They are no longer available for sale in the pet trade. The only way you can get them is if they are a grandfathered breeding pair was bought before they put them on the endangered species list.

They are no longer available from the wild for the pet trade. That has been shut down for a while and domestic breeder programs are the only way to get babies. I have also seen some beautiful hybrids of the military macaws crossed with other colorful macaws. Parrots are a lot of work, require training, including preferably free flight training, and the live a very long time. This longevity means there are a lot of birds available in rescues. Rescues are not the best candidates for free flight training but some will fly. Certainly a little harder to train.
