Thank you for the very helpful video. I was wondering if you have a blueprint of all the exact measurements you would be willing to share. I would also like to know how many chickens this can hold. Thanks!
Make sure the nesting boxes are a good bit lower than the roosting bars or they’ll try to sleep in the boxes. And definitely add wheels so it’s easier to move
I think I'm gonna do one similar to this, bit I can't figure out how to make it predator proof. Where I'm at this would be a racoon buffet. They just dig under. Foxes too.
Nice chicken tractor. Heard you say you are in Mississippi and so am l. What do you do to keep the knats from killing your chickens in the first part of summer time
I'm sure you already figured it out since you commented a year ago, but just in case anyone else is looking, we experimented today and found 30º angle on the bottom and 60º on the top where the roof peak meets!
I'm sorry to bug and all that but I need to make this I got the measurements 12 feet long 8 feet wide and then I didn't now what the measurements are for the ones on the ground in the corners I'd like to now what those measurements are for that and the boards that are going up into the a fram are those 6 feet I think u said but I wanna make sure because I really got to make this I have lots chickens and this one would be great for how many chickens I have please and thank you 🙂
The boards in the corners I just cut for bracing. Any length will work. The sides of the A-Frame are probably slightly over 6 ft. Thanks for the comment!
If you did have issues with digging predators, you could just close in the covered interior space by the nesting boxes and lock them up at night. You could put on a ladder for when you let them out each morning and they’d still have the entire grass area beneath for scratching up bugs and weeds, etc.
Not sure of the weight. The height is just under 6ft. We had 22 birds in there and still had room. We currently have 10 hens in there and they appreciate the extra space.
Great design and build out! Lumber prices are still ridiculous...
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing. We're putting one together now. Will share photos once finished. Thanks!
Thanks for making this video. I now have an idea of how to build mine.
Really liked the design of this coop! I'm going to build me one with wheels for moving it! God bless you and your family!👍
we added wheels and it definitely helped with moving it! Appreciate you watching
Glad you found a little shade to work in. Lol Chicken tractor looks good!
Looks good 👍
Very cool! 🇺🇸💚
great job!!!!
Nice job!
It did give me an idea about the next box door. I'm using a Lowe's buck for a next box and a smaller door. Thank you
I used milk crate cut out the front
Nice work 👍
Good vid bro!!
Hope to do this soon .
Good video
It's like Boomhauer teaching me to build a chicken tractor! I Love it.
Very impressive! Hope you get lots of eggs.
i love it...
Nice coop, hope they are laying for you guys
Thanks for watching!
Looks good. You ought to add a couple diagonal braces to the door to keep it from sagging
it wont sag as its 2x2 and pretty light. I had the same for 10 yrs with no issues
Muito bom.
I need this w wheels! New follower here.
I actually went back added wheels. It definitely made it easier to move. Appreciate you watching!
❤❤❤WOW
Thank you for the very helpful video. I was wondering if you have a blueprint of all the exact measurements you would be willing to share. I would also like to know how many chickens this can hold. Thanks!
Sorry I do not have blueprints.
I’ve had 25 chickens in it at one time
I bet thats heavy!
Very!! Don’t have to worry about the wind taking it off tho so that’s good haha
Thanks for making this vid. We are planning on making several of these. Now that it's 2 years later, anything you would change or recommend?
Make sure the nesting boxes are a good bit lower than the roosting bars or they’ll try to sleep in the boxes. And definitely add wheels so it’s easier to move
@@LifeOnTheRidge Good advice on boxes. I plan to drag them with my Kubota RTV or tractor so wheels should not be necessary. Thx
I think I'm gonna do one similar to this, bit I can't figure out how to make it predator proof. Where I'm at this would be a racoon buffet. They just dig under. Foxes too.
Looks great!! So did you end up putting the wheels on it and moving it? That's what I want to do
Yes...added wheels to the front and back and that helped a ton!! Moves much easier now. Thanks for watching!
Could you show how to put the wheels on? Thanks
Question, how did you figure out your angles on the 2x4 ends closest to the ground and then where they meet at the top?
Geometry! And trial and error 😂
Nice chicken tractor. Heard you say you are in Mississippi and so am l. What do you do to keep the knats from killing your chickens in the first part of summer time
Never had any issues with gnats
What did it cost to build. Seems a lot cheaper to build then a chicken coop.
I can’t remember the exact cost but it was between $200-300. Maybe the same price as store bought coop but bigger and better built.
Cool video. How many chickens did you put in there?
We have 22 as of now
That's cool
How did you join the plywood sheets for the back of the coop? I can't find 8 ft sheets anywhere.
just measure, cut, & screw into the framing on the back. You should be able to find 4x8 sheets at any building supply store
What's the length of lumber you use for the trusses?
I can’t remember the exact length but I think they were a little over 6 feet
What did y’all cut your angles at on your 2x4s I can’t seem to get the same reault
I'm sorry but I can't remember the exact angle. I do remember there was a little trial and error involved haha
I'm sure you already figured it out since you commented a year ago, but just in case anyone else is looking, we experimented today and found 30º angle on the bottom and 60º on the top where the roof peak meets!
@Casey thank you so much. These 45°s I cut on both ends were def. Not working for me lol
Thank you! I am a beginner with cutting angles and making the work.
Please show How you move it?
How often do u move your birds in the tractor?
Every day
Did you find the plans online?
I did not use any plans. I found a picture of what I wanted online and then drew up some rough plans and just "winged" it haha
Have ya had any problems with predators?
Non as of yet. Hopefully it stays that way
@@LifeOnTheRidge is it still predator-free?
If you did have issues with digging predators, you could just close in the covered interior space by the nesting boxes and lock them up at night. You could put on a ladder for when you let them out each morning and they’d still have the entire grass area beneath for scratching up bugs and weeds, etc.
impressive. what's the overall weight of this unit, 8ft wide x 12ft length x ?ft height, and how many birds will be in there?
Not sure of the weight. The height is just under 6ft. We had 22 birds in there and still had room. We currently have 10 hens in there and they appreciate the extra space.
What about predators that can dig in??
We've not had any issues with predators so far
