knew was server shutdown for several days and auction house issues. Losing scrolls to upgrade starting gear while rerolling stats before upgrading to Hiram (and autoselecting higher enhancements or w/e it was called then necessary as well) was complete bullshit as well since there was no way to recover the scrolls and you had to fiddle around with the other enhancement thingies to get extra ones. Liked the game but all the troubles killed it for me.
We got deceived twice already. Better graphics wont make up for it. AoC > AA2 any day and I'm also more looking forward to what kind of improvements New World makes.
as a player who spent probably 20k+ hours in archeage and around 5k hours in bdo, archeage has become a game thats SOOOO frustrating over the years especially with no craft weapons content and with Daily quest simulator. otherwise archeage was a good mmo even in its p2w times. the content is what they really should care about. it was the most content abundant game, lots of roleplay stuff, pvp and dungeons. but all they did was care about the pvp system cuz competetive players would want to regrade or enhance their gears so they just created contents to push people to do more and more p2w so people could get better gear. the problem in bdo in other hand, its lacking content A LOT, i mean its basically a solo progress game, even if you start to bdo with friends, with time you will realize the game actually seperates you from your friends. i just hope XLGames wont f up archeage 2 also. AAAAAAND i just hope they wont pick effing Gamigo as europe publisher cuz they are beyond sucking. when i started to archeage more than 5 years ago, we even had Vietnamese guilds in EU servers, and they didnt have trouble with the game connection-wise. The publisher was Trion Worlds back then, now the effing gamigo is the publisher and you cant play the game smoothly even if you live in EU. physical servers suck. they suck so much you cant even see in any other games in the world. its like they setup a physical server with a celeron processor and with a 100 KBPS connection. i mean i get 220 ping from NA servers and 180 from EU servers. there are games i live in NA servers and i get less ping than 150... anyway, in a nutshell i hope AA2 will be great and stay as great as it can, hope they add good content to BDO, and gamigo can kiss my ass
One of the biggest problem with Archeage is that the world feels so small and crappy. Theres not enough detail and all the landscapes have no wow factor. I just hope archeage 2 has way better graphics and more amazing setting. Is it going to be a new world? A entirely new continent? Honestly, as long as I go in knowing I'll quit in 2-3 months I feel like it'd be worth trying out. I just want grand cities like guild wars 2 and blue protocol. Not crappy slums and a bunch of cities no one cares about.
One of the reasons why mmos are coming back is because BDO's cash shop has caught the attention of devs. Developers aren't gonna sit and watch Pearl Abyss milk the players without getting in on the action. Guaranteed it will be p2w, but it will be a hell of a game.
I played the ArcheAge US Alpha and it was one of the best MMO experiences I ever had. Absolutely. It's such a shame that they completely ruined it with horrible p2w. I wish the concept of fucking "cash shops" never existed in the first place because it is absolutely ruining the video game industry. I'd much rather pay any amount per month for a great game than to play a terrible game for free!!!!!
"wants to be the next best MMORPG" This is hilarious. They have the potential, but the second you put in p2w microtransaction garbage, your game will die. The game may take 3, 5, or even 7 years to develop, but takes 5 seconds to destroy your game and player base.
Hope one day all these "games" creating companies who focus solely on milking players for cash, will die out, due to lack of naive ppl who's willing to pay them cash for the mediocre crap they push out and call it a next miracle. I hope we are heading towards the point where industry has started, with two major game developers who put effort and willing to create next epic mmorpg to be addicted to for years to come. But these are just hopes and dreams.
Hopefully it ends up NOT going with the "free to play but actually very much NOT f2p" business model. I miss the days when MMOS just had a simple fucking subscription model and you didnt have all this p2w trash, but hey, BDO discovered that you can literally build an entire game around forcing people to buy stuff and what do u know it turned out to be super profitable so ofcourse every shameless new dev without any self respect is going to go with the same. Ive spent close to 2k hours on BDO and looking back on it it really boggles my mind how little content that game actually has for being so popular. The only things it has going for it is the combat system and graphics.
i will be trying it and i think its going to be action combat not tabe target like archeage 1 i heard, developers for recruitment, need to know english and kakao is publisher then we not gonna have problem like archeage 1 with publisher like Trion and gamigo for EU/NA, lol
I'm glad to hear this one because it's nice that they're not picking the easy way and make a mobile mmo but they should make it p2p if they can't make a proper b2p . Making a p2w b2p game is not gonna work this time
ArcheAge 2: We won't add any pay2win elements. Also ArcheAge 2: *In order to buy more footsteps to explore some more, please visit our cash shop.* I love the idea about archeage but man is it bad lol. Unchained indeed, not really p2w but they just replaced it with a horrendous system that would have you need to play 25 hours a day (yes I know) in order to get something usefull. Lol
just came here to read mediocre players about P2W in MMO, as they complain about aimbot in FPS and Broken champions/heros in MOBA, and how they try to justify their lack of skills in every single game

I wish them the best of luck with this. They learned from their mistakes by giving us Unchained (even tho it wasn’t THAT successful) and I hope this one is even better
Title says "ARCHEAGE 2 IS COMING!" when it obviously not even come out in 2023-25... I love those titles
People like to blame Kakao for the p2w in bdo, but its actually pearl Abyss they have complete controll of what goes into that game.
If it's same publisher as the current one, no matter how good it looks or plays, it will be dead within 6 months.
AA Unchained remained without p2w for a year now
So I guess they learnt their lesson hopefully with AA 2 aswell
I love eastern MMORPG styles but I haven’t found one that last as long, updates, playerbase, etc. as consistent as WoW :( What is the closest to “WoW” game in Asia ? Or is there none yet. Maybe Maple?
