In early July 2019, my daughters and I stood behind these guys in the Air Transat lineup in London Gatwick airport. Even though all of us had been shafted by a 24 flight delay, I was struck by their friendliness, good humour, and good manners. I listened to 25 seconds of this song, and I must say that it ..... stretches the limits of what I typically enjoy. Nevertheless, these seem like decent dudes.
Hah that's awesome... Metal gets a bad rep, a lot of the people are pretty friendly. If you see another metal head rockin a shirt of a band you like, it sparks friendly conversation. I love the stuff, I see why some people don't though.
What separates Archspire from other crazy fast bands is that not only do they play insane tempos but also the composition works very well. Other bands tend to just shred random parts in the song and call it that. Archspire arranges all those fast notes and turns it into something I can put on repeat.
Nah, depends on what ya mean by that. Lil Pump type bs then yeah. But wordsmiths and top tier producers? Not even close. I grew up in the hood on r&b, soul, hip hop and some reggae. Wasn't til I was right about in my tweens/teens that I was put in tune with punk, hardcore, some metal and especially their derivatives/synthesis genres like crust, D-beat, thrash, powerviolence, grindcore, blackened crust, death ska, etc. I've known underground, backpack rappers and hip hop producers, punk, hardcore and metal musicians, done a little with hip hop and played in hella bands in a range of genres over the last 20ish years and it all takes different skill sets to make and to consume while picking up the nuances that make it either good, mediocre or shit. It's mad difficult to make a good beat and come up with the rhyme schemes and word play found in good hip hop. But just like every other genre and sub genre, the shit everybody knows is usually the worst they have to offer. There's a lotta really trash rap out there, especially lately. But there's hella trash out there of ever other type of music too lol The Lil's don't definitely rap just like Mushroom Head doesn't define metal 💀
Definitely one of the best modern tech death bands. I like how they can play super technical without sacrificing musicality and descending into wankery, like it's really melodic the whole time it feels almost like baroque chamber music but like heavy.

There are hundreds of TDM bands on my phone, and even if I shuffle, I can still tell which band it is just by hearing the first few seconds. That's why this genre is so awesome -- no limits, just endless space for creativity.

Not to mention all the great stuff by Chimaira/Decapitated/Septicflesh ect. I also discovered another one recently called Rivers of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name.