I'm very excited for this
I am hyped!
what is the Outro song?
No good current MMO is Free to play and will never be (See FFXIV and WoW)
If Archeage 2 comes out with all this i could see it being an amazing game and far outclassing the current Archeage in my opinion.
They had good systems in place but gutted it so bad that everyone grinded for a few months then dropped it due to burn out with no reason to go back
What can I say about ArcheAge? If you tired of your work, ArcheAge will feel like your second work
Most memorible Archage moment: Seeing somone put an up close and personal image of a trans person on the ship sails.
This was also the same day I walked away from Archage.
Archage made me quit mmorpg for years, so yeah would like to try aa2 whenever it comes out (not)
@yGLeviathan Then you have obviously not played it yourself.. You can have all the fun of the world with it, I have learned my lesson.
I'm actually genuinely excited about this. But keeping a skeptic optimism if that's even a thing lol. If they keep the P2W out but improve their systems and remove the tab target for a dynamic combat like Tera I'll be the first to sign up. We'll see in 5 years lol.
So ambitious that it'll never come out. GG
No tricks, no traps
OMG..
if they make this game Crossplay with mobile devices that would make it better..
Oh god this scary feeling again, I NEED TO GET THE MOST INFORMATION THAT I CANNNNNN
Wait, really? For PC? That's great. Everyone should keep making PC MMOs as new hardware could make worlds that we only dreamed of like 10-15 years ago. And the market is still big enough.
I'm gonna try the game when come out its free to play
Archeage 2: Punishing you even more for going on vacation.
Launch with a western monetization and this has a great shot.
I'd pay $100 per month for a fixed Archeage
I'm ready to be fooled 3rd time!
I’m still waiting for the first one lol
I hope they will do it this time
as a player who spent probably 20k+ hours in archeage and around 5k hours in bdo, archeage has become a game thats SOOOO frustrating over the years especially with no craft weapons content and with Daily quest simulator. otherwise archeage was a good mmo even in its p2w times. the content is what they really should care about. it was the most content abundant game, lots of roleplay stuff, pvp and dungeons. but all they did was care about the pvp system cuz competetive players would want to regrade or enhance their gears so they just created contents to push people to do more and more p2w so people could get better gear. the problem in bdo in other hand, its lacking content A LOT, i mean its basically a solo progress game, even if you start to bdo with friends, with time you will realize the game actually seperates you from your friends. i just hope XLGames wont f up archeage 2 also.
Release: somewhere in this century
One of the reasons why mmos are coming back is because BDO's cash shop has caught the attention of devs. Developers aren't gonna sit and watch Pearl Abyss milk the players without getting in on the action. Guaranteed it will be p2w, but it will be a hell of a game.
Don't worry the devs will leave gaping security holes in the code and it will be exploited to death.
Still hyped for Blue Protocol
Hell yeah!
AE2? put me on the watch I dont think I can take this avenger's level threat.
Here we go again
I played the ArcheAge US Alpha and it was one of the best MMO experiences I ever had. Absolutely. It's such a shame that they completely ruined it with horrible p2w. I wish the concept of fucking "cash shops" never existed in the first place because it is absolutely ruining the video game industry. I'd much rather pay any amount per month for a great game than to play a terrible game for free!!!!!
gonna be pay 2 progress like all the mmo's based on the history of kakao games
It might be. We'll have to wait and see!
ow shit its upcomming
looks very nice but we will see will it be good or not :D
Yup, like all MMOs!
@@MMOByte thats right also :D
Hype for B2P like Unchained
"wants to be the next best MMORPG"
This is hilarious. They have the potential, but the second you put in p2w microtransaction garbage, your game will die. The game may take 3, 5, or even 7 years to develop, but takes 5 seconds to destroy your game and player base.
Not gonna lie I got a little tingly from this news.
Kakao isn't the owner of BDO, if u are going to quote something, look a lot deeper my friend.....
Archeage 2 should have a fourth continent
I like playing bdo casually and not spending any extra money on it
Ever since I got into FF XIV, no other game can satisfy me. My soul is sold and my life is gone. :3
Oh boy cant wait to see it realised, be amazing and get fed up with it after the first months thanks to those predatory greedy assholes
i will be trying it and i think its going to be action combat not tabe target like archeage 1
i heard, developers for recruitment, need to know english and kakao is publisher then we not gonna have problem like archeage 1 with publisher like Trion and gamigo for EU/NA, lol
ue5 arche age 2? im guessing 2025 then
As much I dislike the way they handled the game. Archeage to me has the best class system of all time.
I'm glad to hear this one because it's nice that they're not picking the easy way and make a mobile mmo but they should make it p2p if they can't make a proper b2p . Making a p2w b2p game is not gonna work this time
Yup. I'm hoping they learned their lesson with the first incarnation of the game! and ArcheAge Unchained as well!
Just remastered the graphic.. Fix the bug, fix the repetitive shit...
Dont change the monetization..let's hope so
ArcheAge 2: We won't add any pay2win elements.
Also ArcheAge 2: *In order to buy more footsteps to explore some more, please visit our cash shop.*
I love the idea about archeage but man is it bad lol. Unchained indeed, not really p2w but they just replaced it with a horrendous system that would have you need to play 25 hours a day (yes I know) in order to get something usefull. Lol
Oh god not after the first one
just came here to read mediocre players about P2W in MMO, as they complain about aimbot in FPS and Broken champions/heros in MOBA, and how they try to justify their lack of skills in every single game
